QUOTE(chopin @ Aug 4 2012, 09:18 PM)
hi all owners of Asus N56VZ,

today i went to Lowyat plaza to chaeck out on this model, but all stores have no stock, not even a demo unit. I want to check with owners here whether this model's display is FHD 1920x1080 or not?

some seller told me all versions (i5 or i7) are FHD, some said i5 is only HD (1366) and i7 is FHD...

also, would liek to know if the screen is matte (non reflective) or not? because i knly want to buy a matte display, my eyes have problem with those bright screens that dominate nowadays.

Can any owner clear my doubts?

Also, since you guys have used it for some time, any comments? problems? would you recommend it? (I'm not a gamer, will use it for progreamming, www, and do assignments, plus music)

thx.....

Mine is i7 which comes with FHD (1920x1080), from what I know is that i5 version comes with HD (1366x768) and no FHD model. and Yes, its matte screen thumbup.gif
Perfomance so far so good, just the startup time is kinda long.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Btw, IMO, the touchpad sucks big time. I personally prefer the traditional touchpad that comes with a trackpad and 2 buttons.

yes i5 model only has 1366x768 resolution, for matte screen it's not so bright nod.gif
No problem so far, just some software bugs(in my case my trackpad has a bit startup problem, solved by reinstalling the driver).
Hardware is ok, temperature maintaining 40+ Celsius, fast open for Netbeans.
I'm similar with you, not a hardcore gamer, use it for programming, assignments and multimedia use icon_rolleyes.gif
use for programming is good, since screen is big

yeah matte screen is good for our eyes... in fact one major factor i'm considering n56 and not leno y480 is bacause of the screen. but if still no stock, will take y480.

another thing: a sales guy said matte screens are generally given to models at higher $$$, with 1 exception: Samsung, it uses matte screen in many of its regular notebooks, so i might want to check out the sammy before buying. anyone knows the quality of samsung lappies?

i5 is only HD~! .. full hd is for i7 lol... it is matte for both version...if they really did a fHD for i5 ... i wonder how much it would be haha

i5 = rm 2699 ...if you see the price any higher than that , maybe they did a FHD? lol
i7 = rm 3599 ... FHD, i7, Blu-ray, extra 250GB HDD

so far no problem.. just that gaming too long will make the cpu/gpu hot (normal for any pc), for music... you guarantee will love this laptop, excellent and clear audio by bang&olufsen ^^

I'm curious that did your speaker produced any buzzing sound when listening to some songs(yeah... happened in some songs in some time only..)?
I was like "what?" when i heard some buzzing sound for the speaker in power button side, reduced volume doesn't help much but it still lower down my annoyance,
feel much better with earphone(in fact the bass is superb with urBeats, better than beats audio IMO LOL)

Singeryoon, so far no buzzing sound... Prefer to use the speaker indoor n earphone when I'm outdoor. The subwoofer is at the corner of my table, hardly ever use that lol zzz.

Any game you play that has high setting will heat up the CPU/TPU... Want it to last longer with less heat ... Set it to low LOL but no kick to it of course tongue.gif

any magnetic things nearby your right speaker? i think your buzzing sound is due to that >.<

about the alu cover ... waiting for a protective sticker for this laptop version but so far no news .. same as the TPU skin keyboard lol.. if not, this lappy of mine will be protected sparky clean except for the screen haha

i did played diablo 3 with high setting, it is smooth .... 1 year down the road, startup time sure will drag down abit when we have more programs installed in the lappy tongue.gif

To owners of N56, core i5 with 1366x768 resolution:

at the screen size of 15.6" with this resolution, when we read and type Word documents and PDF files, and when browsing the web, would the fonts be too big or not nice on the screen? (I mean, compared to the i7 with 1920x1080)

Really need your sharing/input.

How I wish to get the i7 in FHD, but cost is too high for me le.....

haha...i understand your feelings bro. FHD mostly can be compare while gaming and watching high quality movie. My bro screen that is FHD, has more details and brighter images although mine already set to the MAX sweat.gif about the fonts on the web, you could adjust the size with CTRL + scrolling up and down the 3rd mouse button, right?

not worth the extra rm900 for the fullHD bro... wait 2 years down the road, many laptop would have FHD ... patience~~ rolleyes.gif

Dear all owners of Asus N56 i5 version:

I was informed by an owner of N55 that..

"but the resolution last time tagged in n55 is also normal HD, but turned out to be HD+ when i check the display unit and i asked the salesman, and they say wow, i also donno..." (so he bought it obviously :-) )

it seems that the N55 was advertised as HD (1388) but the actual screen was discovered to be HD+ (1600).

We both think that 1600 is better than 1920 and 1388 on 15.6"...

I'd like to ask owners of the new N56 i5 - does this happen to your units too? pls help to confirm a.s.a.p., will buy it within 2 days.

great thanks....

Nope, n56 i5 is 1388 cause when gaming, that's the max resolution I can set ... Can't find any 1600 option. Bro, if you saw the fullHD graphic, you might be disappointed with the hd display but if you can close one eye.... You will get used to the HD resolution after few days of using it.

What do you mostly use this laptop for ?
