Hi I recently bought Y580, and the HDD really does reach 62C in normal use, not when I benchmark / test it with a software. What I did was downloading with uTorrent and also UNRAR some files, HWMonitor showed it peaked at 62C.

And I don't know if it is driver problem or hardware problem, I have some graphically tearing when I play some games like PES2012 and Spec Ops The Line, didn't appear when I play Prototype 2, but when I play Prototype 2, sometimes the graphic stuck for few seconds, not the audio, then it will go back to normal again..

My VGA peaked at 69C and idle at 44C, lowest at 40C..

U can see HDD is too near to heatsink, but although like my Y480 also not too high temp in normal use although no cooler pad(44 degree Celsius)
u can try to do something to the black firm which attach to HDD metal holding case, see if temp got decrease or not, or try another place and also buy a better cooler like Cooler Master U3

Added on August 6, 2012, 11:45 amAnd also update ur NVIDIA driver to 304.79 Beta driver(although is beta driver but stable than 29X.XX driver and performance increase)

Thx for your reply bro smile.gif

I did try 304.79 and 304.48 (this was suggested in one forum), but my graphics WEI dropped to 6.7 from 7.2

And another thing, when I ran 3Dmark11, the first video showed alot of colourful artifacts, and the 2nd video was blank half way till the end, the 3rd one was totally blank, thus i still score P2635. Is this normal?

That weird score cannot trust one...==
I think is either NVIDIA re-scale Windows Index Score or they forgot separate between Windows 8 and Windows 7 Index Score....lol
I'm still not try 3Dmark 11 in my Y480 so I dunno la, maybe u try at cooler place and see.....

that HDD temp really sweat.gif sweat.gif yes it can still running on that temp but its lifespan will be decreased dramaticly as max temp for most hdd only around 55c +- ... That gpu issues most probaly caused by overheating or gpu dead. Looks like its not overheating. i think something wrong with your gpu. have you try stress your gpu ? got artifacts ? hmm.gif

Yes that's what I'm concerned about the HDD, it's 1TB, so I thought I can use it to keep some of my important file from my PC, but now I changed my mind biggrin.gif
So now this 1TB is only good for me to install games.. LOL

I never done any stress test to my GPU, anyway is there any case before if artifacts shown caused by bad drivers?

I tried few drivers, including the latest beta driver I mentioned earlier. I'm relatively new with Nvidia card, the last time I used it was more than 10 years ago, before this I've been always an ATI user, is there any 3rd party / hybrid driver for nvidia card that I can download? thx

Haha yeah bloody expensive.. But since hd life span will greatly reduce due to high temp, why not spend extra for performance and reliability? Better than you worry all your data will lost..

But if you read clearly, my problem is not HDD, it's related to graphics, so I assume it's the graphic card..
