Never ever sell your iPhone without doing a fresh restore. A lot of your identity is in the iPhone and if you don't do a full format of the iPhone, your identity can be stolen. Even if you are sending it for repair, do a full format as they can backup everything on your iPhone and restore that info on another iPhone.

Lesson learnt. I you don't do a full format this is what the guy can do

1. He can connect the iPhone to iTunes and he can authorise his computer and di a FULL backup of your iPhone. All your photos, your SMS, your wifi passwords are toast. He can have access to those items everytime he connects another iPhone and he can basically restore your backup to any iPhone devices and unlimited iPhones.

If that doesn't scare anyone from doing a full format whenever the iPhone is out of your hands. I don't know what will.

This is another reason why you should never ask anyone to help you jailbreak your iPhone without doing a full format also. You never know what he is going to do with your iPhone.

The one in iClarified (link in post #1) is the same file. Why don't you use that?

Apple really likes to Wow you with useless statistics. They really know how to market themselves. Other companies should try and learn a few tricks or so.

Who likes to dissect the above useless stats from Apple? Of course it was a shorter time frame .... OS X only controls 10 percent (AT MOST) of the computer market.

Microsoft should come out and say ... yeah it took us 26 months to get 500 million existing customers to upgrade to Windows 7, and it took you 9 months to get 40 million of your Mac users to upgrade ...... It took us 3 days to get 40 million users to upgrade by the way ...

If you are on 5.0.1, even doing a restore function, iTunes will download 5.1.1 I think. So it's probably better to download 5.1.1 firmware and do the Shift + Restore function.

I am always able to continue at the right level for my Angry bird games so definitely the backup saves the game save.

Yes it should be possible. You just need to create a custom firmware to preserve the baseband to enable you to unlock the iPhone.

Musclenerd has release a redsn0w Baseband downgrade tool for the 3Gs.

In short, redsn0w will downgrade the 3Gs baseband on 6.15 (the iPad baseband) to 5.13.04 which is unlockable via ultrasn0w. Even if the 3Gs was never on 5.13.04 baseband, redsn0w will install this baseband in place of the 6.15 baseband.

Your 3Gs is now able to enjoy its GPS functionality AND should be able to get cellular signal with the ultrasn0w unlock.

I have updated post #2 with the information and guide regarding how to downgrade your 3Gs baseband using the latest redsn0w.

Warning: make sure before you proceed with the guide to read the guide in full. There will be questions regarding the type of 3Gs that you have that will determine whether you can downgrade or not the baseband. So read the whole guide first and make sure your 3Gs is eligible for the downgrade process.

Did you download the 4.3.3 firmware? I suggest you upgrade to 5.1.1 as jackyyong mentioned. Maybe redsn0w is optimised for 5.1.1

Shouln't the baseband be 5.13.04?

Dev team will be releasing an update to redsnow soon to fix issues with 3Gs refusing to downgrade the baseband.

First post has everything already. I updated the first post when 5.1.1 untether came out. Need to read all the info because I did not delete any of the old information (because some people may not want to upgrade to 5.1.1 etc).

Look for the UPDATE header and you should find the information.

No. They cannot detect. The only way is to check if you have SHSH saved in cydia via Tinyumbrella and I don't think the apple people are going to go that route.
