MRT website is very informative! Good work from the developer. It got almost everything that u need; project updates, information about tenders, even reports on special events ex: protest on MRT at Bus Stand Klang last year.
Check it out! http://www.mymrt.com.my/ LRT extension and BRT sunway should learn something from here. |

Not just it relieves over-reliance on LRT and monorail, ultimately this line will serve areas where there is no rail at all (i.e Damansara). The beautiful thing about this line is that there might be some extra services which do not serve the whole line. That means frequency can be varied between different parts of the line. Some MRT stations may have 3 tracks. |

QUOTE(Flaming_lion @ Dec 22 2013, 07:50 PM) No, it is like this.Case 1: Singapore North-South Line The whole line is from Jurong East (NS 1) to Marina Bay (NS 27). In Ang Mo Kio station (NS 16), they have 3 tracks, such as this... The extra track, they used it to launch more frequent 'Lunch Time Xpress' during lunch hours from Ang Mo Kio to Marina Bay. |

First tunnel boring machine breakthrough of the project, in KL Sentral station site
Photos by MRT Corp https://www.facebook.com/MRTMalaysia?fref=ts Construction for the Klang Valley MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line marked an important milestone today, as the first of nine Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) named Semantan 1, made a breakthrough at the underground KL Sentral Station worksite. This would be the first breakthrough for the MRT Project. The machine involved is the Earth Pressure Balance TBM, which was launched at the Semantan North Portal on 13 June 2013. The breakthrough follows an excavation of about 1.4km, boring a 6m diameter tunnel for trains that will head north towards Sungai Buloh. The machine will now undergo maintenance works at the KL Sentral Station worksite before being re-launched for tunnelling through to Pasar Seni worksite next year. A total of nine TBMs are going to be used to construct the tunnel for the 9.5km underground alignment of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT Line, with 7 underground stations. They comprise of four Earth Pressure Balance TBMs which will be used for the Kenny Hills geological formation, and five Variable Density TBMs for the Kuala Lumpur Limestone geological formation. The underground works contractor is MMC Gamuda KVMRT (T) Sdn Bhd. Currently, there are seven TBMs which are operational for the MRT Project and are at various stages of tunnelling. They are monitored by personnel who are stationed directly above where the TBMs excavate. The first TBM was launch by YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak at the Cochrane Launch Shaft on 30 May 2013, indicating the start of excavation works. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
