Well the lower pressure in the tyre does reduce some of the road noise a bit. Will test later on the highway and see if it improves ride comfort.

Yes it might but it will only be marginal. Not something that cannot be overcome with a more economical driving style. Anyway, i dont pay for my fuel.

Yes my wipers were vibrating at the edges of the windscreen so not a clean sweep. Suspension they changed cuz they thought it might improve the jumpy steering issue. But yes, im quite happy that Kia is ready to replace things even though it may not be the source of the problem. Go ahead and demand a change. Im sure they will acknowledge.

Guys, if ure facing problems with your car, u need to inform Kia. Only then will it be recorded. Kia is compiling a lisit of common problems highlighted by owners so if u dont highlight they will just consider it as 1 off.

Yes the engine is a bit loud and rough during cold starts. But once it warms up, it becomes quite silent. This is more important i guess.

Added on July 8, 2012, 9:56 amNo i didnt notice any difference to the steering. Its still jumpy despite the change in rear shock absorbers. But i was expecting this as i dont see the connection between the rear shock absorbers and the steering. But i did notice the rear is more firm now especially during high speed drives on the highway. So i guess changing the rear shock absorbers do make a difference but not for the jumpy steering issue.

Yes alert Naza as soon as you can and make sure they record it down and inform HQ.

I think this was due to the lack of VSC. This model of Camry wasnt the model with the VSC i believe.

The fog lamps were replaced because the small bulb plastic cover melted and dropped a bit. So they changed both fog lamps FOC. Jumpy steering is still there. No difference after changing the rear shock absorbers.

Water accumulating in the lights normally mean a leak in the seals. But its different from water vapor. So if its actually water stagnating in the light casing, then Kia will replace under warranty. But water vapor will go off when exposed to heat.

Now its my turn to feel the pain. Was hit from the back by another car this morning. Nothing serious. Just a small dent. I checked with Kia and a new bumper costs RM 1250 not including painting & workmanship. The guy even had the cheek to say 'Wah finally i get to see how the new Optima looks like...damn nice eh?'.

Any good reliable repair shops in KL or Ipoh to recommend?

Heard that Mazda is offering Rm20K discount for the Mazda 6 2.0L. OTR price now at RM 133K. New M6 (Takeri) coming in soon i guess.

Its a 3 stage process. The first stage is when the distance to empty goes blank (less than 50km range). Stage 2 is when the low fuel lamp comes on when you have 2 bars left. If u continue driving, then the 2nd bar disappears and the final bar starts to blink. This is when u really need to fill up.

The amount of fuel remaining will depend on your driving style. But generally, once this final bar starts blinking ive only dared to drive another 20km before i filled.

Ill have to check the repair costs and then feedback the guy. BUt ill probably collect cash from him and then keep the money as im sure in the next few years someone else will bang me from behind. My previous Vios kena 3 times and i changed a new bumper every single time.

Dont think pic will show as its very minor. Can only see the dent when u look from the side.

Is the price increase for the CKD version with a few extras?

They will normally have some extras like maybe touch screen, GPS, etc

The sale figures are based on the number of cars registered for a particular make. The Optima had some AP problems for 2 months which would explain the low numbers. But its still far off compared to other Jap makes. But give it some time. I hope sales improve. But now with Naza saying they might raise the price of the K5, i dont know how its gonna impact sale volume.

Yes. People have this misconception that D segment cars enjoy the same resale values as B & C segments. But they fail to realise that the depreciation for D segment cars are much higher. Yes the Camry may fetch a marginally higher resale value in 7 years but to actually accept far less safety measures and specs just to get this marginally higher resale is a no brainer. Typical Asian mindset. Safety & value for money will always take a back seat.

Bro, if u really wanna spend the money and change your tyres then please go for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2. Dont bother changing to other brands e.g Hankook, etc. The only available size for the Optima is 235-45-R18. Its a better tyre compared to even the Michelin Pilot Sport 3. Very good reviews online too.
