Din't really had the chance to make a post on the current ultrabook lineups, so I guess I'll just paste all of them here laugh.gif

Would you recommended the dell inspiron 15r for rm2448 with 3 years warranty or is the a43sm an overall better laptop? Thanks.

It depends on what you want~
Dell units are covered by much better warranty support; whereas the A43Sm comes with a better GPU and at a slightly cheaper price ~

Hi all,
Need your recommendation
1. Preferred Brand : Dell, Asus, Toshiba
2. Budget : ~RM4000
3. Usage : Surfing, Photo Editing, Gaming (Diablo III, Dota, NFS and etc)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : not more than 14"

currently in my mind is Dell XPS14z & XPS13, but i think XPS13 is not suitable for gaming. as for XPS14z the battery is build in, will that be okay if i use it for long hour?

regards,
arthur

The XPS14z is not exactly very suitable for gaming as well...
It all depends on your usage, if your photo editing is quite intense, then choosing a laptop with an i7 processor would be a better pick, i.e.
14"
Lenovo (not exactly your preferred brand but still can be considered)
Y470, i7-2670QM + Nvidia GT550M (2GB)@RM2799[JBL], W7HP, 4GB, 750GB (5400rpm), Lenovo P350 headset OR 2 years warranty
Y480, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT640M@2999[JBL] *upcoming

If gaming is your top priority, then the AW m14x is pretty much your only choice nod.gif

biggrin.gif hehe... will go LYP to find one

find new purpose for this new laptop, playing AION

I need to have look for it first, hope got a lot of suggestion.

1. Preferred Brand: Anything with no problem (heat, this n that etc.)
2. Budget:cash ready 3.5k might go more if needed
3. Usage: Office Job non programming/Game (AION)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: looking for 1920*1080

5. SSD or not? I dont need much space but i need the speed. my desktop 1tb got a lot of space (why me buying that 1tb  rclxub.gif )
6. Heavy? hope not so heavy. I'm a guy biggrin.gif
7. Heat problem? Some people said they cant type/play with their laptop for a long duration bcoz of heat issues.
8. Battery life? I have read some review that i try to conclude that battery life is shorter if it come from gaming range (correct me if im wrong).
9. Not a desktop replacement biggrin.gif dont want 17" screen size, i thing its bulky to carry all the time, but if u want me to have a look its find.
10. Backlight keyboard biggrin.gif
11. Free DOS + Warranty

Thanks biggrin.gif (sorry if im too picky tongue.gif)

If you have a tight budget, can consider this one as well:
HP Pavilion G4-2026/27tx, i3-2350M + AMD HD7670M@RM1999, 4GB, 640GB(5400rpm), W7HP
The specifications are obtained from HP online store. If the spec is right, then its quite worth it nod.gif

Vostro 3450, i5-2450M + AMD HD6630M@RM2517, W7HB,backlit keyboard colors: silver/ brown/red

I would recommend going for the i5-2450M + Intel HD3000 variant of the Vostro 3450, comes in matte materials, thus more user-friendly when on the go.. comes with 7200rpm HDD as well for faster load speeds~
And best is you still have remaining cash to extend warranty to 3 years (@~RM249 iinm) thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Akuma no Hana @ Apr 13 2012, 11:07 PM)
Hey guys I'm in a dilemma of this Asus A43SA and A43SD series. Budget around early RM2000. Due to the confusion and some are temporary staffs in PC Fair I find some of them might have misunderstand of the item or something. Now I need your help to determine whether if this few notebook exist or not.

Based on the salesman I have this few models available.
A43SD series core i5 2450M GT610 for RM 1999 which is the standard model based on the brochure. There is one shop state that they have a GT630M unit with the same specs for the same price. He claims that they have to clear out the old model which is the GT610 2gb version first therefore they didn't say they did offer the GT630M model unless you ask for it. Does the GT630M model exist and is it the same price coz I find that GT610 2gb may not be too suitable for me. And I don't think it is the A43SM version because it is too expensive to be priced at RM1999.

Another shop (maybe the only one) say they have core i5 A43SA but not sure is 2450 or 2430 with radeon graphic cards for RM2250. Can anyone confirm it is running on 2450 or 2430 because they cannot open it and they don't have demo unit. And also between A43SA and A43SD, which is an older model because I can't seems to find sufficient update on their official website.

Thanks in advance.

Saw Asus A43SM-VX102V in PC Fair (JB) as well.

i5 2450
2GB DDR (+ another 2GB free upgrade)
500GB
GeForce GT630 1GB

@RM1999

Is this a good catch?

i am looking for;

1. Preferred Brand : non Acer/Dell
2. Budget : ~RM2000k
3. Usage : Online (40%) , some gaming like Dota/HoN/MMORPG (20%) , download drama/movie -40% (connect to my TV to play those drama/movie)
4. Preferred laptop/screen siz : 14inch or 15inch

p/s : Personally quite interested with HP DM4-3001tx @RM2499 ... but kinda out of budget and the Radeon 7470 seems to be far behind GT630

So sifu-sifu, are there any better choice than A43SM at my budget?

Hey sifu after a walk at pc fair need your advice  biggrin.gif
Going for Asus brand. A43series is aluminium casing  drool.gif

1)need advice on GT610 vs GT630 vs GT635

2)A43SM vs A43SD - A43SD is cheaper just differ on GPU , Ram and HDD but can choose colour  tongue.gif
if the gpu perfomance does't big differ im think i getting A43SD as it is cheaper and just upgrade the ram.need advice for this.

3)JayChou N45SL got normal series ? i dunlike the Jay design. just fancy the speaker Grill design there  drool.gif

Thanks  notworthy.gif
*
1. GT635M >> GT630M >> GT610M

2. The performance difference is significant, so if you're into gaming, then opting for the GT630M would be the wiser choice nod.gif
RAM is quite cheap nowadays, so not much of a problem there?

3. Nope at the moment, although there was one for the 1st series of the JC laptop- N45Sf, its quite worth it if you manage to find one, comes with GT555m (on par with GT635M) and since its EOL-ed already, it'll be very cheap

2. Yes, the performance difference is quite big. You can refer to the link here to get a rough picture on the performance of each card: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Game...ds.13849.0.html

3. As mentioned, if you can find this:
Asus N45Sf-V2g-VX054v [black], i5-2430M + Nvidia GT555m (2GB)@RM2699[Bang & Olufsen]; USB3.0, Sonic Master subwoofer; EOL-ed
then you'll get the best of both worlds brows.gif Good huntin'

Looking to buy a small notebook or maybe netbook for office and statistics on the go (portable). also play mkv/video files and facebook games (requiring flash)

Preferred Brand : any
2. Budget : best bang for buck at rm1300 and below
3. Usage : ms office (words, excel, ppt etc), statistics, fb flash games (smooth play), hdmi/mkv/video files
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : <14
5. cpu: preferably AMD due to its GPU/APU but if got i3 SB.. that will be better
will be going to KLCC for pc fair this weekend. any recommendation?

tq

note: at home already got i5 SB laptop with GT540M... therefore need a portable one but not too slow...

Well, the Cedar Trail-powered Atom netbooks are quite capable of handling smooth playback (even for 1080p movies) now laugh.gif
Still, since you're looking for more power, then AMD Zacate-powered subnotebooks will still be the better pick:
Asus Eee PC 1215B, E-450 + AMD HD6320M + (1366x768)@RM1299[1.45kg], W7S; colors: Red/Silver/Black

HP
Dm1-4017AU, AMD E-450 + AMD HD6320M@RM1299[Beats], 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7S
Dm1-4018AU, AMD E-450 + AMD HD6320M@RM1399[Beats], 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB

Lenovo Ideapad S205, AMD E-450 + AMD HD6320M@RM1299[1.48kg]

MSI U270DX, AMD E-450 + AMD HD6320M@RM1199, 2 years warranty, FreeDOS
