thats when laser range finder comes in handy, direct tell distance
btw, it is really hard to do hyperfocal especially your aperture not small enough,
at long range.

QUOTE(amduser @ Jun 28 2012, 06:52 PM) Lol so sorry I misunderstood you because your question wasn't clearQUOTE(amduser @ Jun 28 2012, 02:57 PM) a question, how do i set hyperfocal distance for my 55-300 and my 35mm? That is why I recommended you a range finder or not it would be impossible for you to guess the range of your subject!..both lens dont come with the focus meter and marking, i have to mark it myself but dont know how If you want to use it for street photography go google zone focusing and later on use a random subject you want to take and make a few test shots, after youre comfortable with what you have do set your auto focus to manual now you can head to the streets! |

do anyone use 24-70 f/2.8 here in DX?
many people giving good review for this lens, of course price is nice as well... after using kitlens for some time, i am planning to upgrade. the first idea is tamron 17-50, but there are people commenting its focus not that good in low light...but i have seen this lens is not too bad in term of sharpness, is acceptable for me. but, it seems 24-70 covers bigger range and i try out the difference of 17 and 24, it just 1 step of me...and i think 24-70 can consider a multipurpose lens due to it range, portrait should able to handle as well...how do u all think? most reviews are commenting if budget allows, choose the nikon that pair up with the body fits the best...is this worth for a big throw? any other things that i need to be concern? |

FX works better for FX lenses of course, the range is designed for FX. I don't have any DX lens already at the moment. The only DX lens I had was the 18-105, sold it sometime ago.How about the same version of sigma 17-50? btw, CY, do u use FX lens in DX before? how is it? cannot tahan and it a motivation to change FX? |

QUOTE(lpyycy @ Jun 28 2012, 10:59 PM) do anyone use 24-70 f/2.8 here in DX? I have a 28-70mm AF-S on D300. It is worth considering the 24-70mm if your budget allows and have plan to go FF or if photography is your money making career. Otherwise, a 17-55mm is the best choice. Tamron is very very poor in low light while Sigma have better chance in low light. How about trying to get the 16-50mm F/2.8 Tokina? Fast AF and quite deadly in accuracy.many people giving good review for this lens, of course price is nice as well... after using kitlens for some time, i am planning to upgrade. the first idea is tamron 17-50, but there are people commenting its focus not that good in low light...but i have seen this lens is not too bad in term of sharpness, is acceptable for me. but, it seems 24-70 covers bigger range and i try out the difference of 17 and 24, it just 1 step of me...and i think 24-70 can consider a multipurpose lens due to it range, portrait should able to handle as well...how do u all think? most reviews are commenting if budget allows, choose the nikon that pair up with the body fits the best...is this worth for a big throw? any other things that i need to be concern? 24-70mm = 42-105mm on DX so its not within the sweet spot as a general lens but more a portrait lens to me. Do note, buying the 24-70mm will need to have a wide angle lens to cover the wider part. A 12-24mm DX is a good option |

Dear All, thanks a lot for the advise
some misunderstanding with me, forgotten 24-70, the reading 24 is for FX format, not DX will try survey for the tokina lens, meanwhile, i thinking keeping 18-105 will be great as spare really dont plan to take photography as life time career, maybe only part time only to cover the expenses spend on photography.. hahaa...meanwhile, will use 18-105 to practise up portrait shooting first spam before zz.... ![]() DSC_5051 by pyloo813, on Flickr This post has been edited by lpyycy: Jun 29 2012, 12:39 AM |
