did anybody say that they will be screwed? Nope, @Porie even asked if he can do a full restore after he did an OTA on his friend's iPhone and I replied that he can try and I believe he has successfully restored the iPhone 4s via iTunes.

The last iPhone I have (which has been fully restored to 6.1 and has its backup restored to normal) is the 4s. I don't have the iPhone 5 because I did not upgrade to that phone (I went the Windows Phone route and bought the Lumia 920) so I do apologize if some of my post pasal iPhone 5 is incorrect. Most iPhone for Malaysia uses the GSM firmware but I guess the iPhone 5 is a bit different.

I have been jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones since the 3Gs days. I now have an iPhone 4, iPhone 4s and 2 iPad 2, all jailbroken one way or another.

There is a window where TU can get the SHSH from Apple server. Once Apple comes up with a newer firmware version, the window for the previous SHSH signing closes. So since Apple has come up with firmware version 6.1, then TU can only get from apple server SHSH for 6.1

now getting the 6.1 SHSH is not a bad idea since Evad3rs team will come up with the 6.1 jailbreak. So save that 6.1 SHSH.

No need. Just download the correct firmware and then use Shift + Restore (PC) or Option + Restore (Mac), a window will open for you to select the downloaded firmware and iTunes will do the rest.

DFU modes are usually for jailbreaking and most jailbreaking method now has not been using DFU mode for a while.

Depends on what device you have .... if iPhone 5, then maybe you need to wait for the tutorial from either redmondpie or iClarified. For the 4s, should be okay as long as you have all the relevant SHSH (I know there's some weird SHSH that you need to have). Check the Re-Restore tutorial in iClarified. Some requirement to have this SHSH with that SHSH .... not as straight forward as before.

See I knew this would happen. Apple is waiting for Evad3rs to release on Sunday and by Tuesday (patching a bug excuse) they will close the loophole. Need to update the wife's iPhone 4 tonight before Apple close the loophole.

I'm not sure if the downgrade is as straight forward as the 5.1.1 re-restore (which in itself was not as the usual downgrade or restoration process) so I would say, probably need to wait for the dev-team to come up with the guide.

Now, if I read ion1c tweet correctly, Apple is going to release a 6.1.1 patch on Tuesday and if this true, then you only have a 2 day window to upgrade to a jailbreakable firmware.

Yes, if you do a Shift + restore, no matter if your iPhone is currently jailbroken, it will wiped the iPhone clean (something like a fresh format) and install the firmware file you download.

Did you download the firmware already? Check also your host file and remove any line that says xx.xx.xxx gs.apple.com

Some apps now require 6.1 to be able for you to update the app. Some like to get the new features of iOS 6.
