Ditto, I wonder what's wrong with it? Looks OK to me.

Could be the post processing method maybe, here's one with 70-200 VR2 for comparison.

i am using the old 18-135 f3.5-5.6 lens on the d80 body, but currently bought a 50mm f.18d lens for shooting, so the 18-135 lens kept aside didnt use for quite sum time,

the problem is when i put back the 18-135 lens back to the body, the top lcd display shows (F --), aperture reading gone, and AF-S display gone, put back the 50mm nothing happen..

shutter still can release but the image is black and motor does not auto focus...anyone has this issue b4 or is this the place where i put this post

Sadly I had lost my SB-900 flash yesterday.
I'm in need to use a flash, so I had another flash, but it is a canon's 580EXii.
My question is, can I attach it to my D300s body? Is there any side effect to both gadget?

------edited!------
I had try it, and it work, using ETTL and also manual mode.

Let me get this right, you're expecting D5000 to perform as well as D700? DX vs FX?

Side note I don't remember D5000 sensor being that crappy... Same sensor as D90 right?

Are you trying to show 1st photo very sharp, 2nd photo soft?

Did you apply sharpening on 1st photo? Seems like got hard sharpening.
For 2nd photo, the softness can be due to she lean a little backwards and did you apply any sharpening?

For newer models (e.g. D7K, D5100), by default, the preset has low sharpening value for JPG. It's been discussed before, for older models users, the default preset applies +7 sharpening if not wrong, while the newer models preset default to +3 (I think, forgot).

As far RAW file, you will have to apply your own sharpening as by default, it doesn't apply those presets into the RAW file, unless you load the RAW file into ViewNX or CaptureNX, as it will load the Camera Presets.

f5calvin, they still look good to me. smile.gif
To me, I feel like the D700 or any FX body will have edge anyhow.

Anyway, just to add some stuff to the discussion, maybe it is because of the metering?
I have never used an FX body or Nano+Gold ring lenses. tongue.gif. But both 70-200 and 24-70 are already awesome lenses to start with. smile.gif

From the two pics, below is what i gathered from the flickr EXIF.

d700 pic
----------
1/1000
f/2.8
110mm (110mm effective on 35mm)
ISO 800
0 EV
Shutter Priority Mode
Center-weighted average
Lens 70-200mm f/2.8

d5100 pic
-----------
1/800
f/3.5
58mm (87mm effective on 35mm)
ISO 640
0 EV
Aperture Priority Mode
Multi-Segment (Matrix)
24.0-70.0 mm f/2.8

both photos are in jpeg, not edited..no sharpening or softening done..
yeah, the sharpening for d5100 is low..so now i made it higher like other models. haven't tried a portrait since i sharpen it..
n also i din try to shoot in RAW either..will try one day.

D5100 la tongue.gif

Look like some mis focus there, or could be the limitation of crop sensor
