Hey guys with Siyah, I didn't follow last night, but you might wanna hold on to flashing kernel updates.

Apparently something is causing phones to brick, some people can't even go into download mode. Could be the repacked rc6 (which now seems to be removed on his blog), or could be the new 3.1.

Can't be too sure since his thread moves quite fast

Edit : Seems like could be latest rc6 that he removed, as well as moving from rc6 to 3.1. Some people recommend doing it via Odin instead (someone who did via CWM got stuck at samsung screen)
*
Only the RC6 using the korean base. Previous RC6 and new 3.1 should be fine.

Yup. The latest RC6 caused a brick when you try to flash or do any wipe operations in CWM.

Thanks for summing it up guys, so many pages couldn't quite pinpoint it.

I'm on 19th April RC6, so that seems fine (the one prior to his latest one yesterday was giving camera issues, so I reverted).

You guys updating to 3.1? Was thinking maybe I should do this one via mobile odin instead hmm.gif

Yeah you can use mobile odin or cwm manager. These apps just need root and does not go through recovery.

Wanna know: Do you use screen protector on your S2?

S2's display is protected with Gorilla Glass. Isn't that scratch resistant icon_question.gif

Yeah i usually download cwm version cos in case emergency cannot boot up i can go into recovery and flash last good kernel which i keep in /sdcard/. So when in normal case, i wanna change kernel, i extract out zimage from zip file and direct flash with cwm manager.

Ah the smooth previously soft bricking our phone kernel laugh.gif

But yeah, assuming stuff is fixed, would love to go back to voku. But it's new, so thread moves slow, so no idea if it works properly sweat.gif

Yeah it was fixed. Tried it in 1.5 and 1.7. But 1.5 kinda laggy. 1.7 was smooth but freezes my phone. Dunno is it better with 1.8.

Ah cool, can count on you to test kernels and all tongue.gif

Hmm sounds like a fix one thing another thing breaks kinda situation so far.

Remembered you saying thoravukk nothing significantly diff. Tried older NEAKs, nothing too different as well (as opposed to GB NEAK, which had blazing speed).

Still waiting for a kernel with good performance, and hopefully decent battery, in that order tongue.gif
