Heard that the new Kia Sportage 2.0L (Turbo Diesel) was just launched overseas. Its got 181Hp and 392Nm torque compared to the current 2.0L turbo petrol version with 260Hp, 365Nm torque. But sadly, i still dont think they can introduce either here since its a GDI engine.

Yes thats poor customer service from that branch. But i think rather than cancel your booking and go through the hassle again, just stick to it and wait for your car. Just keep in mind you have 5-7 years of enjoyment waiting ahead of you. So just hang in there. Its already 1st week July now. Not much longer. Just focus your attention on this thread and learn about the car more.

If he withdraws his deposit and goes elsewhere, he starts back at the bottom of the pile. His wait might be alot longer. Many other showrooms will say got ready stock. But how many of them actually tell the truth? Unless they prepared to give you Rm500 discount if the car dont arrive on time, i still think its best to stick to this branch despite its poor service. But make sure to highlight the problem to Kia HQ.

Despite its 163Hp and 198 Nm torque, the Optima is still a bit underpowered for its weight. So ull find it a bit sluggish especially with passengers. 100% city driving will consume fuel a bit but for highway drives, its quite economical thanks to the 6 speed auto.

Generally, ive managed to get about 750km actual mileage on 1 full tank of 73L (mixed driving) which is quite ok i guess.

Guys, I also did a test run between the range and the actual distance travelled on the highway. At 110kmph, distance to empty dropped by 50km but the actual distance travelled was 100km. At 130kmph, DTE dropped by 100km but actual distance travelled was 130km. Its only at around 150kmph, that the DTE was equal to actual distance travelled. After that the DTE drops drastically.

So in short, highway drives up to about 140kmph is considered quite economical.

And yes i tested the theory on the DTE calculation too. Yes the DTE range is based on the previous full tank fuel consumption. I managed to get 770km DTE on my last fill up.

5 August 2012 is good for me. But lets meet in the evening say bout 5pm instead of late night. At least can walk around and see cars. Can't do much in the night. But lets have some makan to cater for our Muslim friends and we'll all buka puasa together. (The real 1 Malaysia)

But more importantly, choose a good location thats easy to find, central for all and also easy for others to notice and see. Somewhere public and busy would be great. I dont think highway rest areas would give the neccessary 'publicity'.

I think we also need to wear name tags with our Lowyat nick names or else anybody can be DJsoo or Cybermaster98.

Good places but in those places, we would be by ourselves. Part of the purpose of the TT is to showcase the number of Optima owners to the general public. So it needs to be somewhere where others can witness the event.

So sorry to hear. How bad is the damage? Got pics? Where did it happen?

I replaced my front wind shield wipers (FOC under warranty) but was given different set from the original. But somehow, same serial number on the packaging. Dunno whats wrong with Kia parts. But they are now checking with Glenmarie.

But i must say, im quite impressed with their after sales warranty. Ive also replaced the front fog lamps and rear shock absorbers in addition to the front wipers. They also did another allignment and balancing service. All FOC under warranty.

Was also told that Kia HQ now advising Optima owners to lower their car tyre pressure to 30-32PSI instead of 35PSI. This is supposedly to suit 'local' road conditions.

Where got 2.4GDI in Malaysia?

Its called a 'dent'. Ull get many dents in the car as years go by. My advice is to leave it as it is. Trying to repair it will require a resprayin of the entire bumper after the work is done. If its a small dent, they can use a rubber hammer and knock it out. BUt for bumpers its not that easy.

Well, if ure making an insurance claim, then go ahead and get it repaired. Its simple enough. But make sure they spray the whole bumper or else ull see the difference.
