you should plan you holiday to Hue as well

was there a couple months back, nice and quiet...nothing much but beach was nice....didnt go to casino but Hoi Ann is a must...day trip will do, just discuss w taxi shd be around around 600k vietnam Dong, stayed at mercure and hotel is extremely good...good place to relax....and they hv a v nice airport...buy lantern in Hoi Ann! cheap !

I like the atmosphere in hoi an,especially at the night,when all the lanterns are lighten up. Btw,It's just a small town with many ancients shops, easy to get around on foot or probably u could rent a bicycle there.

Suggest you also go to Hoi An ( South of Danang which is a UNESCO heritage area ) . Details can be Goole on the web. Diving, Beach and Historic city.

Also go to HUE ( 80km North of Danang which is also a UNESCO heritage area ) . Again lots to do there .

Suggest you only spend more time at Hue as there are lots historical sites to visit.

Try to hire a motorcycle and see more of HUE that way. Bicycle can also be used. Both can be rented there.

The main attraction is the the old city of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site. I was wondering whether it is worth another trip to go to the central part, after visiting Hanoi and HCM City.

I am thinking of basing myself in Hoi An, but wondering if Hue is too far away

Stayed in Da Nang. Hired car+driver for day trips to Hue and HoiAn/Myson. I think can do day trip to Hue from HoiAn.

Not really far fr Hue to Hoi An, ard 2.5 hrs on bus. Take your time to stay in Hue 2days & Hoi An 3-4days, Then, Da Nang for 1day.

May i know what is the reasonable air ticket to Danang?

I did a week trip there couple of years ago. Spent 3 nights at Hoi An and 2 nights at Hue.

My advice to those who are going:

1. Plan for 15th night in lunar calendar. They will switch off most of the lights near the river and you'll see lotsa lantern and elly tran ha.
2. Awesome place to be and good food too. Morning Glory and the baguette near the wet market is what i can think of right now
3. I stayed near the beach and most the hotels have shuttle to the town which is about 15 mins away.
4. As for Hue, take the scenic train from Danang. remember to sit on the window side facing the coast!
5. You don't really need to spend a lot of time in Hue, 1 night at least 2 nights at most. Its not big with most of the attraction are within bike ride distance. Their forbidden city was still under going major renovation the last time I was there, nothing spectacular imo. I prefer the summer palace more.

Last 2 week I bought the open bus ticket.. From. HCM, mui Ne, nha trang, hoi an, danang, Hue and Hanoi..

For me.. Most nice place to visit is mui Ne ( desert) and nha trang (4 island tour and nice beach to hang out)

Hoi an is a old town like penang..

HCM, Hue and Hanoi for me is quite traffic congestion.. I not really like it..

Last time I at Cambodia Siam Reap / phnom phen.. There have bus to there.. But quite expensive

Anyway.. From hoi an to danang or vise versa only 30km...

I advice you fly to HCM.. Take bus to Mui Ne, nha trang, hoi an and da nang.. Which is more worth

The trekking path there quite muddy, so bring along any worn-out clothes, just wear and throw if dirty.
Can rent rubber boots there also, if you wear nice shoes there, confirm no need bring back d

My proposed itinerary at central Vietnam:

Day 1 - Arrived at Da Nang at noon via Airasia - Head north to Hue via private car / train (if train, do i have to book advance?)
Day 2 - Hue
Day 3 - Hue to Hoi An (skipping Da Nang at this point)
Day 4 - Hoi An
Day 5 - Hoi An
Day 6 - Hoi An to Da Nang
Day 7 - Da Nang
Day 8 - Afternoon flight back to KL

What do you guys think? Possible? Most likely travelling solo. Gonna crash in budget homestay or hostels (have some budget, thus should follow recommendation in TA, RM 60 - 70 per night max)

Activities in Hue :

Firstly, I want to say...Hue is a boring place..shouldn't in your itinerary (should skip this place). Da Nang to Hoi An just 30min drive /30km
Second, you should buy multicity flight! Arrive to Da Nang and departure from HCMC (Head to south)
Third, stay at backpacker which cost you 4USD to 6USD
Forth, train is more expensive then bus..In vietnam, bus is superb

I forgotten the name of the hotel... But I know where the location of the hotel.. I can share the location it to you if you want.. But the hotel is 25 USD for 2 days.. And yea it's very near to old town/morning market (walk around 5 to 10min)

In Vietnam trip... I bought open bus ticket as you can read tru my blog.. I don't recommend train because of expensive..and I never take train in my Vietnam trip

You're going during Tet? Not really a good time if you want to travel on a budget. It's their major holiday there, many shops will be closed, prices will be 2-3x more expensive, and accommodation will be fully booked that time also. Better book everything in advance before going

Ill be going Da Nang 5d4n on the 2018 CNY week.

Planned to spent 2D1N in 1 of the beaches in Da Nang, and the rest 4D3N in Hoi An.
Will be doing a day trip to Hue as well.

Any recommended place to go to in Hue? Mainly plan to visit the imperial palace there.

As for Hoi An, plan is to visit My Son, and chillax around the Ancient Town area. Still contemplating whether to go Bana Hills.

Ba Na hills so expensive, cheapest i found is USD50 per person for a day's trip. Wonder if it is worth it. Pictures shows very nice place.

I can't find any Nha Trang post in Forum, I'm planning for a 4D3N this coming December 19-22, 2 adults and one 2 year old child. How's the weather on December? cos I got a child to worry about. Beside Vinpearl Land and Dalat, any other place to visit? Got a flight+hotel package for RM1.2K for 3 pax.

Go during the summer time (april - september) as there will be street carnivals and shows. Just got back from there in October and it was all cloudy and couldnt see anything.

rain everyday and flooded in Hoi An, water knee deep - 1 story deep in Hoi An ancient town... everyday i just watch HBO in hotel.

Ba Na hill was nice and cold, very misty but a few parts are still under renovation / construction .. doesnt seem to be fully open. its very nice if you like to take pictures alot cos thats pretty much it. USD50 per person

Arrive by flight, transport straight from airport to Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An. Spend the evening in Hoi An ancient town, try all the food there. Try the com ga, cao lau and banh mi

D2 - Hoi An
Guess you can do a day trip to My Son sanctuary, but to me it's not worth it. Otherwise, just spend time in An Bang beach

D3 - Hoi An - Hue
Take a bus from Hoi An to Hue. Better to get private transport so you can stop at all the scenic spots along Hai Van pass and Lang Co bay. Overnight in Hue. Can spend your evening at Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking street, plenty of food there. Try the food there, Hue is quite famous for che hue, bun bo, com hen

D4 - Hue
Can visit Imperial City and royal tombs. Get the combo ticket, I think its 280k for imperial city + tomb of minh mang + tomb of khai dinh. Some places you can see for free like Thien Mu pagoda and Thanh Hoa roofed bridge

D5 - Hue - Danang
Travel back to Danang. Overnight here. Can spend time at the beach, spend evening at Bach Dang street. Try the quang mi

D6 - Danang
Day trip to Son Tra peninsula. If have time, maybe can visit Ban Co peak

Travelling to Da Nang for the first time. Just wanna ask what are the fun activities and good restaurants over there?

Hi I was in da nang and Hoi an a few months ago. I prefer hoi an muchhh moreeee than da nang tho. There are more things to do and see in hoi an. Things are slightly cheaper in Hoi an too. I wished I stayed longer in Hoi an. Everyone was much nicer and genuine there.

The only thing I did in da nang was to see the marble mountain thing , a day trip.

Then another day trip to bana hills. Uhm it’s like going to vietnam’s Bukit tinggi. They employed like a bunch of white people to do performance. Queue to sit the cable car was super long. Everything and every where also need to queue. Packed with noisy locals. All like to cut queue .The indoor theme park also cacat to the max. Non of the rides worth sitting. I remember joining a queue cuz we saw many people queueing up, we thought it’s a good ride. Padahal, it’s just a 30 seconds “horror ride”. The set up is like something my school library would do for library week. That place was a major turn off for me.

Then another day to chill. Went to one of the main beaches , forgot what it’s called. Holy shit , the beach is packed like sardine. I swear I’ve never seen so many fully clothed people on the beach before. Quite scary.

Da nang wasn’t pleasant for me. Sorry

Uber and grab not really that cheap also. And cars quite limited. If you got 10+ people, I think it would be more economical to rent a van with driver for a day

Damn not worth it man. I paid like rm180 for a days trips inclusive of everything. That whole place is so damn artificial with a bunch of sad looking underpaid white people performing. Cable car queue was super long. Just long queues for everythin la. The indoor theme park is so damn shitty too. The pictures of the place looks really nice online cuz it’s empty . In real life the whole place is hoarded with tons of locals + China People. I remember there was like a beautiful garden with flowers, the whole ambiance was destroyed by them and their selfie sticks. Damn annoying

Quite a turn off. I wouldn’t recommend it .

Hi all, lemme give you some ideas from my recent Hoi An trip.

In total I went there for 5d4n (14th - 18th Feb).

Day 1:
-Arrive airport (12-1PM local time)
-Proceed to check-in hotel in Hoi An Town.
-Went out walking around the town for lunch and light bites.
-You must try the Banh Mi (Baguette) there, one of the best food I had there. I forgotten the name of it, but its near the same row of shops with "Highland Coffee" corner shop, across BeBe tailor.
Although TBH, only some of the food there is really nice. According to my sister who had been to HCMC, there are more choices and nice food in HCMC.
-Had vietnamese coffee in Mango Mango restaurant in town, must drink if you like vietnamese coffee.
-Continue strolling around the ancient town, chillax in of the the restaurants and proceed to night market before back hotel.

Day 2:
-Early departure for Hue trip. It's a 2-3 hrs drive from Hoi An therefore its going to take an entire day trip if you do not stay in Hue.
-Dropped by Marble Mountain for a quick stop, but found unable to cover all due to time so we just take the elevator up and have some quick snaps and left.
-If you like cave built temple, I think you can take a longer time here.
-Proceed to Hue, we used the scenic route, looks nice but can be skipped if you're not into the scenic coastal view as its zigzagy and narrow so not recommended for those motionsick people.
-Hue Citadel is a must (for me coz I like ancient buildings, very china-esque palace).
-Lunch in some local kopitiam due to CNY/Tet eve, so not much is open.
-Thien Mu Pagoda can be skipped, not very impressive.
-Khai Dinh tomb. It's expensive entrance fees, ard 100K VND/pax iianm. I think not really worth the price as there's not much to see.
-Never had enough time to go for Ming Manh, and Tu Duc tomb sadly.
-Back to Hoi An town for dinner and back hotel.

Day 3(CNY/TET actual day):
-Most hotels there provides bicycle as it is a good way to explore the small town.
-We went for cycling around the ancient town.
-Not much is open during the day as it was their CNY.
-Had chicken rice which is nice at 'Com Linh'. You should try.
-Had Coffee at "Hoi An Roastery". They have 4-5 outlets around town with some in strategic location. Can try albeit I feel the Mango Mango one is nicer.
-Chill around town till night, and went to night market for some shopping.

Day 4:
-Cycle to town again, looking for artworks and souvenirs and last day shopping.
-Had coffee in Highlands Coffee chain (its like their local starbucks with their fraps). Nothing special, better of stick with vietnamese coffee.
-Evening chill in "The Deck" in Hotel Royal Hoi An by Sofitel, one of the only 2 5 stars hotel in Hoi An iianm. Basically its a sky bar overlooking the ancient town. Drinks are not too expensive, can consider if too much time and no where to go XD.
-Had dinner and chill again in ancient town before heading back.

Day 5:
Morning departure to airport and leave.


***Other info :

Street Food :
U will see alot of repetitive stalls selling
1)Banana pancake
2)Vietnamese rice paper
3)Banh Mi
4)Rolled Ice Cream
5)Others

You should try the rice paper, among the nice street food.
Banana pancake is average.
Never tried Ice Cream as the temp was ard 16-20 deg at night, so we had beers and alchohols instead.
Tried 3 different Banh Mi stalls but none beat the one on the first day.
There are other foods like lok lok style, but we dare not try due to hygiene and we are not sure what are some of those meat.

Vietnamese Coffee :
Must drink daily for coffee lovers, so much kick and kao.
FYI, we had 2-3 cups of their coffees every day without miss. xD
Order them with milk, and iced.

Weather :
Daytime temp can go around 25-28, but night can be chilly and cold.
Not sure if its due to the season, better check your dates and their weather forecast.
Could use a jacket at night if its whole year long thingy.
The coldest I felt was around 16 deg with winds so I was kinda shivering while sitting down at the Irish pub chilling LEL.

Must Eat :
For me,
1) only the first day Banh Mi
2) rice paper
3) day 3 chicken rice
Other vietnamese food like pho, mi quang, fresh and fried spring rolls are average.

Market, Night Market :
ALWAYS ALWAYS bargain.
Tourist there was 90% korean, thus some vendors can even speak simple korean.

Tailor :
I thought to make a tailored suit but after finding out the price, it wasnt within my budget thus i skipped.
Average price is around USD130 and above depending on the materials u choose.

Suggestions :
-You should try to stay at least 1 night in Hue, to really discover everthing interesting there.
-My Son champa ruins can be skipped if you had visited Angkor Wat, or planned to. I never been there but research show its just a small ruin, not worth to spend that amount of money and time.
-You should also try to stay 1 or 2 nights in Danang if you like beaches and sun. They have a really long coastline and sunny sun. More varieties of food too as we saw them when we passed by the city.
