try force close the gmail app at setting>applications? i had this problem b4 when i trying to upload pic to fb, but after i forced close the fb app the bar went off...

The easiest way, swipe your palm over the S3 screen from left --> right or right --> left

Then you will see like photostat machine effect and screen captured ...

If you can't do it, maybe you have disable the feature, you can go Settings --> Motion --> scroll till bottom and can see the option
