After erase and reset did you re-download absinthe?

Follow first post.

1. Download 5.1.1 firmware (link in post #1)
2. Upgrade iPhone 4s via iTunes using the Shift + Restore method.
3. Download Absinthe 2.0.2 (link in post #1)
4. Follow the guide in post #1

Don't mess with the phone. If you update to 5.1.1 it may upgrade the baseband and your Gevey or R-Sim may not work

Absinthe requires activation and unless you have the original simcard, you will be stuck at the activation screen.

I'm not sure if there is a possibility of custom firmware or hacktivation for the 4s. So my suggestion is for you to stay where you are now.

Yes, it will wipe the phone clean. That is why you need to backup your iPhone to iTunes. Once everything is done, restore the backup and you should get all your game save back.

Idownload blog specifically mentioned that after you do the erase & reset all content you have to re-download the absinthe program which indicate to me that if you ran absinthe 2.0.2 and you have the lockdown problem, the you need to do the erase content & reset and THEN re-download absinthe 2.0.2 AGAIN. Maybe the program has some sort of memory and the problem can be resetted by downloading a fresh executable file. I don't know. Worth a try.

I am not sure. If you are already on 5.1, I am not sure if it will ask for activation.

What error? What version of Absinthe are you using? The latest version is 2.0.2

Hi bruce, i dun have antivirus installed and have disabled the firewall ready..also safari is unable to connect to internet as well,maybe its related i gues,something is blocking apple product..but dunno what it is..

Yes,the host file was a bit funny..so i adjusted those following the example provided in the host file itself by adding # at the front..could it be caused by tinyumbrella??

Yes, Tinyumbrella, if the option is not switched off in the advance tab will put the gs.apple.com line in your host file. This will cause all sorts of issues when you are trying to connect to the Apple server so put a hash (#) in front of those lines and try again

To make sure that Tinyumbrella does not do that in the future, just untick the option "Set host to Cydia after Exiting tinyumbrella. "

The new version is to jailbreak the new iPad 2 (the one with a newish 32nm A5 chip)

So if you have successfully jailbroken at absinthe 2.0, there is no need to rejailbreak.

If you jailbreak using Absinthe, absinthe will install Cydia with built-in Rocky Racoon package installed. This Rocky Racoon package is the one that is allowing the untethered jailbreak. So when a new version for Rocky Racoon packaged is released by the Dev Team, this new version will appear as an update/upgrade in Cydia. There is no harm upgrading as the package is updated to accomodate different devices. The first update was to accomodate the iPhone 4 with the new build 9B208 while the latest update is to accomodate the iPad 2,4 (the iPad 2 with the new 32nm A5 chip). If you don't mind seeing the badge in Cydia then you don't need to upgrade.

No need to rejailbreak actually. If you have successfully jailbroken on absinthe 2.0.2, then all you have to do is to upgrade the Rocky Racoon package in cydia and you'll be on the latest jailbreak package.

I think you can download the old build and do a fresh restore using that firmware file.

You cannot upgrade directly from the iPhone if your iPhone is currently jailbroken.

There is no absinthe icon in the iPhone. Absinthe is the computer program to jailbreak the iPhone and it will install cydia in the iPhone.

Have some issue with my 4s, whenever I have a miss call, I cannot slide to unlock. I have to press the camera button (near the slide to unlock bar) and that also is an effort. I think I need to do a fresh restore tonight and rejailbreak.

I had to kill the APTbackup restore before, and I remember previously that it screwed up my phone. This time, when I killed the process, the phone looks okay but I never had the same confidence. Might as well restore the phone.

Did my fresh restore and rejailbreak with absinthe 2.0.4 last night. The jailbreak was not too long. Less than 2 minutes (probably because it's a fresh restore).

Now need to do it again this evening. I did a merge of contacts using an app called Multi-edit and now some of my important contacts are missing. What a bummer.

The resync of all the apps is the one taking 20 minutes. All other action is not too long.

By the way, BiteSMS is having a 25% sale. Now 7.49 USD instead of 9.99, just upgraded mine from Ad-Supported to full license.

You need to use pwnagetool or sn0wbreeze and create a custom firmware for the 3Gs.
