Value is very subjective and measured differently by each different individual

In this respect, if you stack the Camry against all its competitors, it will look very very bad because it's as bare as bare can be. It's kind of like brand A phone vs all other brands.

If you consider the Camry based on its size, comfort, NVH, after sales and resale value etc, then it will look much more promising.

At the end of the day, I think it just boils down to how much you like the car to buy it, LOL!

partially agree what you said..just that some people insists that is a must to have VSC to ensure that he had the perfect car

conclusion..you are trying to prove that k5 is well better then camry..since k5 has all the features?
Thats in your head. Im trying to tell you the importance of VSC in answer to your earlier statement that VSC is NOT important. This has nothing to do with Camry or Kia. We're talking about how important VSC is in saving lives. Again read carefully before commenting.

i agree with what you said.. they are trying to prove kia k5 is more worth of their money.
Again thats what YOU assumed. All our replies the past few hours were in response to your earlier statement about the non importance of VSC. Thats all. Dont drag the issue about Optima vs Camry here. U didnt even know that i bought an Optima in the first place. Many other cars have VSC as well which includes the Altis, Civic and even the Preve.

Kindly quote the exact statement which indicates this. If not, kindly refrain from telling kiddie stories.

think of it this way. a 'china' iphone might have more features than the original iphone but is it actually better or has better quality than the real one?

i don get it why VSC is so important? if u drive safety and obey the rules on the road, this will minimize all the accident will happen.
This was your original question. Nothing to do with Kia or any other brand.

are u sure about the toyota remove TRC also in the latest generation of camry? I thought VSC is absence only...and Do u think the consumers pay more money for less features? Why dont u think they using new 2.5 Dual VVti engine with ACIS and more airbags than before....So i think they raises a few thousand for upgrading from  2.4 to 2.5v from vvti to dual vvti and fom 5 speed to 6 speed n and from 2 airbags to 4 airbags sound reasonable. ....

Dont tell me that dual vvti is a not a new tech or whatsoever...at least it still a improved feature for which the previous generation model not using it....

this is what the "new" camry is representing to the general car nuts....

Since you asked, yes, Camry got lower safety ratings compared to the Optima in both frontal and rollover impact assessments by the NHTSA. But do keep in mind, the model tested was the US version with VSC and 10 airbags. Again, this is in response to your query only.

Well, I selected my car based on several criteria and one of them was feature set. But it was not the main point, the most important determining factor was what I was comfortable paying per month over a set period of time followed by driving dynamics, family needs (size, comfort) and finally feature set.

The Koreans were out mainly because... it's Korean. I was not able to overcome my personal bias against Hyundai or KIA.

My first choice was actually the new F30 320d but that changed when I learnt my initial down payment had to be at least in the 120k range if I wanted to keep the amount I was willing to pay each month within my comfort zone and within the 5 year period. I could go with 7 years but I absolutely hated the idea of taking a 7 year loan.

So with the Luxury marques out of the way, it came down to either the new Peugeot 508, The Passat and the new Camry.

The Peugeot 508 was eliminated immediately because of reliability and after sales issue. It might not happen but why put myself in that position of having to worry in the first place?

So it became a toss up between the Camry and the Passat and it was a tough struggle, both are good cars in its own right and both had it set of problems... ultimately, I couldn't stand the feeling of buying a car that made me feel like I was being ripped off and went ahead with the Passat.

Not sure if it answers your question though, LOL!

This part is sufficient to answer most Camry supporters out there. Since your choice came down to between the Camry and VW Passat, i truly believe you've made the right choice. The Passat trumps the Camry in terms of design, specs, handling & performance. Yes it may lose out in terms of resale value after 5-7 years but only wannabe's will talk about resale value in the D segment category since everybody knows D segment cars can never enjoy good resale values similar to some B or C segment makes.

But in US, you can see damn a lot of Camry, Altima, Accord, but you hardly can see a Passat!

Me too if I can afford it.

Affordable = price, maintenance and availability of service center.

Then why did you go for the 2.5V Camry since the VW Passat is in the same price range?

Aiya! Then nothing to do with affordability la. Just say "I would have gone for a VW myself but since there was no SC here, i had no choice but to go for a Camry'. Easier right instead of talking about affordability? doh.gif

In his definition of affordability it includes availability of SC.
