Thank you so much for narrowing it down, bro. I'll search for the reviews later. But in terms of heat management, which would you recommend? I know rendering uses a lot of process and tends to heat up the CPU and GPU. Is Dynaaudio good? I've never heard of the name. tongue.gif

Can't comment much on GT70's heat management, since its very new..

As for dynaudio, Astria have better explanation laugh.gif
QUOTE(astria @ Jan 6 2012, 06:06 PM)
so, here's my own mini review of this mighty beast...

i WILL NOT be reviewing the performance of the hardware, u can find plenty of that in the Internet, so it's pointless for me to do one... i will be focusing on the features of the laptop instead...

also, i bought this laptop in Hong Kong, so some of the configuration may differ...

let's start off with the spec of the laptop:

MSI GT683DX
Intel Core i5-2450M (2.5GHz, 3MB L3 cache, 1C/2C Boost @ 3.1GHz/2.9GHz)
Intel HM67 chipset
Nvidia GeForce GTX 570M (336 unified stream processors, 192-bit GDDR5 1.5GB)
Nanya DDR3 1333MHz 4GB x2
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 130
Western Digital Scorpio Black 750GB
15.6" Full HD 1920x1080 monitor
USB 2.0 x2 + USB 3.0 x2

....

Audio -
this is the area that literally blew me away cool.gif... i am no audiophile, but still have my own set of requirements when looking for earphones or speakers... for a long time i have never been a fan of laptop speakers, for obvious reasons... most laptop speakers produce hollow audio with virtually zero bass or treble... Lenovo Y510 (2.1 speaker setup) and harmon/kardon on Toshiba have proven otherwise, but was not sufficient to convince me... Dynaudio is truly splendid, sound is solid, for the first time i can actually hear bass on laptops and sends the vibration throughout the whole palm rest... granted the sound is still not top notch, but it's way above the average laptop speakers in the market...

this laptop is 7.1 channel ready as well, if u ve such a speaker system at ur disposal...

Oh, but if you can wait, the Asus G75 should be near..

I just install the stuff I need on the SSD first, then the rest is for anything. 160GB is quite a lot of space. And also, got 3 more external HDD to back it up. laugh.gif

Wow, thank you so much for quoting. The way he described it is as if it really sounded like a mini speaker system's quality. And that is splendid for a laptop's sound quality, if you asked me. Something on a laptop that would sound like X-Mini or the Razer Ferox would sound nice. Haha.

That's what I was worried about. If I got this and the G75 blew my head right off this planet. I'd regret the tuuuut out of it. Haha. smile.gif

or if like matte display

1. Preferred Brand : Acer / Asus
2. Budget : Below RM2.5k
3. Usage : A little of everything

Buying my first laptop and currently i have been trying to decide between acer 4752G i5 and V3-471G i5. Anyway, how much is it to upgrade 4752G 2GB ram to 4GB? But after asking around, everyone kept asking me to buy Asus as it is said to be more stable. My friend told me that warranty wise, Asus warranty would take weeks while Acer would normally take a few days. Now i thought of buying Asus A43SD i5. I need someone to put my mind at rest.

A piece of 4GB RAM is around RM70... so a 2GB RAM should be much cheaper laugh.gif
As for warranty claims, it all depends on the severity of the damage, it may take from days to months... but both Asus and Acer are not really that good when it comes to warranty claims..

For your budget, you can get these Asus instead, the graphic card is better:
Asus
A43Sa-VX083v, i5-2430M + AMD HD6730M@RM2499, 750GB (7200rpm)
A43Sm-VX102v, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT630M@RM2099[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB (5400rpm)
A43Sm-VX002v, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT630M (2GB)@RM2399[2.4kg]v, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm)

*Try to look for the 1st model, otherwise, go for the 2nd model and then add in another piece of RAM yourself... go for the 3rd model if you can't get the 1st two tongue.gif

just want to ask all the sifus...
1. what is the capacity of GT630M RAM? as reviewed in several website, GT630M's RAM in A43Sm-VX102v is 1GB while 2GB in A43Sm-VX002v.
2. what the capacity of GT610M RAM in A43SD-VX419V? 1GB @ 2GB?

*my aim now is Asus A43Sm-VX102v, but still blur about its GPU & problem with after sales service.
another option is Lenovo Z470 5932-2181 14" Z-Series Ideapad. ;-)
