screen reso is full 720 (not like nexus with the on screen button which caused the screen to reduce in reso)
*
Just want to correct one thing. Nexus is full 720p too, because "720p resolution" is a hardware thing. S3 is using the same screen as the Nexus. But the software is registering the resolution as lower because of the already occupied space by the Nav bar. In terms of hardware, its still "full 720p". happy.gif

Also, the smoothness of Touchwiz comes from software optimization, not because its quad core. Since S2 (non g) Touchwiz is already smooth. One X is quad core too, but the slight lag is still there, which I guess is due to Sense UI.

btw I also played with the s3 demo unit in a shop. Unimpressed is all I can say tongue.gif the design is just..not something you'd expect from a flagship. One X would be the better buy between the 2, but that's just IMO. At least I get the subtle "I want one" feeling when I played with it briefly.

But still with that said, my future phones will come back to one question. Is it a Nexus? biggrin.gif

S2 s3 and note ICS all are skinned heavily ...

On Gnex what you get is pure ICS the way it was intended and the way it won the gold for Best System Experience at the 2012 User Experience Awards lately smile.gif

yeah.....agree, dislike the physical button. on-screen buttons rules!!  mod any button we like. don't like on-screen buttons coz no full 720p resolution? no problem, there is tweak already available to toggle on/off your nav bar, what's the problem?
*
toggling those navigation bar needs root, rite....
hmm... this might be a good reason for me to finally root my gnex....

I'd just like to quote one thing from AOKP B39 changlog.

QUOTE
a note about linaro (warning, tech mumbo jumbo ahead)
These builds do NOT include the new Linaro optimizations. The optimizations don't increase the speed of Android by 100%, nor do they inject butter. They use a newer toolchain to compile Android, which has more optimizations. The Linaro people have also made the proper changes in Android code to allow builds to be compiled with -O3 instead of -O2 flags (think of it as another pass of code optimizations).

Please do not ask us whether we will include them in the future. We like speed as much as the next guy, but we want to make sure that it doesn't break ANYTHING. When/if it's ready, you'll know.

Enjoy!

in case someone missed it nod.gif

Ice Cream Sandwich won the Gold Prize for best platform experience at Parsons' 2012 User Experience Awards! Way to go team!

Thanks to Parsons for hosting a great event and thanks to IXDA, NYC UPA, and NYC CHI. We need more celebrations of UX like this!

and I'd like to add, its something every other skinned Android users won't experience. tongue.gif

If just upgrade, you can try dirty flash, if found out having bugs, then only wipe. No harm done right? Just be sure backup before doing anything.

u can folo fallout explanation of just flashing the b39 and reboot
but if u start having these symtoms
1 random reboot (phone sits there then poof, google sign shows)
2 force close (apps stop working/app crash)
3 main stuff not working (calls, sms etc)
4 bootloop
5 random events

if so u nid to backup ur apps using titanium backup and wipe then flash.

btw just backup in case fire happens nod.gif

*btw dun call me unicorn... springfall will do.. unicorn dun ride unicorns tats just weird.. rolleyes.gif
planning to shift to cm9 for a few days for fun~ unsure.gif
