what DBW specially designed for CVT?

what cockery is this sleep.gif

Read the vacuum meter, you'll understand the throttle controlled are meant to protect automatic gearbox(including CVT). Most of the time conventional auto gearbox wear off pretty quickly due to sudden acceleration/deceleration. And I believe the current DBW are meant to protect the CVT also.

QUOTE(dares @ Apr 30 2012, 04:07 PM)
Well then it is meant to protect the entire drivetrain, CVT or not. Your statement that dbw was designed for CVT was kinda misleading, considering it was implemented in Proton cars long before CVT was even on the drawing board in Proton.
*
You're right. Sorry kinda misleading. I know its long there in many Plotong before our CVT implemented. Plotong was planting the idea for us to have more advance hi-tech driving experience in the future, and thats the only reason why DbW was introduced in our car. The entire DbW existed for many reasons, such as traction control, steering control, brake by wire control(who knows Plotong will implement all those in the future). And therefore, with ONLY drive by wire, without having other WIRE feature in the car is a total waste of effort. However, thats my own opinion. Not against anybody or provoking.

QUOTE(xshiro @ Apr 30 2012, 04:23 PM)
i think dbw is there to cut cost...
*
Gas pedal to throttle body linkage cable related information available in Wikipedia-Bowden Cable
Cable for OLD PLOTONG GAGA 1.3/1.5 S/I Cap ayam RM25, USPD RM75
Cable for PLOTONG WIGA 1.3/1.5/1.6/1.8 fuel injection Cap ayam RM35, USPD RM80
Throttle body for Mits 4G series engine range between RM150 ~ RM400. Most of them can be REPAIR.
You snap the cable, you replace the cable. Your idling mechanism worn out, replace with throttle body service kit, RM40. Butterfly already worn off, cant close tight anymore, change throttle body RM150. If cable snap, you can't accelerate.

However, when DBW failed...
QUOTE(Wikipedia)
The condition is rare and does not occur suddenly. It can occur when the pedal mechanism becomes worn and, in certain conditions, the accelerator pedal may become harder to depress, slower to return or, in the worst case, stuck in a partially depressed position.

Read more on TOYOTA VEHICLE RECALL and there is a great chance you see a wanna stop at the junction, you release the pedal and your engine continue to rev up and finally crash into the cross junction traffic.

And no, DBW cost more than cable link throttle
QUOTE(Wikipedia)
The cost of DbW systems is often greater than conventional systems.

yes uncle didnt you read the whole article, why compare cap ayam cable? and you can use the same thing in any proton new model..gen2 exora persone prevet..this is where u can cut cost...

and added flexibility for new tech...

and emission too...

Now I get what your PREVIOUS post mean. So you mean cutting the R&D cost isn't it rclxms.gif I was trying to point out future consumer maintenance efficiency laugh.gif Don't get me wrong, I'm a farking BLM lover. Nowadays new model all also BY WIRE ady la. Our Plotong currently using DbW by the state of the art nia. Running BLM with DbW not even with the CVT, all I get is lagged throttle response. Today is my 1st experience in driving a CVT with DBW, now everything makes sense icon_idea.gif

actually i depends on tuning..you can tune dbw to response even better than cable..

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=46490970

you can add the device...
*
Err... dont think I will change the throttle response liao. According to what I've read from my vacuum meter, there is a lot more conspiracy in the ECU tuning. Thanks for the headsup anyway icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(dares @ May 1 2012, 02:20 AM)
Just now on the way back on MRR2, right after I passed David, I gassed it and sped towards Cheras.

Wasn't going terribly fast, at most was 110-120 on the right lane when I pass by another white BLM with sports rims who was cruising leisurely at 80-90 kmh in the middle lane. Then I notice this Perdana in front so I wanted to see if I could catch up. I didn't wanna race, just wanted to see if I can keep up when going up the slope after Connaught.

After the slope I moved to the leftmost lane and slowed down because I was taking the Tesco Extra exit, that's when that white BLM overtook me and took my place behind the Perdana. Then only I realize that BLM has been chasing me since I overtook him, but I was so fixated at the Perdana I didn't notice him behind me at all  laugh.gif  laugh.gif  sweat.gif
*
Following you "closely"... around 100meters away, the BLM did cucuking you blink.gif I didn't do anything stupid as petrol is my main concern, until Pandan Indah, accidently overtook both Perdana & BLM, then it begun shakehead.gif Up to Keramat Au, MyBi joined in. Pergana dulan ady, overtook everybody and disappeared. After I saw this, I also dulan drive 60kmh and ended the battle mad.gif Was a long-long night. MRR2 course TimeTrial sweat.gif

This morning, after breakfast at nearby mamak stall, finishes my roti telor+pelanta+bawang+pisang+banjir with a glass of the tarek, off I paid money and walk towards my white horse hensem prince GAGA. As I approach, saw a schweet young chick getting down from her black devil GAGA with skirting. For sure I will not let go of this opportunity quickly disarm my alarm(beep!beep!) brows.gif now she realized a white horse hensem prince GAGA is here! Before I get into the car, I purposely start my engine so my vacuum meter will light up. Fuah! Damn "yeng" lo! brows.gif The chick can't help but notice my ride also very attractive, keep starring at my pillar holder. I purposely pretend didn't notice her, I open the door wide, then...

"BANG!!!". ph34r.gif ph34r.gif

Bump my head on the door frame :shy: quickly drive away...tongue.gif

need ur guyz advice.. Open or drop-in ..auto ar... Drex said drop-in better...
*
Drop in bro. Planning to get 1. Few of my concern:

1) Always see people build a HOUSE in the engine bay just to protect the pod from eating dust+hot air

2) Original hose can continue use the PCV valve(the breather @ rocker cover)

3) Reason of having an airduct directly connect to air filter bcos that is exactly how cool air intake supposed to be.

4) Drop in filter is more comfortable, less noise

Oh well... Its MY opinion laugh.gif btw, how much can u get for a dropin? If price is good, pls count me in so we bulk

And also in the engine part of the vid, it briefly explain the crucial part of how the length of air intake affects the pressure and in turn, affects power output.

If anyone want to steal your car, be it 1,000,000 lock you installed, a tow truck come, jack your car, hook up the front tow hook, put 2 sets of trolley wheels to handicapped your handbrake. Say bye bye to your million dollar locked up SAGA. That's what the DBKL does to my friends VIPER+GPS secured Plotong Putri laugh.gif He sumore go and repork polis say the car got stolen, then found the car at compound rclxms.gif

Wanna buy or not, up to you. 1500 is definitely expansive. However, I wouldn't let anybody do any demo on my car unless they give me full sets of UR bars I can install by myself nod.gif

Whilst I was installing the racing filter to increase intake volume, suddenly thought of this, why in the hell I go & purchase a paper type cabin filter for my aircon? Original is polene type hi flow, whereas now I change the original paper type intake filter shakehead.gif
