Let's not beat around the bush. The Galaxy Nexus is definitely the best Android phone available today -- it's possibly even the best phone available today, period. Sure, it's not perfect -- we're disappointed that the camera doesn't deliver the same wow factor as the rest of the handset. It's an alright shooter, but it's just no match for the state-of-the-art. There's also room for improvement in terms of build and materials quality. Still, there's no denying the satisfying look and feel, the stunning display, the impressive performance, the excellent battery life -- the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts. The Galaxy Nexus is the best Android phone ever made. It's one of the best smartphones ever made, and with a couple of minor tweaks (particularly to the camera), it could be the best smartphone ever produced.
Still, there's really not much to knock here. The hardware is elegant and smartly designed. The software is beautiful and useful. Google has cleaned up a lot of the bad, and replaced it with a serious amount of good. It's faster, smarter, and a lot more friendly than any of its predecessors. Ice Cream Sandwich easily gives iOS and Windows Phone a run for their money, and in many ways, it's a superior operating system than either of them. If there's a bone to pick, perhaps it's with the size, which could be off-putting to some, or the fact that right now the only carrier you can definitely get the phone on in the US will be Verizon. But those are minor blips on the radar, not show stoppers.
Since day one, I've been waiting for an Android device that lived up to the promise of such a powerful OS. I think I can stop waiting now. Full review here.

The Galaxy Nexus is so important again because it's the only time Google gets to dictate everything - the hardware, the software, and update timing. There's also the element of freedom, with unlockable hardware out of the box. I find myself wishing that Google had begun its adventure sticking it to the carriers with pentaband WCDMA support like this phone finally has, as that would've been much more successful than the practice of releasing a few different Nexus variants with different bands.
As far as Ice Cream Sandwich is concerned, it really is Android perfected. Everything is smoother, faster and nearly all of our issues with the OS have been addressed. ICS brings Android into 2012 and gives Google a great platform to begin to introduce new features going forward. Android is now very close to UI performance parity with iOS, which eliminates a major tradeoff you had to make in the past. If you were hoping for ICS to be iOS with a Google logo on it, you'll be sorely disappointed. However if you're a fan of Android and just wished it were smoother and more polished, Ice Cream Sandwich is what you've been waiting for. Full review here.

Make no mistake, this is the best Android phone around today. It’s impossible to divorce Samsung’s hardware from the Ice Cream Sandwich experience, for the moment at least. That may change as more manufactures offer Android 4.0 phones, but for now it’s tough to think of going back to a Gingerbread or earlier device. ICS’ finessed software works beautifully with Samsung’s hardware and – with the exception of the camera, perhaps, which can be a minor blot on the Galaxy Nexus’ score sheet – the sum of the two parts is massively compelling. While there were some hardware complaints, and even though Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich isn’t the most intuitive or user friendly operating system, it’s absolutely one of the most powerful. Android 4.0 is coupled with the best smartphone Samsung has ever produced and easily leapfrogs any other competitor’s device.
Unfortunately in the Android world, this hardly lasts a long time, and as we have started to see in various leaks, there’s going to be some serious competition for the best Android smartphone in the world over the next few months. For now, though, this marriage of hardware and software, under Google and Samsung’s direction, is an absolute winner. Full review here.

Personally, I’ve already been taken in by the Galaxy Nexus’s charms, and have been thoroughly spoiled in the process. It’s the most impressive smartphone I’ve ever used, and after just a few days, older versions of Android already feel ... well, old. Many other phones will get a taste of Android 4.0 in early 2012, but make no mistake, the Galaxy Nexus is the device that ICS was meant to be used on. The sheer speed of the hardware and software, combined with the slickness and beauty of the new stock Android UI makes the device a joy to use. Full review here.

The Galaxy Nexus is the best Android device ever because it’s the best all-round Android phone. Not only is the design almost flawless but the screen is sharp, the camera capable and the software a huge leap forward. Considering it will have a software lead of at least three to four months on any new device being released with ICS, for many people it is reason enough to upgrade. Ice Cream Sandwich is the biggest leap in smartphone operating systems since perhaps iOS 2 to iOS 3 (or maybe iOS 4 to iOS 5, we can’t decide) but it fundamentally alters the way Android users interact with their phones. Beyond those gimmicks that don’t work as well in the real world as they do on television commercials, Ice Cream Sandwich’s main claim to fame is that it’s a more-polished version of Android — it’s easier to use and more aesthetically pleasing than any of its predecessors. Bravo, Google — I’m looking forward to further refinements of Android, and if this leap forward is any indication, the world’s most popular smartphone operating system has even brighter days ahead.
Couple that with this gorgeous and subtly curved handset, and you have yourself a winner. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is by far the best Android phone I’ve seen yet. Full review here.

In a nutshell, the Galaxy Nexus is the best phone I've ever touched before. This is easy to say for a couple of reasons. Up until the Galaxy Nexus, my hands-down favorite phone was the Galaxy S II (specifically the Sprint and international versions) and the Galaxy Nexus is rather similar when it comes to in-hand feel and build quality. That said, the Galaxy Nexus goes above and beyond with a modern and sexy design that makes you feel like you're holding the future in your hand. Full review here.

Based on the above definitions you wouldn’t think that Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus (SGN) is actually a culmination of anything good, particularly in the way of an Android phone. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the most exciting Android device I’ve had an opportunity to review. Not only does it feature an exceptional design by Samsung and an impressive list of specs, but it’s also the first device to utilize the newest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android 4.0.
It is, without a doubt, the best Android smartphone of the year.

AP Set?

If you're contemplating on buying AP set, jpaq has some advice for you to consider.
QUOTE(jpaq @ Mar 14 2012, 04:38 PM)
It's all a matter of luck, bro. Many people who have bought an AP unit has had no problems whatsoever. However, there are some who have experienced faulty units before as well. To be clear, I myself rather not buy an AP unit.
But do ask the seller about his one-to-one exchange policy. If he says if there is any problem within 7 days, and a one-to-one exchange is allowed within that period, then it is pretty fair for an AP unit. But then, ask him further, if the 2nd unit is also found to be faulty, then what would be his policy. Then consider what he tells you. If you find it acceptable, go ahead and buy it and have fun. Oh, and do get the name of the guy who attends to you, for future reference.
However, do be meticulous with your checking of the unit. When at the shop, check as many things on the phone as you can, at the bare minimum, check for any scratches, dents, cracks and chips. Check for any colour peeling or dis-colouration of every physical part of the phone that you can see, including the logos. Also check the battery cover for any breakage in the clips. Another phone shop seller once told me that he got in a unit from his supplier where one or more of the battery cover clip(s) was/were broken.
Do switch the phone on and inspect with your naked eye for any abnormality in the display. Also see whether the display responds ok with your touches. Then slip in your SIM card and make a few calls. Check for any abnormality in the sound coming out from the earpiece. I have had an earpiece problem before. Not common, but it happened to me. Then ask whomever you are calling whether you sound clear to them or not. Then ask that person to call you back to check again.
After all that, when you get home, do play the heck out of your phone. Go google for apps which let your check for any defects in the display, like dead pixels, etc. Plug in a set of earphones (your fav or the in-box ones) and test. Play some songs through the earphones as well as through the speaker. Listen for any crackling sounds or other abnormality. Make calls, send SMSes, emails, etc. Plug it into your computer to see whether everything is working as it should be. Use the phone fully and even stress the phone if you can (but I don't mean physically!!!).
If everything works out ok, great! If not, go back immediately to the seller. Be firm (but not rude) with the seller when conveying to him your problem(s). If he had promised a one-to-one exchange earlier and you are within the time given, insist on that. I have to add that many sellers would rather not have to do a one-to-one exchange if they can help it. It means that they would have one less phone to sell. But insist on it if he has given you his word. And if he tells you that there is currently no stock to exchange for you at the moment, insist that a new unit should be given to you no longer than in 2 weeks time. Otherwise, ask for your hard earned money back and get the phone from somewhere else.
Honestly, I have not dealt with this directd ever before. From the forums, some say he is ok but could be perceived as a little stuck up. Ignore all this when your are dealing with him. Just be professional and expect professionalism from him as well. Keep it strictly business.
All the best.

5MP S5K4E1G is the camera sensor that is used in the Galaxy Nexus
QUOTE
The S5K4E1G is a highly integrated QSXGA camera chip which includes CMOS image sensor (CIS) and CCP2- compliant image data interface. It is fabricated by SAMSUNG 90nm CMOS image sensor process developed for imaging application to realize high-efficiency and low-power photo sensor. The sensor consists of 2608 x 1960 effective pixels which meet with 1/4 inch optical format. The CIS has on-chip 12-bit ADC arrays to digitize the pixel output and also on-chip Correlated Double Sampling (CDS) to reduce Fixed Pattern Noise (FPN) drastically. The image data interface performs data formatting, image compression, Image scaling and serial transmission using Sub-LVDS. The host controller is able to access and control this device via CCI bus. The S5K4E1G is suitable for low power camera module with 2.8V/1.8V power supply.

I get the feeling I could repeat this a hundred times and people wouldn't listen, but here goes:
The number of megapixels on your camera phone does not matter.
Please, read that again. And again.
The limiting factor in your camera phone is the physical size of the sensor and the lens. You aren't going to resolve much good detail past 5 megapixels, AND you will start contributing heavily to noise by shrinking the photosites.
The new iPhone 4S camera is great, but it is not great because it is 8 megapixels. It is great because it's a high quality sensor and a nice lens. It is great in spite of it being 8 megapixels.
I have printed poster-size with a Nikon D2h. That was a 4 megapixels camera. Those were 4 very high quality megapixels with the right glass on the camera. Having more, lower quality pixels is not the right way to approach cameras. From binary vision at Android Forums
alternatively, if you seek to get better photo with the Galaxy Nexus, you could consider getting extended lens option from Photojojo

Insufficient storage space?

Why does this phone not include a Micro SD slot?
QUOTE
There are many reasons floating around, but the reason I’ve seen by at least a few Googlers is that if an app utilizes an SD card’s storage in some way (say, storing a user’s data) and then the user removes the card, that app has to be programmed to handle the card’s disappearance. It’s easier for developers to code apps that keep everything in the internal storage (e.g. the app’s folder in /data/data) than have to handle the presence/absence of external media.
Without an SD card, how can I flash ROMs, back up my data between wipes, etc?
QUOTE
The internal media storage space (for example, the ~13GB left over in the UK model) IS subject to being wiped when user data is wiped (since it is mounted as /data/media). However, custom recoveries have been made for other devices that skip wiping this directory, so once CWM or another recovery for the GN comes out with that feature, you won't need to back-up your media folder before wiping.

Its a SGX540, the same one in the Nexus S, but significantly higher clocked, running at 384mhz.
QUOTE
Iit's only the GPU that isn't as fast (the CPU is as fast as anything on the market right now, and faster than the iPhone). This will be the third fastest GPU on the market, behind the PowerVR SGX543 of the iPhone, and the Mali-400 of the Samsung Galaxy S2. For most tasks, of course, there will be tons of horsepower available for things like hardware acceleration of the OS, basic processing tasks, etc. These are not generally a challenge to most GPUs. The real question is, how will it handle games or apps like Google Earth or other 3D-intensive apps?
Think about this: when game developers release a game for the PC, do they optimize it so that it will only run on the brand new, top-of-the-line, $600 graphics card? Of course not. They wouldn't sell many copies, would they? Expect the same here. The PowerVR SGX540 of the Nexus is a potent GPU, one of the fastest on the market. Not being the fastest shouldn't be a concern. From Android Forums
Also, if you didn't notice already, games that are actually fun don't rely on polygon counts to sell the game, ie. cut the rope, plant vs zombie, coin drop, etc etc. If the iPhone 4 with SGX535, a lower end GPU than Nexus S, can have great game titles, I don't see how the G Nexus can't.
Food for thought, if the G Nexus can already play 95% of the games in the market (the other 5% being Tegra3 exclusives ), what significance does it make that the GPU scored lower in benchmarks?

Only had a brief listen on mine using some Yuin PK2s that I have.
I've come from an Xperia Arc, and before that I did have a SGS2 for a while.
I've not had enough time to make a definitive view but at this stage, the Nexus sounds more open than the Arc (which had a warm veil to the sound imo) and seems to be able to drive the Yuin's much better than the SGS2 - my ears will give up before I reach max volume this time around.
To my ears, at this stage, it offers a pretty well balanced sound - plenty of detail resolved without sounding overly harsh on the tracks I have tried. The mids certainly sound better than the previous 2 phones mentioned from my recollection.
Not had a play with any equaliser settings yet as I prefer listening without tweaking these in any way if possible.

I have compared the Nexus to the GS2.
1. Don't worry it blows the GS2 out the water. Highs are high, lows are low. Tested with .flac on same settings via power amp.

3. Speaker is very low. Not as loud as cm7 on GS2 but hey the quality is OK.
4. Gone are the days of the Bluetooth audio crackle via A2DP. It has very good quality via A2DP even compared to GS2 CM7.

Facebook won't sync with Nexus Devices because Google and Facebook had a little spat back when 2.3 was released. Google+ application settings on an Android phone will automatically upload new photos and videos to a Google+ album. There's no need to panic, though, as the photos and the album itself will remain private until you sign into Google+ and specify which images you want to share with select circles
To disable automatic upload from the Google+ Android app, select "Settings" within the "Menu" screen and uncheck "Instant Upload." Now you have control of which mobile photos make it to your private Google+ album.
The Instant Upload settings allows for further customization, including uploading all existing photos on your phone, uploading only when connected to a WiFi network (good for those with capped data plans), and uploading only when the phone is charging.
If you've ever had or used Picasa, there is a chance you've got an album there that Google is picking up and syncing.
Click on the "My Photos" tab, click on the offending album, click on the "actions" tab, and choose "delete album".
To delete the synced photos from Gallery
Go to Settings > Apps > All > Google +
Then press the "Clear data" button.
Now when you go back to the gallery the instant upload and any photos linked in Picasa will be gone.
You should also disable the syncing before doing this if you don't want them to come back again.

Multitasking?

QUOTE(mark @ Mar 14 2012, 08:52 PM)
There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding running apps, multitasking, background tasks and such.
When you launch an Android app, the task is active/running. You use the app, play with the app, etc.
When you exit back to the home screen (or go to a different app), the app is stopped. This means that the app is frozen and will not run/take up battery/etc. It also means the Android OS can freely kill that task if the Android OS needs more memory for other things (i.e. you opened up a really heavy game, you haven't gone back to that app in a while, etc).
So how does multitasking work? How does your app check for email in the background? This is done by something called services. Services run in the background, you don't really see it anywhere on your screen. Even when you quit your app, it still has a service running in the background. It checks your mail even if you're not in the app, it checks for new messages when you're not in the app. If you're busy downloading something using your browser, and you go to a different app, your download still continues, because the browser is running it's own download service in the background.
An example to this would be WhatsApp. If you don't open the app, how does it check for new messages for you? It runs the WhatsApp background service to check for messages for you. You don't have to open the app to keep checking for new messages, it already runs by itself in the background. The Android OS takes care of what services to run, kill, etc automatically for you. That's why if you use a manual task killer (you shouldn't, btw), after a few minutes you'll notice the WhatsApp service running again.
This, of course, does not apply to ALL apps. It depends on whether the app developer has made such a feature available or not. Let's take Draw Something as another example. It doesn't have a background service, therefore it doesn't notify you if you have new drawings to guess.
tl;dr, to answer your question, you don't have to open viber/yahoo/gmail/gtalk to get notifications. The notification part of these apps are running in the background and are checking for new messages for you.
Also, regarding the ICS tasks button, all the tasks listed there are "frozen" apps... the apps themselves aren't running and aren't taking any CPU resources.
For better understanding, you can also read up on the Android Activity Lifecycle, but it's more technical and more for programmers: Android Activity Lifecycle

Don't worry, it is perfectly normal if you feel that your phone is heating up around the camera area, especially when you are using your phone, even if its just minor activities. (you don't know what's going on in the background).

Rubin is explaining what makes a “Nexus” phone, as opposed to any old Android phone. Basically, Google gets deeply involved in the design, working with the hardware maker and the chipmakers. Rubin notes there are over a million lines of code in Android.
“So much work goes into producing the UI and the changes that you make, and then typically what happens is that the OEM’s put their skins on it and put their own touch. Does it bother you that so much work goes into it and in the end, a lot of consumers don’t interact with the UI as you intended it?”
Well, it would bother me more if we didn’t have programs like the Nexus program. The idea behind the Nexus device is to do exactly that – to give consumers an option to use the baseline work that we do if they choose…the philosophy of Android, the idea that partners can customize Android if they want to, is really important to making Android successful. There are Android phones (Nexus). And there are Sense phones (HTC). And there are Philblur Motorola phones. And there are TouchWiz phones. And so on and so forth.
With the Nexus line, Google has its flagships, its models of how its operating system should work. The broader world of Android is more like MS-DOS—the original "weak OS." Every version of the software is retailored and rebranded by its manufacturer. Even some software has to be rewritten to conform to different machines and their varied specs. But what you get is accelerated development of hardware and broad interoperability between machines, which benefits both users and developers.
Why does this distinction matter?
If you're an Android user, you may simply have to accept that you didn't buy an Android device running Google software; you bought a device from Samsung, Motorola or Amazon running Samsung, Motorola or Amazon software. Unless you have a Nexus, Google's more or less invisible on your device. Finally, you're never going to be able to just pull a brand-new software update out of the cloud and stick it on your machine. Not unless you're up for a little hacking. From Arstechnica
QUOTE
There is on one specific reason why I want the Galaxy Nexus so bad. It's everything brought together in a single device, all of the gripes and disappointment in other, non-Nexus handsets that I've had over the past two years and the thought of using Android specifically how Google envisions it. Not everyone will agree, not will everyone understand. But we all have our reasons for the preferences we have, and a run-of-the-mill Android phone just doesn't cut it for me anymore. From PhoneDog
QUOTE
But that is the philosophy of Android, a philosophy that had eluded me until now. To Google, Android is an operating system. To companies like HTC, Samsung, and Motorola, Android is the building-blocks with which they will build their own unique devices.
Google makes Android phones. Apple makes iOS phones. HTC makes Sense phones. Samsung makes TouchWiz phones. Motorola makes MotoBlur phones.
I've absolutely loved using my pre-release Galaxy Nexus phone running the new version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich. It is truly beautiful hardware with incredible software. By Larry Page, CEO of Google

In this post, I’ll be talking about the rooting process of an Android device as far as my best knowledge allows me to. Regarding ‘root’ itself, please consult the many definitions around the internet. In short, it is a special permission granted to a user to perform low level operations on a system (like backing up your Angry Birds game data, or changing the boot animation). 'Rooting' is the process of obtaining the means to grant this permission.

those who dislike the micro lag when opening app drawer, this is the mod for you. After reading that thread, main cause for this seems to be that the home screen is killed to make space for other apps in memory, so there will be times where the home screen requires redraw. What this mod does is make the home screen the top priority in the memory process, so it doesn't get killed easily or not at all.

If you are having problem in applying wet SP, which is a must if you're looking for something that covers full front of the phone, here are some tips written by droid13579
Before you begin, cut your fingernails and wash your hands. This is to prevent nail damage to the skin and minimum the risk of bringing lint, dust and dirt.
Location to skin application: There are few locations are suitable for application: Steamy Bathroom (is a PLUS since steam is capable to trap dust) Bathroom Kitchen Bedroom Study Room/Guest Room
As long you switch off any air ventilation like fan, air conditioner. Lock your door and windows, your fine to proceed. Clean your area, to minimum the risk of bringing lint and dust.
After cleaning your area, prepare your own solution (if they don't provide you) try look for a shallow dish plate or spray bottle. Put 2 or 3 drops of mild soap and mix it with water, and you now have your own solution.
For mild soap, I suggest using baby shampoo like Johnson baby shampoo or any dish wash liquid.
Once your have your own solution, prepare your own version of squegee card if they don't provide you. Any credit card would be fine but make sure they have straight edges to prevent damage your skin during squegee.
Now you have those two main stuffs, time to bring out your paper towel or microfibre cloth. Personally, I prefer paper towel because it is easily available than microfibre cloth, or anti fog cloth is good to go.
Once you have those stuffs, bring out your skin and read their instructions. Some might give tips for application process.
Time for application, first wash your hands once again and clean them with your paper towel.
Before application, clean your device with your microfibre, anti-fog or paper towel to remove smudges and dust on your screen. TURN OFF YOUR DEVICE, REMOVE YOUR BATTERY, ENGAGE THE ON SWITCH!
For Spray Bottle method: Spray your non-adhesive skin for two pumps, then wet your fingers with your spray. Peel your Skin, immediately and give like 3 ~ 4 pumps on adhesive side.
Now place on your device screen, and align it with your fingers. Your skin should move freely for this time. After you have set your alignment, leave your device like 1~2 minutes.
After 1~2 minutes, prepare your credit card or squegee card. Start push your access liquid and air bubbles from middle to the left or middle to the right while try not to move your skin, DO NOT squegee the skin to hard or it will leave marks, or causing miss align.
Keep squeegee for like 5~8 minutes to remove all bubbles and use your paper towel/microfibre cloth to trap any water/liquid to prevent get into the device. After that, clean and damp the screen with paper towel/micro fibre cloth.
Now your skin should be like clean and zero bubbles, if they do have don't peel or being paranoiac. Look for a windy place and place your device there for 12/24 hours. Those streaks, micro-bubbles will dissipated during these period.
AND NOW YOUR SKIN SHOULD BE LOOK CLEAN AND BRAND NEW!
Shallow Plate "Dip" Method for Wet Screen Protector Application
When I said Shallow Plate to Dip your solution is not to immerse your skin to your solution. This might be tricky but if you do it properly it also gives a good look when it is done.
First, Prepare a shallow dish plate fill with water and add 2~3 drops of baby shampoo/ dish wash liquid mix with your finger and you have your own version of solution. Not to forget prepare your anti fog cloth/ micro fibre, paper towel and squeegee card/credit card.
**You may use warm water as an alternative.**
Now, wash your hands and clean your device to remove all those dirt, dust, lint and grease. Not to forget remove the battery, turn off the device.
Begin to dip the non adhesive side, a shallow dip is enough not immerse the skin. If it is too wet, shake vigorously to remove big water particles. Wet your fingertips by dip into your solution and peel it. Give shallow dip for non adhesive side and shake it.
**If you think shake vigorously still look wet for both sides, try wipe on one direction like butter on toast to remove excess water, liquid.**
Immediately, place your skin to your device and leave it for 1~2 minutes. Now your skin should move freely, and try align it in this time. Remember align it with your fingers gently by recognize it front facing cameras, proximal sensors and ambient sensors and front speakers.
After 1~2 minutes, start squeegee with your credit card from middle to left/right then up to down. Don't squeegee too hard or else you will damage the skin. Do this for 5~8 minutes.
**While Squeegee, try damp the excess solution and not to push the solution to cut outs**
After 5~8 minutes, wipe/damp the excess solution with paper towel/mircofibre/anti fog cloth. Your skin should look free bubbles. If you do saw a streaks, micro-bubbles. Don't be paranoiac and peel it, find a windy place at let it dry for 12/24 hours.
NOW YOUR SKIN SHOULD LOOK CLEAR LIKE IT WAS NO SCREEN PROTECTOR, TIME TO FOOL YOUR FRIENDS AND SAID I HAVE GONE NAKED WITH MY SCREEN

Try other kernel instead. I got same heat problem on the latest Franco Nightlines also. Normal surfing my heat will reach about 43 degree which is not normal. Flashed latest LeanTweak problem solved
Or u may try Franco 121 nightline which got alot good comments~~

Anyway, there's no point in getting quad core if you are not an intensive user, plus do you think your battery gonna last you long if you use it extensively? hahaha.
Definitely the new nexus if I'm gonna change this current one... I think the next one should be called Nexus X? HAHAHA

So far Acer / Asus / Toshiba - is on tegra 3... Tab 2 10.1 is on TI as well... really hope that the rumours of Exynos Quad Core will go to the next gen of Samsung Tabs..but price is going to be high...

Yes, this is confirm if not mistaken. previously samsung show tab 2 in dual core, but final launch should be quad core, they upgrade the spec dee...
i just hope they keep the buttonless.... coz i loves the screen without button... looks damn sexy and sleek
sure is buttonless next google phone, google are the 1 encourage all vendor follow the on screen button idea but current new htc, samsung & sony all are still using capacitive buttons.
beside Asus Padfone, wat else next coming up model using buttonless?

You will never know when it becomes malfunctioning right? Even Imoseyon also state the same thing when he had disclaiming about his exp kernel for OC and UV.
Sometimes, people not willing to UV cause of this, not all of chips have needed to OC.
Not all workers in Korea have fully checked, some phones had "by-pass" the QC. This is what we have call, human error.

Guys, anyone of you gonna change to current quad-core phone such as 1x and s3? or wait for next nexus? Is it need to have quad core to perform better? With GNex, i already satisfied of what it can do. So fast already. Why quad core? Just asking, noob here.
I like S3's Pop-up Play feature and quad core may help to reduce the lag while we're doing that. I found this while surfing:

If's that the case....Next nexus going to be TI again? please put a new GPU in it at least...Power VR SGX540 is old...
So far Acer / Asus / Toshiba - is on tegra 3... Tab 2 10.1 is on TI as well... really hope that the rumours of Exynos Quad Core will go to the next gen of Samsung Tabs..but price is going to be high...
the next version of OMAP, OMAP5 is gonna be amazing, and that's according to the release date standard Q3 2012.
28nm technology dual core Cortex A15, with 2 sub M4 cores offload the 2 main cores for less computionally intensive tasks (something like Tegra's 4+1, but this is 2+2). SGX544MP2 GPU (dual SGX544 GPU). To give an idea how powerful the SGX544MP2 is, the GPU used in the new iPad is a quad SGX543 GPU, the SGX543MP4, (the same GPU that PS Vita is using), already dominated the whole market, being the best GPU available, but the SGX544MP2, will be even better than that. In short, its a huge leap in both CPU and GPU department, compared to the OMAP 4460.
Its really too bad that Nexus can't make it with the OMAP4470. Otherwise we will have the SGX544 as our GPU, which is a more powerful GPU than the one that is in the iPhone 4S the SGX543.
and btw, the Exynos quad core 4412 that is in the S3, is actually quite a disappointment to the spec enthusiasts as they are a quad Cortex A9 chip. We were hoping that they could use the next generation Cortex A15, even if its dual core, its still a better CPU than the quad Cortex A9. Do more with less.

its impossible, the Nokia CEO is a former MS employee, and a shareholder of MS. Plus, they have invested too much into WP7 to pull out now.
Nokia is basically going down the drain now, unless WP8 is really so good that Android just looks bad in comparison, which I see as highly impossible.
Maybe sooner or later we will see MS buying Nokia

[UPDATE: The freeze clock bug is BACK! on B35 ]
Will report to RootWiki.

I have stop evaluating, back to M5 now. Happy ever after.
my intention is just to avoid coin or hard object direct hitting/touching the device only... so i serve my well since iphone somemore, i can wipe my screen directly with that, its lint free cloth
I dunno Nokia would put A-15 dual for their phones, basically they still using A8 single core phones for the lumia Flagship...
Still no idea about HTC side, thou
But who knows?
WP currently only support single chip, hardcore optimization done by Microsoft, thus no dual core, quad core funny chip, anyway, back to Android, the next few months is awesome
The Stick it app is small only, not even 1mb. After I finished downloading that, I still need to download a 3mb codec app. Then have to use Stick it app to actually play video or movie. I'm using MX Player all this while.
The video quality is so bad. Pixelsss, lag and everything, and when I try to drag or resize the window, the pixels slowly fade hahahaha. I didnt test much due of 15mins refund policy. Dragging window oso fail, tak payah la. Straight away refund
Nevermind la, we'll just wait for kanged S3 feature
Yeah but need more ghz power to buffer the same amount of data. Hence battary usage is going to skyrocket. * the person complaining that no screenshot in m5, check ur settings..
I had very frequents data disconnect. Any feedback after u revert back to m4? Still got data disconnect issue?
Waiting your feedback because it very frustrated data disconnect everytime i try to stream YOUTUBE around my house area which is kepong. Thank you
FYI : The data disconnect issue only happens when i at kepong area but it won't happen when i at office.. That why i thought the disconnect issue mostly because of "YELLOW MAN"..

i had the issue on m5 too. so i revert b to m4... Everything work fine..
Really? But before this I didn't face this issue before.
sometime, software is not build to cater for all the hw from telco... if that is the case, you might roll back to the version that you dun have data disconnect.... and monitor it and persist there is you can sacrifice not to have the latest version of rom or kernel.

What SmartReflex does is, it will recalibrate your voltage settings and set it to the stable level base on your voltage slots. Most of the time, it will stay at lowest voltage.

LK default SR on or off?
Should be ON, unlike Franco and Glados, they have option to turn off with their application.
If you want to use base on your undervolts, off smart reflex. If you are lazy, on smartreflex and let it do the calibration job.

Not the same, nillkin sp comes with case is either clear or matte. Those special SP you have to purchase it separately.
try checking the developer options, especially strict mode. If any of them are checked, uncheck them and reboot see if that helps.
Just unchecked everything. Reboot a few times. Still screen flash red border..and it getting frequent. I didn't do dirty flash tho. Wipe data, factory reset, wipe delvik cache before flash ROM..

Strange, I haven't seen anyone else reporting on this red border thingy on b35 in fact, it was quite long ago .
I'm running b35 + trinity rom without any issue. Data drop was an issue with stock kernel. Now keeping an eye with this kernel . Half a day had passed and no data drop yet .

Alright then I choose Franco for my kernel.. about baseband.. hmmm... mana satu elok ah... alamak susah nak pilih ni.. I'm using digi and does it effect on the baseband im using?
Important part, make sure all is translated. Which makes it hard to PICK!
http://www.miui.us/ http://miuiandroid.com/ both of them are senior or pioneer in MIUI translation, should be almost 100% done. the rest no idea.... translation is not my first concern but which 1 is better in performance and stable.
V6 SuperCharger does work on MIUI... I was able to use it for my SGS Captivate with MIUI ROM last time. However, I am not sure will it work on MIUI ROM for Galaxy Nexus...?
I have tested Galnet MIUI 2.5.4, it's GOOD! It just lack of some minor features only. Example: No build-in OC/UV Config like AOKP. No Adjustable NavBar like AOKP.
Meanwhile, I am back to AOKP M5 ROM. Because Galnet MIUI 2.5.11 is going to be here tomorrow or late at night today.

I think MIUIAndroid have done most of translation of the ROM. But, Silver said Galanets MIUI seems snappy, which makes me look forward to try it out.

OK, Base on surface evaluation. - The lock-screen is in Chinese, I think is Android 4.0 lock-screen version for MIUI. I have change to 2.3 ones, and it works like a charm and all English. It reminds me of my cousins Meizu the fonts are nicer than 4.0, I wish MIUI China redesign it especially the clock which is fugly.
- Whole interface is smoother now, but when moving icons from one home-screen to another it will have a slight lag just like 1 sec ones. Not a big deal, but smooth experience is a plus. Pinch to widget selection is smoother and more intuitive than other MIUI ones. I love it than Apex Launcher, LOL. I felt I have waste my money on Apex launcher PRO, when I mess with this MIUI launcher...
[Apex Launcher PRO have some animation lags when swipe to app drawer, especially the tablet which you will notice the lag]
-The wallpaper unable select for lock-screen due to resolution bug, is not a bug. Just that 4.0 lock-screen have minor bugs when setting wall paper on it. Change to 2.3 style and work as a charm. You still can set, on the 4.0 lock screen as well.
-Others, not yet test. But I found many utilities, like memopad, torch, compass, LBE privacy guard and premission Monitor aka LBE + Superuser?!
-I notice a flickering bug, on recent apps. Not a big deal since select brush icon can wipe everything away
I'm sold to Galnet MIUI now, now wait for it's latest release which promises every friday like MIUI
[I was testing from an unmod- virgin build]
Will continue evaluate when new build arrives

This week, MIUI will have some updates(important ones, there's still other minor bug fixes, etc) as below:
- Focus on improvement of battery and power performance when using the default variety lock screen, optimisation improvements over 80% significantly improving battery and power usage.
- Optimization of the system's text editor interactions (including text selection, copy, paste and clipboard), MIUI text editor system instead of the native Android.
- Recommended Tab in Mms.apk NEW setting to disable the feature (See: Messaging > Settings > Advanced Settings > Other > Hide Recommended Tab (MarkHUK Credited for this addition the ICS MIUI V4 base and thanks to Chengping Hua)

me also using lean kernel...my GNex always hot at the back cover when using franco kernel XXLA2 no issue for me rite now, no drop signals....
Thxx for the comments bro.. will give a try on lean. I remember when I get my my gnex with everything stock and on 4.0.1 ics the back and front is hot when I was browsing. Then I flash to yakju and the hot issue is gone. Hopefully this lean won't have that issue as u mention.
QUOTE(cheeloong1985 @ May 11 2012, 05:03 PM)
I'm using Lean Kernel plus LeanTweak.. I play samurai vs zombie for half and hour my gnex still stay around 38 celcius which is very good in my opinion..
I tried Franco kernel before but my gnex will reach 44 celcius just by browsing, not dare to play games..
Alright bro... will grab the lean and flash it. Thx for ur comments...

Download Manager for Android in fault I guess, I do recall it can be overwritten in some time, will disappear eventually.
Try clear your browser maybe it causes that. They temporary pull down because to prepare the new ROM 2.5.11 for Galaxy Nexus. The link I give is before they pull down, its a 2.5.4 ones.
Happiness is you could spend time with closest one.

We can see that the if in comparison of Specs, Gnex actually loses to S2 NON G set, but i truly believe that the spec might not as good as S2 but smoothness and the performance of it wins S2.. am i right GNEX user?

installing MIUI will void the warranty right ? did you guys already end your warranty ?
another question.. I just got my nexus yesterday.. what did you guys do with the stock input texting.. coz it seems to kinda bothering me with the auto predict.. now im installing the swiftkey x trial.. seems kind of ok. I know swype is da best but still not yet release for this ICS..? btw what did you guys suggest for texting
One more question.. did using a protector may protect from front facing drop ? Especially with the protector which the level is higher than the screen right ?.. kind of rubbery which may absorb impact. is that true ?

1st quest. umm.. yes, installing custom rooting will void. BUT... toolkit onthe other hand will sweep away ur tracks btw no flash counter like s2 i use stock to me keyboard is keyboard..not like laptop got teture and density n weight.. glass just feels the same and i just folo n adapt. 3rd quest. well face drop is 1 thing protector is reduce scratch. duno how ruber reduce impact but advisable to get cover that edge 1mm at least above screen so will reduce impact. nomatter what glass u choose, it will break if u put it under pressure. oh yeah, u say gorrila n lotus is strong? if u glue gorilla to a solid board and wack it it will break cuz how they are made strong is to enable the glass to flex more than usual as flexing and back is to send off the vibrations/pressure to edges. if it cant flex, the bond will tear hence break. remember y all ifruit case all glue, 1 dropp... btw high sprotector means nothing these days... check droidxxxx9 and opera33 nillkin, those r cheap, and seems preety good. only advantage of rubber is that itz flexible and fits our sceeen naturally.. branded stuff is just cheap stuff with name

Any live wallpapers for our phone that is not laggy?
I wanted this one The Avengers. to show off to my iPong frens but review said that its laggy and stutters..
Urm, the only magically working live wallpaper without lag which is Phase Beam, Nexus, Autumn Lake, Map, Analog Clock, Galaxy, Grass.
Because those wallpapers have embedded a line of code for enable GPU hardware acceleration which is enable by default.

new here peace
from bro silver suggest, Galnet MIUI. refer few pages back, got link included.
my thought: + fast boot up, no major issue, cam, connectivity ok. + colorful feel in default, you can switch vanilla theme + MIUI file explorer still good, ftp support + MIUI backup function included home screen - flickering recent app view - smooth launcher but less customization - lack of customization in setting - MIUI gallery FC
still monitoring battery life, if no go will switch kernel. I still like drawer, my alternative: ALL apps organizer. I will stay in MIUI because of the MIUI theme, easy and simple.

MIUI don't have appdrawer since the first day and there is 3rd party app can act like appdrawer. when talk about miui, most of ppl will take it like anti-ios. yes, default UI is alike but functionality is android. why so serious? when we can always change any theme we like.

the step is different? i just about to supercharged it. need extra step?
Yeah You need install BusyBox which you can get from Play Store or V6 SuperCharger thread on XDA. Then only you can start initialisation phase.
The rest should be usual, excluding 1 thing which require script manager (If you are lazy guy) Because it won't enable by default due the absence of init.d file.
With Script manager, you can enable /data/99SuperCharger.sh start on boot.
Without Script manager, you need to manually enable it from terminal each time you Reboot.
CODE
su sh /data/99SuperCharger.sh
That's all

I think you should try AOSP ROMs, since AOKP based might causing your frequent disconnection problem~ Like CM9, those base on AOSP CM9 ones would be your safe tag.

baseband should be impossible because 4.0.4 had fix it... bad configuation as I know you won't go to 4636 do something wacky... (personal judgement) so better go digi change new sim card, try again. If again, go SME claim warranty said you have problems with connectivity ... vice versa.

What is your carrier and give me your SMSC in +601XXXXXXXX format. I will do the "dirty" job for you.
Lol. Silly me == Forgot the basics, spoon fed by Aokp hahaha. Flash theme like Aokp? Can we possibly unzip file with our phone?
most of standard android rom change theme via the flashable zip. but in MIUI, is most easiest and fastest to apply theme. just copy the zip/mtz file to sdcard/miui/themes folder, then just open MIUI theme app. apply. tada, not even need to reboot and just few second.
downloading this: [MIUI v4 Theme] Suave HD-搬运

I had tested, the picture show above just for preview. the language is follow the system. the theme is only the design. so no need to convert. but except the lock screen not in english. no change from stock, so just using back stock lock screen will do.
yeah. those not prefer MIUI square icon design, can just browse MIUI theme online source directly. there is themed name "black android", revert back original android icon.

But I wonder why Bro Silver said... not good enough?

the smoothness still not perfect honestly, but is much better if compare to 1st release and now is acceptable for me. will give MIUI China team some time to resolved all micro lag issue.
just found this icon set, nice: please share if anyone found nice icon sets, thanks.

the smoothness still not perfect honestly, but is much better if compare to 1st release and now is acceptable for me. will give MIUI China team some time to resolved all micro lag issue.
just found this icon set, nice: please share if anyone found nice icon sets, thanks.
Hmm... yeah a bit micro-lag but it still acceptable I also look forward of next release.

the owner is MarkHuk. I don't like his attitude, always spam other ppl site which is better, always saying that ppl stealing his works MIUI Scotland is not the 1st victim, before that got MIUI-Au.com.

Gala MIUI better MIUI-Au.com also got talent but they don't support gnex yet.

i noticed that when you launch the apps page, then swipe to 2nd or 3rd pages, then press back or home to exit .... when u launch the apps page, it remains at 2nd or 3rd page where it won't default back to the 1st page

as u can see... it didn't fair very well on panorama, and +2 exposure was decent with near clipping however, if the normal shots was brighten with instragram, the details in the dark will be showned. sensor, good in taking hidden stuff. reproduction, same, can throw in rubbish bin.. oh yeah, iphone same spot, failed in hdr cuz too slow all blur..(boats was moving around at 2am...) just some fun..
Bro , next time try to get panaroma shot during the day, should be even more awesome.
Manage to fix my SC-04D with Nilkin Crystal SP and with white Nilkin case. Looks fantastic. I think my gf is pissed off with me as mine looks even better than her white 4S.

It's normal, launcher behaviour so next time, when users want to use the same app. They don't have to swipe unless they want to use another app which located on another page. Tap widgets and then tap apps to back to first back before exit then.

Using Video Converter can convert to 480p or 720p. Many Online or Offline converters available should done the job.
Hehehe. Got 1.35 d. It's smooth smooth smooth. Just don't like the boot animation only. Haha:x touch tone is great:D
I also flashed 1.35 this morning but Titanium backup refuse to open, it keep saying need rooting permission (something like that la.. forgot already). Restored back to Aokp
with MIUI File Explorer, I can throw away the WIFI File Explorer. MIUI File Explorer build ftp support. no need to use browser anymore like WIFI File Explorer. just like using USB connection, open our PC file explorer, copy and paste back to normal. extra bonus is the MIUI File Explorer also included in theme support. this morning wake up by MIUI Alarm, woow! the UI more handsome than android stock. but surprise there is no MIUI calculator, remain ugly android stock calculator.

Put your videos in a USB flash drive. Plug it into the phone and watch. When done, remove the drive.
Not to poison haha but 16gb internal memory is too small for me, until I use OTG cable + pendrives. I put fav songs inside GNex and the rest in other pendrives. I can always exchange songs + music videos whenever I got bored, on the go.
Tested my cable on lil bro's S2 too and it works perfectly, but not on GNote. I wonder why
cool. maybe i should buy that 1st if its practical to use.
maybe i can be firm with my decision after that heehee.
now im kinda in to buy or not to buy state
great accessories to have. beside pendrive, you can connect mouse/keyboard or gamepad. if you want to connect large storage or portable hdd, just connect AC-Powered USB hub, it's work as well. or 2 USB storage also work simultaneously.
