I've read that. Is there any other way to check besides:
Desktop > Screen Resolution

I threw the box already  cry.gif

And mine shows its 1366x768 ( Recommended)  cry.gif
*
no box & documents? then look at the label at the bottom of your unit (480 or 580??), what is the Model No.? my y480 is 20131. maybe you can check on Lenovo using this model no.

The box I threw already but what documents are you talking about?
Its Y580. Model name 20132.
How to check on Lenovo? On their website?
*
hmm... honestly i'm not sure. i found this with 20132:

http://www.kwcheah.com/2012/08/17/lenovo-y580-review/

inside my box, there is a piece of packing list, that describes the components of the unit, it will tell whether your display is hd or fhd LED.

maybe you'll have to use your serial no. to check on Lenovo, or ask your seller.

another possiblity is the display card driver - is it the correct one installed? or is your y580 came with the windows pre-installed?

I'm not sure what packing list is that.
I only have some setup poster, limited warranty booklet, safety and general information guide.

Display card driver? How to check?  hmm.gif
Yes the windows is pre-installed.

I'm pretty sure the seller said its FHD.
*
ok then, go to Control Panel > System and Security, click on the "Device Manager", you will se a display like attached. Pls report here what Display Adapter is listed. On this example, my computer shows "ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series", yours might be Nvidia *******.

let's see this first.

additional note: you should have 2:

Intel HD blah blah blah...
NVIDIA blah blah blah...

tell us what you see...

There are 2. One is Intel® HD Graphics 4000 and the other is Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M.
*
ok, the drivers are correct, 2 possibilities:

a) your seller f****d you,

b) you didn't select the highest resolution. go to Desktop > Screen Resolution again, at the Resolution drag down box, try to drag the arrow and see if you can go up to 1920?

hmm.... let's see what you can do.

what price did u pay? (maybe he didn't f**d u after all)
when did u buy it?
maybe you can go back to him with you receipt, and demand to change it to fhd and top up the amount needed. but to your disadvantage, you have thrown the box.

(maybe some kind-hearted pals here are willing to give you their box???)

nvm, call him up or see him first.

if he really has cheated you, you can warn him that if he refuses to rectify this, you will publish this case here with his name, and he will lose more (but pls make sure that there is no misunderstanding in the first place.)

Really bad luck. Called him up, he said his shop only have the HD version  mad.gif

I bought it 2 days ago. That time, I asked him whether it was FHD, he said yes.
Paid 3399, expensive I know, but it was an installment plan.  unsure.gif

But I gotta admit I did not checked the resolution at that time as I was rushing and the receipt said it was HD LED  cry.gif
Haihhh  cry.gif

in this case, demand a full refund, bring some though-looking guys there to add some force, and raise you voices, create some scene (sellers usually fear this) - I don't recommend violence, but this is NOT a western country where sellers are honest, this is Malaysia, sigh.....

anyway, maybe we should know his shop name, as a precaution.

on hindsight, if you buy now, the Raya promo can get you Y580 fhd with Lenovo headset, at 2848 only (lower specs)...

There are RM200 increase from 720p to 1080p....
RM3399 is the original price for Y580(720P)
RM3599 is the original price for Y580(1080P)

I think he kena F****** ald
*
well in a sense, the shop didn't f*** him, they just sold the old batch to him at the price - which, strictly speaking, was not a lie. but they f****d him by saying this is FHD, even if verbally—this is a LIE!

P.S. Thanks for your help  icon_rolleyes.gif  Reminded me to be cautious of sellers.

you are most welcome!

so this again reminds us that we shouldn't buy expensive things when we are rushing... need to inspect eveything before parting with our $$$.

mate, hope you'd feel better...

*
yeah, agreed. they lied about it being FHD.

i think they are desperately clearing the y580 HD version, even at the price of lying, because when the new specs came out at 2848, no one will want to buy the hd at 3399 anymore...

i think what rexus meant by 3117 is this:

2848 -- y580
+269 -- Upgrade to 3 Year OnSite Warranty
-------
3117

rexus: pls make your message clear, provide us with more details, otherwise ppl will keep guessing and waste time asking again and again...

I had pmed Devour , he told me that upgrading the HDD will void the warranty... rclxub.gif Who is correct then ?
*
If u keep ur default HDD, when ur laptop got problem u install back the HDD then warranty problem solve, some dealer just don't want other ppl change the stuff themselves(or can say if u want to change stuff go to they, so that they can earn money)
*
i'll say put back the original hdd when you want to claim warranty. there is no way they can tell if you have moved it or not. same with the RAM. it is ridiculous to void the warranty just because we change the hdd and ram - like for a car, would we void the warranty if we change the tyres and the sport rims, the wipers?

many of us will go ahead and buy the hdd caddy to move the hdd to the dvd drive bay, we are not worried at all about the warrnty...

basically it's a codec package that allows you to open most/all the video format... but for me, it is better to separately install & customize the codec/filters
*
hmm, that's the problem, with so many formats, very mafan la. currently i'm using media player classic, GOM Player, and VLC.
