Hey guys, I have been rooting my Nexus 7 few days ago and it seems that there's a problem updating apps from play store. Then i tried to run some apps and it force closes itself.
I thought it was some small issue and therefore I try to restore factory default and it restarted without restoring anything. Then I googled for few hours trying to flash a stock rom and it seems to be not working. It does flashed and I did cache wipe, data wipe etc and reboot into the rom before I restore. I even tried to lock my bootloader back but it doesn't work. Anyone help please? |

QUOTE(im_not_stupid @ Aug 24 2012, 04:04 AM) mind to elaborate what is the issue exactly? Hi, thanks for the reply. I have tried both Wugs toolkit(user friendly) and mskip toolkit(command prompt) to flash stock rom. if u dont mind u can try doing using toolkit to restore everything to stock, then do all the unlock root blabla using toolkit again Let me explain it again. I am having some problem trying to install apps and I thought it would be some rom matter and therefore I tried to do a factory restore. However when i restore it from setting it reboot into CWM recovery (which might because i flashed permanent CWM recovery). After that I tried to flash to stock 4.1.1 rom which i get from official google dev web. By using both of the toolkit i flashed it it seems to be working without error ( there's 3 but i googled it and everybody seems to have it). After finishing the flashing it is suppose to be back to google account setup stuff but it didn't. It actually back to the stage where I have not started flash anything (where the problem remains with everything I installed still there). Now I can neither flash any rom nor goes back to stock recovery. Is there any method to save it? PS: In short, Anything I flashed that show flashed successfully actually did not succeed. And back to the stage where I haven't started to flash. This post has been edited by LovelyPotato: Aug 24 2012, 04:14 AM |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 24 2012, 07:19 AM) You flash the stock recovery image as a single zip file. Do not extract it. The toolkit will auto extract it. If you read the instructions posted in the pre flash window you will be told which folder in the gnex toolkit folder this stock image be put in I did flash it as a full zip file without extracting it. But it didn't seems to help at any way.Try again. Flashing back just take under a minute If you wish to go back to cwm, do it in fastboot mode with tab connected to pc. Select vol up to move to recovery mode n press power |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 24 2012, 09:40 AM) Did you put the zip file in the correct sub folder of the gnex toolkit folder yes, i did, and everything run flawlessly until it reboots. Do I have to flash TWRP to flash? Coz I'm currently using CWM recovery. If yes, how do I flash TWRP?It should work seamlessly I restore it only few days ago using the toolkit just to take some performance stats n compare with cna rom |

QUOTE(junsheng @ Aug 24 2012, 10:39 AM) use toolkit to flash, select correct version to get back to stock, i'm using Wugs toolkit what do you mean by CNA rom? I did selected correct version to back to stock, but now it doesn't seems to be able to flash anything. I mean when I flash, it does everything, but once reboot, it back to the previous stage again. Is this a sign of bootloader unlock problem?are you flashing CNA rom? |

QUOTE(junsheng @ Aug 24 2012, 10:59 AM) not really, try a full wipe again, then restore it using the toolkit I did wipe everything before and after flashing. Nope, I have not flashed anything before, just unlock bootloader and rooted it(alone with permanent CWM using toolkit). Then I couldn't restore stock anymore. Basically right now as long as I reboot, it will back to the same state no matter what I do (Install/uninstall app, flash, etc)did u select the correct build version? i'm previously u flash wat rom? CNA rom? Added on August 24, 2012, 11:05 am QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 24 2012, 11:03 AM) Not necessary to select TWRP to reflash stock image yes I did, I even tried to download a few different time, but it still doesn't work as it should be.You can choose to select TWRP as recovery from just the toolkit selection of flashing clockwork recovery I prefer to use TWRP over CWM recovery Strange you are unable to get it done. It is actually straightforward .Did you try extracting your downloaded stock image to see whether it is a good download. When you flash it using the toolkit, you will see messages of extracting the image zip file midway in process Besides that, I couldn't even flash any TWRP recovery image, whenever I flash it and reboot, it goes back to the same state again and I reboot manually to recovery, it goes back to CWM again. My device is like a permanent hard disk that couldn't write anymore. This post has been edited by LovelyPotato: Aug 24 2012, 11:07 AM |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 24 2012, 12:14 PM) When you have finished flashing the Recovery ( whether is CWM or TWRP ) - make sure your tab is still connected to PC. Select recovery mode and you will boot into recovery successfully. When you wish to go to recovery mode when tab is already OK, download install free app QUICKBOOT and use it to boot to recovery mode ( not necessary to connect to PC) I did installed quickboot, but here's the problem now. I pushed the zip file into my internal sd card and i reboot into recovery mode using quickboot and right away i went to sd card and check but the file is gone, thats means whenever my device shut down, it back to the default state. May I know if you guys could actually mount your SD card in recovery mode? |

QUOTE(jpaq @ Aug 24 2012, 12:20 PM) Did you try with mskip's Nexus 7 Toolkit? I wanted to reset everything to stock without trace of rooting before I sent it to Asus Malaysia. I had unlocked and rooted and then unrooted with flashing back to stock rom image and locked using mskip's toolkit without any issues. However, I did manually install TWRP recovery using the same toolkit. Dunno whether it makes any difference. Yes I did. I tried both mskip and wug method, but it doesn't make any difference. Now i could not flash anything or even lock bootloader back to send back for warranty. seriously out of idea already |

QUOTE(im_not_stupid @ Aug 24 2012, 10:56 PM) actually until now i still dont get your problem.. Actually in short means no matter what I do to the device, it will not have any changes. I can never flash anything nor modify any files in it. As an example, I install an app into it and reboot, the app will automatically gone, while I uninstall an app and reboot, it will come back again. The changes is not only in the app, but even I flash the whole new rom, it didn't actually installed it and came back to the one that I have flashed over it.u said u failed to - relock bootloader - flash stock rom - anything else? and u tried - flash stock rom from google server - relock bootloader using both toolkit - anything else? |

Hi everybody! The shop i bought gave me a new one to one exchange for my problem nexus 7! Big clap for Satu Gadget Dot Com shop that is under PGRM for their good service!
Besides that, is there any recommended USB otg(apps and cable) that can allow my nexus 7 to connect with thumbdrive/logitech F710 controller? This post has been edited by LovelyPotato: Sep 2 2012, 01:09 PM |

QUOTE(zhuan97 @ Sep 2 2012, 01:59 PM) Good to know that, cos I also bought from Satu Gadget Dot Com. Where did you get the cable for S2? Samsung shop? otg cable - i used the same cable for S2. StickMount - need root. Nexus Media Importer - no need root, paid app QUOTE(mtxx @ Sep 2 2012, 02:25 PM) I couldn't factory reset nor modify any files on my tablet(Not even flashing new rom). Any changes goes back to default(files came back even factory reset) once I reboot it. I have been asking this for like 3 pages in this thread but nobody seems to have faced the same problem with mine before so I sent back to them for repair, but it seems that they couldn't and might need to send back to Asus which will drag me another 2-3 weeks, so instead they gave me a new set. |
