Hey guys,

Lets start a discussion on deck strategies that you're running either Extended or Standard or whatever. We can discuss the current metagame that you meet during your weekly FNM or Arena and so on.

I personally run a standard deck, the U/Rzatron version, very similar to Osyp's deck in PT Honolulu. But I've taken a more aggro approach. I sideboarded all but 1 meloku and put 3 ryusei in it. I've also replaced tendo for shinka and miren. Shinka as you know, first strike...kills everything with 5 or below defense. Miren in case your keiga is screwed with fetters or any lockdown stuffs, you can at least sac it for life.

My casual deck is the Hunted Leyline deck. Very good synergy. Leyline of Singularity + Hunted Horror + Hunted Phantasm and a bunch or counters and blue spells. I would say this deck is average, however when the pieces are out fast, its unstoppable even with zoo or rg aggro.

So lets talk abt what what decks you guys own and play against this days. We can also begin speculating stuffs that are coming out in Dissension or ColdSnap

i'm a little confused between lands that have stats but are still lands till the end of the turn and lands that becomes creature till the end of the turn...
wut are the advantages of each type?
and wuts the best setup for decks that utilizes both of this? or jz either one?

Actually, the reason why I put Siege of Tower is becoz of its versatility. Can say a part of combo with the Blue Leyline.

magnivore is decent but need a clear field to taqe full advantage or its unblockable...

7chai, I don't really understand why'd you put boiling sea (i'm assuming your burning sea = boiling sea). Your main deck is 95% blue. Only siege of towers are red. Why'd you play boiling sea? Eventually u'll screw urself up. And djinn dun really fit in the place. By the time you play your djinn, your instants or sorcery are almost used up or something. Djinn is the last stuff to come out of your maindeck coz it has a high mana. 3 of it is really a bit too much. Dats why ppls dun play djinn. Should put hunted dragon and hunted phantasm (UR) or hunted phantasm and hunted horror (UB fast deck)

u know why ? coz u not might not yet play with another Blue Red which based on Counter Spell + Niv Mizzet.

And thats why I wanna side board it. Imagine, what can a Niv Mizzet do if all his Island destroy and by that time I got a hunted phantasm, 2 3/1 land creature which neva bound to my Leyline. Or maybe I could just cast out a magnivore which doesnt even need an Island ? But still, I gotta test it out with the person 1st.

Djinn I would says it was an optional. And another Hunted Dragon I would says is a wise choice, but of coz I dun wanna put in too much highlander creature. Still, the open hand Leyline would be help out alot.

the 1st trial would be on tomolo, sunday.....i'm sure ipoh will have it's own trial, as well as penang....Most probably it will be within this few coming weeks.

Card tat beneficial for the long run, bird, wrath, pain lands, dual lands, specters, savannah lions, isamaru, burning tree shaman, kokusho, meloku, pithing needle, cranial extraction, umezawa's jitte, loxodon hierarch, dark confidant, gifts ungiven, char.

all this is standard t2 and had been and will be played in extended as well. as for uncommon there is putrefy, lightning helix, mortify

for extended there is chrome mox, sword of fire n ice, orim's chant, isochron scepter, cabal therapy, eternal witness, psychatog, life from the loam, call of the herd, troll ascetic ,ravager, blinkmoth nexus, all those sac lands,

magic addict: currently i have 2 standard deck, 1 of them if BG aggro/control, another is eminent domain, and my gruul beats is 90% complete as of now....before guildpact, soemtimes i play monogreen elves deck(which can do 4th turn kill), but after guildpact electrolyze makes the deck unplayable, too many 1/1s in there(llanowar elves, elves of deep shadow, wood elves)lolx...

IMHO, the munkey is much better than a solifuge. Well, it's a must for G/R beatdown.

cdwk> take out Dryad, I know it have non basic land walk. but it would be better it have some kind of protection. 2 mana for a 2/1 abit risk. Dun say shock even a pyroclasm will sapu it away. I know u will say u wanna use moldervine cloak to pump, but I would call u pump it into giant solifuge.

Take out 4 dryad and put in 4 monkey. and then the rumbling slum take out 1, put 1 more solifuge in. About the scab clan mauler, I think u no need. Coz :

1st turn - drop Forest cast bird.
2nd turn - drop a dual land, if got lar. Then use bird cast ape = 2/3
3rd turn - drop another land or maybe rage pits. cas burning tree shaman. Swing the monkey.
4th turn - see either giant solifuge or rumbling slum. but I would drop solifuge 1st.

Yeppers. You can put either the dryad or solifuge in sideboard, but the big ugly monkey is a must in main deck. Depending on what to sideboard (dryad or solifuge) is really individual.

Dryad is cheap, and will deliver a few punchs before dying (if you never molder it up) Even if your opponent blasts it, its their lost coz this card is such a weenie.

Solifuge is violent. Sharp. Painful. And so is its mana cost. And its toughness. One shock takes it down. One darkblast suffocates its manhood. And no molder is going to save it. But in the long run, if you are able to mold it up, you practically have a monstrosity on board.

remember, in TODAYS standard R/G, u are VERY vulnerable to instant creature removals. Solifuge really looks cool when u cast it, but u feel cheated when they play a darkblast. and dredge it again later. and again.

The choice is really difficult to make. Playtest with either both cards to test how often each actually help you win, or even how often u are able to cast it, against different decks.

my opinion? well, from all the years i've played mageeeek, i'd go for the dryad main deck and the solifuge sideboard. i'd prefer overrunning them with creatures. (And dont anyone dare say mass removal, coz such cards screws the solifuge-build too, and the whole damn R/G deck. but if someone plays a Wrath, wouldnt it be better if u hav a dryad? since its cheap, and after the wrath u cast a dryad and another cheap creature)
