QUOTE(zororo @ Apr 18 2012, 10:31 AM) the ppi got improve or not ? Definitely. Impossible for samsung to put WVGA on the s3 if even the nexus already has 720p scree, and at most the screen size will 4.8 inch. So a ppi of more than 300 is 99% sure ready!!!

Unless you have 20/20 vision, it is not going to matter much to most people...800 x 480 on a 4" to 5" handphone already sufficient. 720p already more than enough. Fonts just keeps getting smaller...no point. Look at iPhone 4S ...3.5" what retina display rubbish...so darn small...yuck...

I do agree somehow the high PPI is a marketing gimmick, but once you are on a bigger screen with higher PPI, you will never go back to a smaller screen with a lower PPI. Higher PPI is not only affecting the look of the display, it does also give impact while browsing the net and also during navigation and e-book readings
Even thou HOX and DHD is only 0.4" in different, but the PPI difference is huge. Those day I don't think DHD display is bad, but now whenever I look back at DHD, the text is too big.

Its A LOT of difference my friend I've played enough iphone 4S to know about the retina display...fonts just too small, like HTC Sense (which finally have something to adjust font size in the new ONE series). My SGS2 only 800 x 480 or something. Lookls sharp to me. So blur nor pixellish (unless you zoom in max to photo). What difference?? LOL. But on a bigger size gadget...like IPAD 2...really sucks...1028 x 768...10"?? Now that's blurred.

If I used an higher reso phone for a period of time, then shift back to S2, I would notice the low reso and be pricked by it. It's not a marketing gimmick or useless. Rather, it's up to each individual to decide what he/she wants, based on how sensitive he/she is to such changes (in reso, in this case). I use an S2 myself. I'm cool with the whole "overly contrast colors", but I do agree that the reso is rather lacking

as a sgs2 user, kindda having mix feelings about s3.
if it is uber cool and powerful, it will put apple to shame. but this will make my current s2 like a junk, which is bad.
if its a minor silly update like ip4s, i wont be too sad since my s2 value wont drop so much.
haha. eitherway, i'll be happy ;-p
by the way, the liquid at the s3 teaser, maybe its goin to be water proof.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Apr 18 2012, 03:01 PM) i thought s2 price already dropped? even if its a minor update s2 is still going to drop because s3 still considered new product and there's GNote Gnote is in different categories all together. Heck it is in a categories of its own. But surely price of current phone will always drop further once new phone is introduced to me, it will never become junk as long as you have use for it. Street price would be lower. List price of S2 is now RM1,699.

RM2099 is a good price same as HOX. Still phone specs is crucial and shud be the deciding factor.
