Currently I'm on siyah 3.1rc6, not sure is safe or danger version. Which one is the safest way to reflash this kernel? Usually I will flash with recover mode + wipe so I think my previous flash with this method will be my last

Use tar file and flash with odin, mobile odin or cwm app.

Btw many people mention about front camera FC on siyah kernel which doesn't happen on me. In the same time also trying to understand the storage mounting issue

The mounting and front camera FC issues only exist in AOSP/AOKP rom if not mistaken, if you are on sammy's rom shouldn't encounter these.

I'm on Siyah 3.1.2 now and observing.

I interested to get this Samsung Galaxy S II.
I am currently using Nokia E72, never use touch screen before, I would like to know is the below features/functions available if I buy the Samsung Galaxy S II?

(1) While texting (sms) a paragraph, can i select (Highlight) a portion of Text I typed ?
Example:
Hello, how are you doing? I'm going to London this weekend.
From the above example, can I select to highlight the Red Bold words only ?

(2) In my Nokia E72 qwerty keyboard, I usually press & hold "CTRL" + "C" to copy the words.
Can I do this in Samsung Galaxy S II ? If cannot, how to do this in a shortest way to Copy the selected Words ?

(3) My existing Nokia E72, I press & hold the Space button, the LED Flash will lighted & act as a Torch Light when I'm in the dark.
Can Samsung Galaxy S II do the same using its LED Flash ?

Appreciate if someone can help find out.

1. you can select, copy and paste texts that you are typing... I don't think however you can do that for texts like i.e. in the browser or other documents.

2. no need for buttons. touch the text, options will appear and you should be able to follow the instructions.

3. the LED of course can be used as a flashlight

1)You can highlight the words you want to by long pressing on the word, there should be two arrows, then you can drag them to where you want
2)Do the same method as 1), then select copy
3)You can download a flashlight app from the play store, its simple, just search flashlight and download the first one then you're good to go

Ok getting front camera FC after reflash 3.1rc6. Then flashed to 3.1.2 still the same but no a major problem for me.

I just flash neak kernel. Can't afford to brick my one n only smartphone. I will buy S3 but want to keep my S2 forever.

set the phoen not to show sim contacts la. or are you trying to make a display pic to show for the sim contacts in sms?

1) yes, of coz. if browser text, you might need to press and hold the text then the indicator will pop out.
2) hold/press>press indicator>indicator will spilt to two, then you move the indicators to highlight the text, then the copy button will come out.
3) yes

#1 and #2 can't be done in iphone, #3 i dunno, so dont consider it

I also used siyah rc6 before. But revert straight to neak kernel when read the issue with siyah. Don't want to take any chances mate.

using D4 with latest siyah 3.1.2 as 3.1.1 has messed up mount points for me...hope I dont run into any problems lol. Wanna try thovaruk soon!! and also voku~

S2 got so many kernel now:sweat:

wonder how is the performance of abyss AOSP

S3 maybe not. Will keep using S2 for now.

hmm, done downloading everything. luckily mybackup works like tb. xp. want to flash cm9 now. i'm just wondering i came from 2.3.4 to hydrogenic. so is it safe to use the cwm recovery method in cynogen xda thread? cuz it says 'Make sure you're running ICS bootloaders lower than LPH'. how am i gonna check mine in hydrogen? thanks!

Please get your facts right as iPhone can do the 1st and 2nd with no problem.

Maybe he was using last outdated iOS? I know that iOS 1 and 2 didn't have this feature. Correct me if I'm wrong.
