U3 is more effective in cooling as its increase the airflow inside the laptop. Just get some air filters place on top of fan to reduce dust.

Why no water cooler laptop design?

There is one here, interested.

For my design is fan cooler in active. Water cooler is optional.

When want to use water cooling, just plug the pipe behind the laptop.


Cooling the heatsink with water and fan both.

Does Y580 support Intel Smart Response Technology?

yes

I did some digging.
I found that US version of Y580 does not support Intel Smart Response Technology.

If u using SSD, u no need SRT anymore. If u using HDD, get a SSD. How much improvement, I can't tell you now.

Do u feel warm/hot around left palm rest/ touchpad of Y580/Y480 during long hour gaming or stress test at room temperature?

gaming no problem. stress test feel warm.

Is the fan auto boost faster from idle to gaming/stress test?

bios settings on laptop is very limited.

no way. high temp the fan run in full speed, but no jet sound.

can u post screen for system summary & sensor status from HWinfo64 HERE.
Guess HWinfo could adjust the fan speed according to temp.

i had tried with speed fan as well...also cannot see the fan
