thanks for your reply.
1.  hopefully can get into audit firm, small firm is fine. wonder if you can advice if my expected salary would be around 1.8k-2k with 2.5 cgpa. tx biggrin.gif

2. i hope smaller firms wont have huge workloads like the larger firms...don't mind work until 9 or 10pm...it'd be off-peak  hrs..maybe travelling back to JB wont be too hassling / take shorter time?? so, what time i need to be in CIQ? if i hv to start work at 830am?? tx

look forward to hear from u again biggrin.gif

thanks a million

You dont mind work until 9 or 10pm, then still depend on your workplace location, if near woodlands then ok la, but if far from woodlands, you take time to travel to checkpoint and i guess when you reach home, already 11++pm, bath and straight go sleep, the next day need to wake up early, if you start work at 830am, then i guess wake up 6++am shud be better?

Can you live like that?

QUOTE(seantang @ Jul 9 2012, 11:29 AM)

If it's anything like the Big4, the working hours will not be uniform each and every day. Some days, you might need to leave the client's office at Shenton Way (down south) after 10pm. In that case, there's practically no chance for you to take public transport across the entire island to Woodlands etc and still be in time to take a bus across the causeway. If that happens, what are you going to do? Bunk for the night with a colleague? You're basically up shit creek without a paddle.

If you're taking public transport - living in JB and working in SG only works if you have very steady work hours and locations ie. you know exactly what time you need to be exactly where.

The other option... get a motorcycle and bike in every day. Then you have all the flexibility you need, except when it rains. Clients don't appreciate wet auditors... trust me. I assume you can't afford a car.

To answer your question about timing... I used to take the overnight bus to Sg from Ipoh. I will reach SG at about 4:30-5:30am depending on the driver's balls. First bus from Woodlands CIQ to MRT is at 6:15am. Get into a train to Orchard Rd at 6:40am. Reach Orchard at 7:10am. Reach office at 7:20am. Takes about 1hr:5minutes. Add 5-10minutes for every bus/train you miss and have to wait for the next one. And when it's peak hour... you might not get into the first arriving bus or train.
*
But if he get a bike or motorcycle, then it wont save alot money for him since his main reason to stay at JB is to save money.

your colleagues able to get a job that provides transportation...hope mine could hv such perks...i heard some of my friends...if work too late, cab fare can be claimed...wonder if they can cover the cab fare all the way back to JB-larkin
TUAS area seems abit complicated, i guess?
i think there are several stops at singapore that offers bus services all-the-way back to JB-Larkin?? like at the Queen st.??maybe i dont hv to stuck at the CIQ if i able get those services??

thks for advice..
TQ biggrin.gif

cab fare from singapore back to JB-Larkin i don't think can be claimed, quite expensive one. your friends say can be claim should be only in singapore.

Bus service back to JB-Larkin, only got 170,causeway,SJE. or maybe you can hook up with the factory bus when u at CIQ, pay them $1-2 can already.

Nope, don't have corp plan so at own expense, am searching for a budget one.
Starhub Green.  Got it!  We've got our accomodation already which has wifi but am still looking for broadband as the work site doesn't have internet for 'visitors'.

Thanks!!
*
Broadband will bonded you for two years, if you are stay in singapore for short term, it is not wise to do so.

for your case, if you are looking for internet at work site, maybe you can request from company, because you will be in singapore just for a short period, not wise for you to sign broadband or postpaid which can provide you mobile internet, you can use prepaid to online, but quite costly if i not mistaken. the only way is to request from company.

Oh yes, you are right, only within singapore area. Hopefully the cab can get me into the CIQ, so that I don't have to take public transport to the Woodlands CIQ...
The buses services mentioned are noted with thanks. I tried 170 at Kranji-JB Larkin, and causeway from Queen st. bugis - Larkin s well..SJE not sure...wonder if you know whether other regions have such bus services like straight back to JB-Larkin...

*
The cab can get you to CIQ, there is a taxi stand where near to train checkpoint, normally taxi drop people there. bus services straight back to JB-Larkin i think only those mentioned, coz normally what i saw at CIQ, for public transport just these only, other is bus kilang, van only.

And it is best to find job that have more stable working hours if you going to stay JB-Larkin

when i first came to sg, I didnt know singaproean cant speak malay cause their national anthem was in malay! Only found out when I was having lunch with my new singaporean colleague when I casually use some malay words in my conversation. They couldnt understand me, then only did I know they dont speak Malay. Even malays here speak English.
Just last month, I went to Punggol point for a walk,  pretty popular fishing spot. I saw a few funny looking trap, and asked them what was it (in English), then they mentioned crab. The malay boy jokingly mentioned to his other friend "budak ni tak pernah tengok perangkap ketam".
Then I took a pic of it and replied "Boleh ker? Ni boleh tangkap ketam? Ada ketam kat sini?". The boys looked at each other and started laughing cause I speak malay! Before I left, I told them, "I orang Malaysia la"

Co-broke means, tenant hv to pay commission (half month) to agent (agent represent yourself astenant) and landlord will pay half to his. Note that in Sg, agent not suppose to act for both parties. They can only take commission from one party.
blood test (HIV test to be exact), & lungs.
*
But i thought with or w/o Co broke, we still need to pay agent half month commission if we get the room thru agent?

not really leh. "Co broke" on a listing isn't really a message for the (prospective) tenant. It is a message to other agents that this particular listing already got tenant and landlord agents, so a "third" agent is not welcome.
*
So from what i understand for your sentence, if they state welcome Co-broke, mean they allow agent to help them? right? rclxub.gif

Yes, you are right. I thought he meant for tenant. if mentioned "Already co-broke". But Co-Broke to tenant doesnt it also mean, commission is payable?

*
oo, because from what i saw, their either stated there Co-broke : welcome or did'nt mention at all. this is really confusing... icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

QUOTE(deodorant @ Jul 11 2012, 03:09 PM)
well, for example a landlord engage an agent, let's call him Agent A. then this agent go and pakat with his friend (also agent, called Agent B). Agent B then goes and lists the property on some website somewhere and he says "sorry agents, already co-broke" on the listing.

now enter you as the prospective tenant. If you see the listing, you call up Agent B, then if the deal goes through, Agent B will represent you and Agent A will represent the landlord.

or let's say that you lazy to do your own searching, and you engage an agent (agent C) to help you search. This Agent C will not even consider this property at all, because Agents A and B have already agreed to co-broke the deal together.

On the other hand, if the listing says "co-broke welcome," then it's a different scenario. In this case, Agent A has not made any exclusive arrangement with any other agent, so Agents B and C (and D, E, F ... Z) are all welcome to bring their prospective tenants to deal.
*
Oic. i think i understand about the term co-broke, thanks deodorant.

So with agent better or without agent better?

Since anwar confident that take over the malaysia......??

HDB steps up enforcement against PR Subletting Under regulations which take effect on Wednesday, Housing Board flat owners who are permanent residents will no longer be able to sublet their flats for an indefinite period of time.

Presently, flat owners who are Singapore citizens and permanent residents are allowed to sublet their flat after the minimum occupancy period. The approval is granted for a maximum of three years per application, and owners can apply to renew the period of subletting upon the expiry of each three-year period, said a Housing Board spokesman on Wednesday morning. There is also no cap on the number of renewals and the total period of subletting, he added.

Under the revised rule, permanent residents will only be allowed to sublet their flat if they have not done so before. The approval will be granted for a year only, instead of three years. Upon expiry of the one-year period, the application to extend the approval will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and approval will be granted only if there are extenuating reasons, said the spokesman.

The total period of subletting during the flat owners' entire duration of the flat ownership will be capped at five years.

How can you say PR is no use?? it still help you to get better job with better paid.
