Sorry to say this bro, but i think your new rims really make the car look very 'ordinary'. Not really sure why u went and changed the rims. But its your car so your taste i guess.

Nice one from brunei..nice rim..really gel-in with the car  thumbup.gif
Ermm...dunno...but i still think the stock rims are better. The car design gives it a solid feel so if the rims have 'holes', then its sorta looks disconnected. This rim design might look better on a lighter coloured body. But thats just my taste i guess.

Trade in for 2300.00 n top up 5k.... Tyre size is 245/40/19... Highway cornering moderately improved in term of stability but at a bit cost of comfort... Normal driving was the same in my opinion.. Steering feel was slightly heavy than standard.

CM98: thanks for your comment, you indeed answered your own queries...  tongue.gif
OMG! U actually spent RM5,000 extra for those rims?? shocking.gif

QUOTE(bUGG @ Jul 13 2012, 01:55 AM)
I change my fog lamp light to LED type. Just replace the bulb only. no cutting no modify, very easy to DIY.

The original Halogen bulb is very hot to the touch after switching on for 1 minute, no wonder some owner facing fog lamp cover melt. So I never switch on my fog lamp until today.

Using LED Pros:
1. Low electricity consumption 3.6W only. The original osram bulb is 35W.
2. Cool, very cool, can't feel any heat at all, infact the fog light front cover is still cool after I test drive for 30 minutes.
3. The light color matching the K5 Day Running Light LED. It looks better now with fog light siwitch on.

Cons:
1. Dim, can't really see the difference whether I switch on the fog lamp or not. That is because our K5 HID head light is bright and white color, so with the original halogen yellow bulb, you can see yellow light, whereas the LED is more to white color.
2. Fog lamp are suppose to use yellow color bulb, so if you go genting often and u need to use the fog lamp, I don't recommend using white/blueish light.
What brand LED did you use? What was the emitting wattage?

Perhaps you can the try the silicone type of wipers OR get the shorter blades. ELSE probably the wiper motors are at fault. Just some thought..
No la. I had this problem with my previous car as well despite silicon wipers. Kia changed my wipers FOC but still no difference. I dont think its the motor as the sound is from the blades.

In my previous ride, whenever I encounter the wipers juddering, I will apply a layer of rain X which will always solve the problem. Depends on how you look at it, some people may be reluctant to apply it..I apply it usually when a layer of waters forms on the windscreen after rain... Have not applied on my K5 yet though..
But does it solve the problem or is it a temporary fix only?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmTCxkavzKU&feature=fvwrel

its totally bad!!! yet i still like it..but abit worry on the safety and the value
Bro, do you know anything about crash tests in the first place? What do u expect to see? Zero deformity in the outer body in order to be classified as strong? Go check out the crash test for Volvo and then compare.

The Kia Optima K5 got among the highest safety ratings by the National Highway Transport Safety Association of America (NHTSA) in 2012. Its frontal impact ratings were even higher than the new BMW 5 Series. The Optima also got a higher rollover safety rating compared to the 2012 Volkswagen Passat. The Optima was also rated higher than the new Toyota Camry 2.5V in both frontal and rollover crash ratings despite the US Camry version has got much better safety specs than the Malaysian version.

Just want to share the story about my previous problem regarding no sound coming out from the speakers. I had the problem last Sunday, sent my car for 1st service on Monday and made a complaint about the problem at the service centre. I was told the amplifier was the culprit & they needed to order the amp from Korea since Naza didn't stock that particular part. I was also told that it could take up to 3 months for the part to arrive.

So yesterday, I wrote an email to Naza Kia Client Management Division, asking them if there was any way that they can expedite the delivery of the amplifier. About an hour later, I received a call from a nice lady, telling me that they have received my email and will sort out this problem as soon as possible. Not long after that, I received another call, this time from the service centre, telling me that they have received authorization from HQ to replace the broken amplifier with amplifier from the showroom car. Then when the new amplifier arrive, they will put back into the showroom car.

This morning, I sent my car to the service centre and just now, I've collected my car, with the problem solved biggrin.gif

I would like to applaud Naza Kia Malaysia for very fast response rclxms.gif This is the kind of customer service that will definitely put a smile on customer faces. I hope they will maintain this level of customer service, so more and more people will consider Kia when buying a new car.  Good job Naza Kia Malaysia  thumbup.gif

Dude, this is only the first and rare situation, you haven't faced the other side of KIA service, stay tune!
Bro, ive had a Kia in my house since 2006 and its still being serviced at Kia. It was due to this that i dared to leave Toyota and get a Kia myself.

If u read my previous posts, ull see that i too have experienced really good service at Kia. My rear shock absorber seemed a bit bouncy to me. So i informed Kia and they just changed both sets of shock absorbers FOC under warranty although nothing was wrong with it. I also complained about squeaky wipers and that too was changed FOC although wipers are not covered under warranty. Although my wipers are still squeaky, they have now ordered the entire wiper arm assembly to change for me. But i think the problem lies in the windscreen itself which is probably due to some cleaning agent. My front driver's side power window was a bit 'rough' going up and they changed the motor FOC although i now realise that the 'roughness' is not really rough but normal.

On my last visit, i complained about a bad smell coming from the aircon for the first 5 secs after a cold start. They immediately serviced the aircon, replaced the gas and oiled the compressor. All FOC although this aint covered under warranty. They also did a free allignment and balancing on 2 occasions. Once when i complained about a jumpy steering issue and the second time was this week when i went into a pothole. Again, both not supposedly covered under warranty but still done FOC.

In all my 9 years with Toyota servicing at numerous SC in Johor, Melaka, Selangor, Perak and Penang, ive never experienced this level of service. Yes Kia has some way to go before they can match Toyota but im very sure they are on the right track now and its being proven day by day. Check out the Kia Forte thread if you still doubt.

Hi, im going to be a proud owner of K5! Tday my SA called me saying that on this 23rd the car will be ship to Kuching, Sarawak. Waited for abt 2 months for it. I need somE help, my SA told me that the shipment will consist of 2 white, 1 silver, and 1 that new colour. And he said, I will be given the VIP speciality to choose which colour i want as soon as the cars arrive. So, since you all already view the K5 on the road, which colour suit BEST and Outstanding for K5. Thank you
Its a decision ull have to make yourself. Ull get owners here telling u all 3 colors are good so pointless to ask.

But in my opinion, the Bright Silver is the easiest to maintain. Not washing for 3 weeks is fine and isnt noticeable. Plus if ure in an accident, its the easiest color to match. Also, the silver has this brilliant shade of color when parked under a night street light. Looks very classy and surely is a standout even during the day with the DRL's on.

The Pearl White is also good but somehow i feel it doesnt show off the car enough. The Optima Pearl is slightly different from the Toyota version which i prefer.

But i think the Optima doesnt look good in dark colors because the car has got a really good design and good designs go well with lighter colors. Also makes the sports rims stand out.

Something KIA need to do better is their SA. Mine was completely useless and I see alot of complaints here also. After driving my car for 2 weeks, I don't even know which insurance co I am covered. I ask about the windscreen coverage till now also no news!! So I gather their before sales sucks and after sales thankfully is better and improving
Yes this i agree too. I brought this issue up a number of times on LYN and also on Facebook. Many of their sales personnel do not have the technical knowledge about the car. Others have this 'tidakapa' attitude especially in dealing with walk in customers. Ive had 2 bad experiences with sales personnel from Red Cube PJ and also Kia Jalan Lahat, Ipoh. Sadly both were of a certain race (i dont need to mention which race). Both were damn lazy, didnt keep to appointments and didnt even bother to return calls when i was enquiring bout my trade in car evaluations. And all this was despite the fact that they both knew that i was a serious buyer and i had already made up my mind to buy. Finally, i dumped both of them and booked with another outlet in Ipoh.

SA's like this should be sacked immediately as they give Kia a bad name and its a major turn off. mad.gif

guys i feel if you face any of the SALES AGENTS really ruin your life getting the K5 in many ways, please publish their name and the contact number, which branch and some other info's of him/her..This could help other members avoid them self from getting conned or screwed. In the other ways you do can promote those who, does good service to you all... the public could have clear route to get their dreaming driving machine...At the same time NAZA KIA can also monitor those spoiling their name behind...
Yes i agree. We should publish their names and branch on the first page as well in addition to informing Naza Kia HQ.

Let me share an experience recently. I posted a complaint on Facebook regarding some lazy staff at Kia Ipoh. Immediately the next day, Kia HQ scanned a copy of the Facebook post and emailed a warning to the SC. The Service Manager immediately called for a meeting screwing the staff in general. I know this because 1 of the service guys called me up and informed me the following day. Now when i go there, i dont see ppl sitting around joking and laughing.

In short, i think Naza Kia is serious about improving their after sales service. So lets support them in recreating the Kia brand in Malaysia. Give credit where its due but do not be afraid to critisize if required but do it through the proper channels. The same goes for technical problems with your Optima. Make sure Naza HQ comes to know.

I'm also considering a Kia and have been going to see them. Just wanna see what others have experienced with them.

U have any comment on the service level of the SC in Jln Lahat?
My advice is buy from Deluxe Point but service at Jln Lahat. So far, they have been quite good.

I checked with SC about the vent auto change..they told me it is normal because it is programmed that way so the temperature between in the car and outside somehow will be the same...I guess the reason behind this is the car is equip with anti fogging or something. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Nope. Not correct. Seems that Naza Kia HQ has advised all SC to close off the outside air vent permanently for those who have complained about outside air coming into the cabin during normal drives. The same was done to my car as well. No further smell except from the aircon during the first 5 secs after cold starting.

I notice it changes during start up. Say u shut off ur engine in circulation mode, then start up again,  it may switch over to allow outside air in. On a rainy day like tis morning in kl, the front windscreen still became foggy. Had to switch on the front demister. Strangely theres like warm air blowing from the front.
The switching over is a fault actually. Its not supposed to do that. Get the SC to rectify. They did the same for my car.

Auto wiper is not so intelligent, as sometimes it just waits for too long before next wipe. It should provide an option to choose for manual interval.
Yes the auto wipers arent as good as other cars. Its either too sensative or sometimes not sensative. Not sure if its a problem but i think we should collectively inform our SC's and Naza Kia HQ.
