I would ask on how hard do you go with VMware? Planning to run more than two vm? What bits are they and any server-based? But of course you can always ultilize the max potential of a vm. Next to me, is a desktop running 4 server vm with 4gb to 8gb configured Sadly it isnt mine though

Ultrabooks are aimed to be light and portable, at the expense of performance. Since you are looking for a light weight, then ultrabooks are pretty much the ones you could consider...
