Wow.. if Japan really worth it to buy. As scared its from Thailand or Indonesia. As local CKD think quality will drop a bit.

How was the review on the CX 5. From what i read in previous page. alot owner complaint defects.

The CKD version is coming soon, and might replace the CBU version. Try to book fast if you want the CBU version. Estimated delivery time is now 1-2 months.

Once the CKD version is available, delivery time will be definitely faster.

What do you get any goodies? i.e some discount, smart tag, tinted etc?
And which dealers?

Plan to look further on the CX5.

CKD version is confirmed without Sunroof.

As for freebies & others, my advice is to discuss further with the S.A and they might throw in something. However, this will depend on how genuine they feel you're gonna sign the booking with them.

As for trade in, please pm me the details and I can roughly give you an estimate (not guaranteed to be accurate) on it.

FYI, there's now LIMITED units left for the CBU version as CKD version booking is now opened (Expected delivery end May/June).

I got to know that the CX 5 is not really a CKD but a SKD which means the whole car is assemble in Japan and only the fitment of wheels or sound unit or some small parts. This is basically for tax purposes. It is the same as Passat CKD. True CKD is like Honda, Toyota and possibly Nissan which are able to sell by ton loads.

Business sense speaking, it is not economical of scale to produce a car probably with 2000 - 3000 a year. Just the tooling cost itself is high.

With the major work done in Japan, i think the quality will still be there. I am not a Bermaz employee so i am writing based on the information i received.

if just for local market, ckd may not viable. how about for export? Geographically, it makes sense that Vladivostok plant for europe market, hiroshima plant for japan and us, and malaysia plant ( thumbup.gif ) for asia-pacific market. just my opinion.

It makes sense if if they are looking at Asia Pac, but from what i know Mazda have a bigger operation in Detroit of the East (Thailand) in JV with Ford. Investment for the CX 5 program is RM$20 mil (quoted in paultan.org).

I have booked my CX 5 since last year June at Old Kang Road , was told that I could get my car end of December 2012 , I have sold my old car and loan approved , now I was told the car has been stucked at the port for pricing and manufacture years issues. New year is 1 week away , I am very very upset with the dealer. Anyone facing the same issue ?
