if it's not the internal temp issues IB is a perfect chip for OCer. laugh.gif
btw, mind to share what board, RAM & cooler are you using? biggrin.gif

hahaha... good luck to finding golden chips lo... hehehehe

From various sources i observed
3770K vs 3570K
Generally at the same clock 3770K needs vcore 0.1v less than 3570K
Somemore 3770K comes with HT.

Eg:

3570K @ 4.5GHz 4C/4T needs 1.3v
3770K @ 4.5GHz 4C/8T needs just 1.2V

Now i only dont know at this clock which one generates less heat? Theorethically HT is hotter.

of course 3770K

Intel has probably fine-tuned the HT in IB.
It runs at lower voltage with HT on.  laugh.gif

Added on May 3, 2012, 9:48 am
That is a good voltage at 4.5GHz.

3770K is better binned than 3570K.

available already?!?!?!
*

By rights i should get the retail 3770K today. All KL based LYN resellers/retailers i asked all 3770K are fully booked & cannot allocate stock for me sad.gif

Swisspac BJ complex listed 3770K in their price list but no ready stock & pricey.

hello everyone, among these board, can help me to decide which to get for 3570k?
1. Asus p8z77v rm649
2. MSI z77a-gd65 rm649
3. Asrock extreme4 rm465

All have the 12 phase power design, i am not fancy on those exclusive feature by manufacturer btw.
which will have better OC performance?
*

Asus's BIOS is the best for OC with better support.

May I know what is the maximum BCLK you can hit on IB?
*

so far the highest BCLK i've seen is 110MHz.
Depends on chip & mobo, but IB & SB is not suitable for BCLK clocking due because it's tied with PCIe frequency. SB-E & IB-E for BCLK OC.

Stock Fan only @ full load prime95 for 2 hours.

I am very new to this please bear with me. Current setting
Ratio: 41
freq: 103
vcore: 1.2

I tried this but din work.
ratio: 45
freq: 100
vcode 1.33

It does boot but only runs at 3.8GHz max.. look like temperature is slowing it down 67C.
*

IB is born hot. 67C on OC is considered as very low already. Max is 105C. You would only start to worry when the temp is hitting 90C. IB will not degrade like SB.

unfortunate my 3770K shipment has been delayed. Latest ETA should be today. Well let's have a pop corn while waiting lol. Another stuff i'm waiting is Asus 680 DCU2 TOP as well as the yet-to-be-released Maximus V Formula. biggrin.gif so expect some 3D benchies to be delayed a lil bit.

I have to use mATX because my HTPC system is using Lian Li PC-V350.
I owned wide range of motherboards, from premium to budget mobo.
I never had problem to overclock with mATX.
I managed to achieve the same overclocked result with budget mobo (i.e 4.4-4.6GHz with Nahalem and Sandy Bridge).
*
OCbility for sure Asus is top atm, especially with their mATX ROG MVG.
RAM lovers would love these mem profiles.

user posted image

Basically you could just play with any RAM powered by any IC, it's an awesome board man.

QUOTE(ALeUNe @ May 12 2012, 02:00 AM)
I heard Asus has slow boot up (it takes a long time to detect hardware at bios boot up).
So Asus users, do you encounter slow boot up with your Z77 mobo?
*

No, my MVG boots very2 fast. Press POWER button & wait for 7 seconds then straightaway can use PC.

user posted image
* taken on Intel X18-M G2 160GB SATA2

but like any other mobo, it will boot slower when you turn on raid, 3rd party SATA ports, etc.
All these extra features have bootrom that you could disable or enable in the BIOS.

Just wondering if my Acer Aspire V3 ivy bridge can be overclocked...safely... XD
*

No you can't & mobile CPU is not meant to OC or you will end up toasting your chip.
On Alienware laptops MIGHT be possible, like kelvin_hata OCed his mighty Alienware lappy powered by i7 2920XM (SB though)

Guys, just playing with my i5 3570K and P8Z77V-Pro, still new to this Z77 after jumping from X58  sweat.gif

[attachmentid=2836010]

100 x 41, Priming for 2.5 hours and counting.
BTW, can someone clarify me the differences between manually set and offset Vcore?
*

Welcome to IB club & congratz on stability rclxms.gif

All offset voltage does is change the voltage under load. So, if your stock voltage is 1.30v and you offset it +0.05v, you will get 1.35v under load. It allows your computer to idle at a very low voltage. Basically the offset is how much voltage you want to add to your CPU under load.

Manual = voltage is always that unless affected by load line calibration LLC.
Offset = whatever the Intel set VID voltage is + your offset

So if your VID for 1.6GHz is 0.900v, with +0.050 offset you will make it 0.950v
VID at 2.5GHz is 0.950v, you will make it 1.000v
VID at 3.2GHz is 1.050v, you will make it 1.100v
VID at 3.7GHz is 1.100v, you will make it 1.15v
etc....

You might wanna go through this guide completely written for offset clockings:
Overclocking Using Offset Mode for CPU Core Voltage

btw, I always use manual OC.

yup ive tried max out the vcore. and i can get 4.5ghz to boot, but fail when stress test. increasing to 4.6ghz would result no boot at all.
*
From 4.3 to 4.5 if you didnt change anything else other than multiplier increment then just bump up vcore until stable/pass.
For 4.6 maybe you should try enabling the Internal CPU PLL overvoltage, if your mobo has these bios setting.

Just bought an i5-3570K.
However, I couldn't find Asus P8Z77M at any PC ship in Danga City mall @ JB.
I bought a Gigabyte Z77M-DSH instead. It is the only mATX Z77 mobo I could find at Danga City Mall.

Will assemble it tomorrow and find out how it fares then.

It's ok test the Giga mobo & feedback here. smile.gif
