Nice nice!!! The Ronin-M is definitely freakly light! And I have to agree with @kayFX, you need to get at least a good field monitor or else you're sorta flying blind. I'm talking proper monitor and not those cheap ones from india, there's a huge noticeable difference.

But somehow, I don't like using the Ronin or any Gimbal systems. It doesn't feel natural albeit being quite "practical, easy-to-go" piece of equipment. I'd rather invest in a steadicam setup. smile.gif

lol on the monitor from india laugh.gif im looking to grab small HD monitor (DP7 or AC7) hmm.gif

steadicam setup isn't it a gimbal system as well? or do you mean a shoulder support system? i have a steadicam merlin II and balancing it takes forever shakehead.gif the tutorial by Garret Brown himself make me think what i did wrong.. need a LOT of practice to handle merlin.. my friend sold his and bought a glidecam hd2000 which is by far more stable and easy to balance.. nod.gif

Hahaha not stereotyping that india products are "one kind", but they're affordable tongue.gif
AC7 vs DP7 is a huge difference man lol, if cash isn't an option, then DP7 lor tongue.gif LOL, but it really depends on what your application is.

Ok, let me rephrase, I rather use the old school steadicam gimbal system as compared to the current 2-3 axis brushless gimbal stabilisers. lol. I've not tried the merlin before, but it should be a lot lighter and you can use for extended sessions due to the way how it's designed and how we hold it. But yeah i prefer the traditional steadicam style, with the post and sled and counterweights. Takes a while to understand the physics of the glidecam, but once you nail it, you're GODLIKE, to a certain extent la.

yup true enough smile.gif glidecam + support arm vest = total control.. but the setup koyak pocket lol.. the merlin design a bit hard to master because the handle and axis sit right below the camera.. is like trying to balance a camera on a pin.. and to test the drop time is PITA cause it can turn anywhere unlike the glidecam design where the handle is offset outside the camera COG.. the reason i bought merlin in the first place because of the compactness.. sweat.gif

btw DP7 Pro-OLED is wet dream lol.. hahah..

Around KL or Selangor, anyone know where I could find myself a unit of around 2-3ft of L-Shaped BNC cable?

Anyone knows?

Before I splurge on a full teleprompter, I backed the parrot teleprompter kickstarter.

One of the best USD 60 I've spend.
It's tiny, but it works.

There's a little reflection due to a bad(or nonexistence of) AR coating.
Perhaps I should seek to custom make a beamsplitter prism for this use...

Dear sifus, may i know what are the affordable
i)camera and lens
ii)shotgun mic
iii)stabilizer
for a beginner who only has a budget of maximum 4k icon_question.gif

I have d5300 currently in my mind though

http://www.lazada.com.my/nikon-d5300-242mp...19463.html?mp=1

this one seems like a good deal

It is really worth it. I personally recommend HD4000 as it is a great investment in the long run.
HD4000 easier to balance HD2000. based on my experience.

Bro, my answer. As for starter / beginner.

i)camera and lens - Canon 24mm f2.8 / Canon 50mm f1.8 / Canon 85mm f1.8
ii)shotgun mic - There are some cheap mic / recorder : Zoom H1, Rode Videomic GO
iii)stabilizer - Go for Woondland / Flycam

Personally, i would not go for Nikon if it was for Video. Canon is the best. Go for 60D / 70D.

performance after proper balancing more or less the same.. the Ronin require more strength to handle due to heavy.. the ronin operator have to rest after few minutes of handling while i can still go on.. the weight of ronin-M more or less like a glidecam HD2000 and if not just a little bit heavy.. despite the Ronin using a lighter camera (GH4), handling Ronin-M with a DSLR is more favorable.. take off the left and right handle and you can squeeze through crowd.. no need briefcase mode rclxms.gif and ronin-M has more versatility if on briefcase mode where you can take of the bottom handle and go lower nod.gif
for ronin must have proper check of the roll arm.. anything loose will make the motor vibrate.. this is due to the design of the arm which is a 3 piece assembly vs ronin-M a 1 piece magnesium alloy drool.gif ..
