One of my neighbouring room guest offered to snap photos for me..At the end of the trip, he said he will email few photos to me and I porvided him my email address.. Well, thereafter nothing happen.. I din received any email from him and the best part of it I even lost his name card.. I think he probably lost mine too haha

Reminds me of this couple in Paris who asked me to help them take a shot with the Eiffel Tower in the background... I thought ok lor... then he went to direct his gf/wife to pose... put a remote flash... and then tell me how he want to compose his shot etc doh.gif doh.gif

Anyway, I always prefer to have a good compact with me regardless of whether I use it or not.

There's always bound to be those occassions whereby bringing the main camera along is too inappropriate and camphone doesn't cut it.

No wonder I'm always the target as I travel alone with a huge 60D and a tripod. Everytime sure at least a few times per day. Some even gotta let me teach them the functions on the camera. LOL!

Ok, back to the topic:

1. Your travel itinerary + gear
Milan, Italy... it was a business trip and I was travelling with only Canon PowerShot G10 which I borrowed from others

2. Your travel experience
Milan! I fell in love with the city right away. By the time I was there is during winter (end of November) and it is freezing cold...

3. Nice places for photo shooting
Everywhere in Milan... the streets, the church, the buildings... all are so artistic and so got the "antic feel" which is very great subject for photoshooting

4. Tips and skills for travel photography
There are streets dedicated for pedestrian only, and it is a long one. If I can recall it is "via Dante" and covers from some museum all the way to the shopping district, to the Duomo Church and to the royal palace. It is a long way to walk, but you will be safe walking here.

If you are fond of church, you can visit the Duomo first, there's a map of route which covers all the church in Milan... yes, you can visit all of them by walking (or you can rent a bicycle to save all the hassle). Otherwise, just walk around, and travel by the subway metro is very convenient indeed.

5. Things to be careful or take note
Don't travel too late and beware of pick pockets when the crowd is getting less. Otherwise it will be just fine to go around with your gears.
And trust me... English will not really work here... so there are plenty of times when you need to use whatever expression you have to make them understand what you are talking about. But generally most Italian are friendly enough to spend some time to understand what you mean.

6. Last but not least... share your travel photographs here

in some place or occasion they don't allow DSLR user to come in (or not allow to use DSLR)... so if you got a good camera phone is added advantage...

Actually what is ur guys main point when choosing a DSLR over Compact , or COMPACT over DSLR??

For me to choose DSLR over compact is

- Able to use External Flash (for night , indoor , group shoot)
- Better ISO control (but i believe nowaday compact camera also improve alot in ISO control)
- Faster Focus speed and Brust Speed
- Can swap Lens , from WIDE to TELE

I hv the same idea due to camra phone lousy nte shooting - N8 really sxxx when comes to nite shooting.. So I got myself a NEX for my recent Japan trip. Well, I found out later...changing lens is so difficult and even worst handling a manual focus lens my Minolta 50mm F1.5 haha...Most of the time family getting frustrated waiting for me cam whoring for the best blush.gif sumore carrying so many things - 2 lenses + another manual lens I bought there. Although Nex is lights but so many things to carry and time taken to switch lenses...Sometime, might as well using n8 or canon 300HS haha.. although PQ wise lower than NEX.. but still OK to my eye haha

The colours and contrast that a bigger sensor and lens give can never be compared with a compact as well...

though the main advantage my compact has that it can easily enter my pocket and can go underwater laugh.gif

I never use flash.
I rely on camera's ability to handle high ISO shots.
The main reason:

- Focus Speed.
- Can change settings quickly.
- Zoom is much better than compact's digital zoom.
- Of coz Pic IQ. biggrin.gif

What are your guy's definition of compact?

For me, the camera MUST fit into my jeans. So those G1X, X100, or even XZ1 too bad la laugh.gif
