Good job MRTCorp.

Means the drilling from maluri to pasar rakyat is done?
*
This TBM started mining from Cochrane. There are another two which are mining in the opposite direction towards Maluri, yet to break through. So Cochrane to Pasar Rakyat completed for both tunnels, in fact the lower shaft TBM has already mined through underneath Pasar Rakyat and broke through Inai, but no ceremony for that one.

Yup, posted some photos of that one on the previous page. So not bad really, they're done with 3 tunnels so far.

KL Sentral - Semantan Portal (NB)
Pasar Rakyat - Cochrane (SB)
Cochrane - Pasar Rakyat (NB)

Where NB = NorthBound and SB = SouthBound.

Other tunnels underway:
Semantan Portal - KL Sentral (SB) = Semantan 2
Inai - Pudu (NB or SB?) = Inai 2
Cochrane - Maluri (SB) = Maluri 2
Cochrane - Maluri (NB) = Maluri 1

From the looks of here, that means the predicted out was on the spot. This is some solid engineering calculations.

Hi I'm very vey late tot his thread, but I was wondering why didn't they go for a subway approach instead? Is it just because it's too expensive?

Too expensive and unnecessary.

Even inside KL city, they went for underground as it is actually more cost effective to do underground in KL city than elevated.

However everytime i drive along the sprint to KL i kind of wish it was, at least up till semantan. The elevated tracks seems jarring with the landscape, especially maarof side. I might have to eat my words a fe years from now but it looks so messy.

Ranting. But seriously urgh.......

Messy as it may be, it is approved by local authority and complies with rules.

Even land acquisition alone costs upwards of RM 1 billion.

No idea about that. After all, financing one line isn't easy.
