You're missing the most important part: One with All.

Its theoretically possible for a Monk who has perfect Act IV / Pony gear to get 98.21% damage mitigation.

Unfortunately, no matter how you slice it, it is impossible to solo Act II with anything less than 40k HP.

Go straight for an 800 if you can afford it. Money is not hard to earn, any decent stat gear will sell for 25k~50k. Moreso with the recent mass spread of the resplendent exploit, 800dps weapons are fairly cheap right now and worth the investment.

i gotten the game late too as i was waiting CE to ship from USA LOL.

most of my friends are like 30-40 ish when im starting with level 1
and i wanted to take my time on normal cuz lol lore/dialogs etc. only start to rush on nightmare/hell.

able to get this far because i took 1 week leave off work. (mon-friday whole week), so including 2 weekends, thats 9 days of dedicated d3 lol.


as for boon of protection, yes it does absorb, however since patch lolnerf, its irrelevant now. 1k hp absorption cant even sustain any damage from inferno.

Yeah I suppose. Coop doesn't really help things though as my group is fully decked out in A2 gears but the average health and damage is just too overwhelming in Act 2. Main contributions will come from bflash and MoE to keep the DH/wizzies alive, NOT that we don't already die to everything...instantly.

Addendum: I find it helpful to use Screaming Skull on my DH. You should get your group's DHs to use it because it helps immensely with crowd control, moreso when they can just throw it out almost infinitely.

where r u getting the 98.21% mitigation from? Can give the sos? It involves a CRAZY gear with armor n res reduction of at least 90% on one and over 80% on the other.

With that gear act 1 is a walk.
Mine's alrd about 84% mitigation but am still upgrading

I've been forging goods, and I find that I've waste a huge amount of coin just to level up the blacksmith. Forged items are sub-average at this point.

haha. same can be said for nightmare and hell mode.

Act I alone can die countless times. And more deaths along the way, usually when high speed mortar, arcane, molten, extra health, jailer, waller, whatever combo monsters come in trio.

i don't mind the deaths, I mind the walking back to the crime scene!

perhaps we should looking for some gear anti those mobs with this kind of effect the most i hate is vortex and teleport mobs. i always encounter the situation that the vortex and teleport mobs Vacuum causing the combo disturbed

lol u need luck when bidding, hopefully there's no one there to outbid u!! and of coz gold!!

for me i always dont like to bid and keep a lookout on buyout price only... cant always keep track on the bidding price

i probably think that u always get lower dps and stats due to that u never filter the character column when searching for equipments.. go direct to the items for specific character ie filter "Monk" rather than filtering by "yourID Monk" coz when u filter by ur ID, items appear to be lower by a few level than ur current level.. thus the lower dps and stats on items

btw how does damage reduction and resistance works? which comes first?

i.e.

armor 60% reduce
resist 60% all

say 10,000 damage comes in

armor first?
4,000 remaining?

then another 60% from resistance?
total is 1,600 ? from original 10,000 ? but which one is counted first?

1 - (1600 / 10 000) = 0.84

so 60% and 60% would be about 84% damage reduction? O_O

oh, also, the 60% is only 60% if the monster is the same level with the monk, in inferno, all monsters higher level one right so it is not 60% liao yes?

my maths fail.
armor or resist first does not matter. end result is the same.

i.e.
if 60% and 60% then
1 x 0.4 x 0.4 = 0.16

if 40% and 60% then
1 x 0.6 x 0.4 = 0.24

if 60% and 40% then
1 x 0.4 x 0.6 = 0.24
