QUOTE(kelvin @ Jun 30 2012, 10:45 AM) With this price, how 1 Malaysia pad can sell? iMalaysia PAD not for the knowledgeable users. It is meant for http://www.lowyat.net/v2/index.php?option=...d=6812&Itemid=2 - morons who have no idea what other tablets alternatives are there and do not understand tech specs - it is going to be sell to mainly Msian govt depts and the seller will make a huge profit. And most probably it will be added another few hundred ringgit of apps !!! |

I am in London now and it seems it will be available for sale in the stores next Monday. I will pick one up. For those who are has requested me to pick up for them too i don't think the price is attractive. It cost £199 ( approx RM 980) + 17% VAT. And according to my daughter here i cannot claim back full 17% at airport , probably few % only
Those guys now selling at garage sales at RM 970-980 is indeed a good buy |

QUOTE(irenic @ Jul 15 2012, 11:38 AM) yeah it's been like that since quite some time but still you get a refund more than 50% of what you paid (for the tax) I think if can get 50% back is fair. Now new procedures at exit in airport. You just need fill up a form, attached your receipt and credit card details - drop in the box and just wait for refund through credit card. So actually no idea at all how much will be refunded |

QUOTE(G-17 @ Jul 28 2012, 10:27 AM) Yeah, it always comes down to Nova or Apex. Already have Apex Pro and the free version of Nova. I'm sure both are good, but I actually like the overall launcher performance of stock JellyBean, it's just the dock and icons I want to change. I guess I'll wait for a couple of weeks before decide. I believe he is looking at the cheapest ipad about RM 1199 onlySoC and GPU technology are progressing at a rapid rate, and I'm sure that a similar priced (or cheaper) Nexus tablet released next year will be miles ahead of the current one in terms of speed. It's kinda like the late 90's and early 2000's with desktop PC's; everything gets out-dated very fast. So you should ask yourself how much you're willing to spend on a tablet and what you're going to use it for. It's different from smartphones cos you can actually justify buying a high-end phone based on carrier plans and subsidies, plus it's something you use a lot. Tablets, on the other hand, are mostly a niche. If it's content creation, like art/design/presentation work or music production, iOS and the iPad have a far better ecosystem, no question, especially on the audio side (just use Propellerhead Figure and you'll understand... nothing on Android comes close). I have a DJ friend who recently did a gig with just 2 iPads and a mixer. He can justify the cost cos it's his job, and even the most expensive iPad is still cheaper than professional CD or 12" decks. But if it's just content consumption and the occasional laptop/netbook replacement duty (music, browsing, reading, video, gaming) then you can't argue with the price of the Nexus 7. Spending $RM 2000+ on an iPad is just ridiculous for such simple tasks, in my opinion, regardless of how rich you are. Think about it; $2000 can get you a decent laptop which can do a lot, plus if you buy it this year it'll still run fine once Windows 8 comes out, guaranteed (unless you're a hardcore gamer or photo-editor or something), and will probably last you a good 3 years, or even 10 yrs if you install Linux on it. You can't do the same for a tablet. An iPad will surely lose support and updates from Apple in 2 or 3 years, and even most of the apps released in future won't support it after a while, so that's $2000+ down the drain in such a short space of time. With the Nexus 7, you're losing less than $1000, which is still a lot but not as painful. Just my opinion. |

QUOTE(mtxx @ Aug 1 2012, 08:46 AM) reading through how to root nexus 7. Use the Nexus toolkit - is fast , simple and easy. Only file download size is bigger than normal. Tons of stuffs you can do with it - mainly just select n click. Similar to G Nexusi really feel this nexus 7 seems much more steps and abit more complicated compared to my previous device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475 need to download a PC software, damn...its 130MB, so big! http://www.androidnz.net/2012/07/how-to-ro...ur-nexus-7.html heres another guide. need to worry about the drivers on installation if using 64bit windows, and by reading the comments, seems cant enter cwm recovery by button combo, weird oh my, this may be my most challenging rooting experience yet. anyone here already rooted? by the way TS didnt update first page with rooting method and links? Way much simpler than rooting Samsung series phones This post has been edited by benny888: Aug 1 2012, 09:10 AM |

QUOTE(mtxx @ Aug 1 2012, 09:31 AM) really? samsung one seems very short already wor. I have flash SGS, SGS2,. SGS3, Note, Tab, Tab 10.1, Tab 7, Tab 7.7 - nothing beats the simplicity and flexibility of the Nexus Toolkit. It is so simple i called it a no brainer tool, ie even without brains one can use it. Just select n click onlymy previous experience was sgs2, download odin (so small size), and CF root kernal (so small size), flash, done. galaxy tab10.1, same odin, flash cwm, flash a zip to root, done. if N7 is easier than cool. maybe the instructions are longer and its actually easier than it seems. thanks, your comment is very reassuring. Added on August 1, 2012, 9:34 am not yet la waiting for 88sales to email. in the mean time no harm to read first ma. luckily i check out the xda root guide. and started to download the root toolkit nw. less waiting when i get my device. QUOTE(mtxx @ Aug 2 2012, 02:10 PM) ??? You cannot delete the blobs folder as it has majority of your backup files. This is new 6.0 cwm backup format. This blob folder will grow in size with newer backup made n you cannot identify easily which folder for which backup. So delete any backup you do not want from recovery mode so that all related blob folders are deleted too what are you talking about? ok, before i upgrade the cwm using rom manager, i made one cwm backup. its in a folder wich is 1GB+, seems normal. after upgrade cwm, the new backup folder is 20MB only and a blob folder which is 1GB appear. so what should i do now? you mean the blob+20MB folder is the new cwm style? its normal and i should just leave it? the old backup 1GB+ folder how? need delete? Added on August 2, 2012, 2:11 pm not too sad la, able to type chinese, and browse chinese website. just file manager & gallery cant read Chinese letters The main advantage of cwm 6.0 is backup n restore is about 50% faster. This is from my experience using it in the g note n g nexus You can still restore your older backup from cwm. If you don't need it you can easily delete it from any file manager or from recovery mode |

Has problems handling the CWM Touch recovery 6.0.1. Check XDA forums seems many users has such issues probably due to bootloader
I first flash it through GNex toolkit - it was successful but fail to reboot into it either at fastboot mode or through 3rd party app such as quickboot. Tested with the Nexus connected and tried doing it at fastboot - phone just boot back to system Flash it gain using Rom Manager - this time successful but than I noticed it is only a temporary CWM. Each time i have to flash it again to boot it into recovery mode - very leceh. Managed to backup the stock rom and tested a new rom Team EOS nightly. Thought of shortcutting it without wiping data, phone hung at the X logo forever. Tried to boot back to recovery - all attempts failed Seriously thought of flashing back stock image to revive phone but than tested flashing TRW recovery instead through the Nexus toolkit. PERFECT - recovery installed and each attempt to reboot into recovery was successful Just sharing my experiences |
