actually the difference on screen is subtle la. . . unless you have two identical frame of shots taken with the cameras
it's only when you print a large final image that can you can appreciate the improvement the new camera gives you, even then it depends what are you shooting.

but of cos, other than the IQ, there's many new added features for the better experience of the photographers that final images can't tell.

if one just show a 2MP picture I bet no one can tell it's a D800 from a D700. It's doesn't do magic or makes a picture taken with an already amazing D700 suddenly look incomparable.
*
Just interested for the image quality, not the additional features.

Do you have a D800? Side note, haven't seen u posting pix before. Share la some smile.gif

Best place to shoot is the PC Guru girls. Nice lighting there. Only shot I find worth uploading lol:

Inside the banquet hall totally terrible lighting. Took some pictures there but don't intend to upload any after seeing the result.
*
Yeah, you can get nice catch light and nice exposure easily.

From last PC Fair,

the lightning inside is bad lar, but i can get around by using 1/50 or 1/80 shutter f2.8 with auto ISO less than 2000 most of the time

i didnt even use pop up flash or any flash gun for all my shots
*
Check out my previous PIKOM PC Fair pix at KLCC... I didn't use any flash tongue.gif. Don't worry about lighting, just push the ISO up!

KLCC hall's lighting still okay la but MV convention center is the worst imo shakehead.gif

If use D90 with no flash pretty much GG la laugh.gif
*
I think these location best to use flash... just like when I was at BIMS2012, flash yields better results.

jchue73, I'm going to take the full size from my friend to take a look... he posted landscape photo. Lens used is a 16-35 f/4 VR... the images looks 'shaky'... doesn't look sharp.

celciuz never cease to amaze me with his lighting skills. I'm still clueless until now, as to how he gets such great pictures  notworthy.gif

Looks for nice available light if possible, if not create your own lighting.

QUOTE(Sadru @ Apr 14 2012, 01:50 AM)
THE BOKEH!! available light also?
*
Yeap, available light. Taken at the PC Guru area where at the back is the glass where light shines in.

QUOTE(geekster129 @ Apr 14 2012, 05:47 AM)
Midvalley is already in my ban list....however, even though the lighting is sucky, you can still creatively reinvent your light ala Joe McNally, by doing off camera flash...
*
LOL! But not all the time have a VAL aka voice activated lightstand to hold >_<

200mm on a FF isn't much of a zoom to be honest. Its something like people bringing 18-135 on a crop LOL. No big deal la ._.

Nikon is stepping up the DSLR market, the D3200 will takeover D5100 place, the D5200 will takeover D7000 place and the new D7100/7200 will take over as top DX body. The D300s however will come in as entry level FX.
I believe the D300s replacement will be another hot seller as the D800 as many DX shooters are upgrading to FX and the D800 is way out of reach for the normal enthuthiast-some jump over to other brands due to this.
My take is a 16/18mp sensor, inheret all of the good stuff from the D700

btw statement above is just a rumour from somewhere I read...... tongue.gif

Just wan to ask how to take this kind of photo and what kind of setting i need to use? So the result is like the link below. The background light is in hexagon shape and not round. 50mm can do this effect?

http://i1.creativecow.net/u/103814/p-bloom-focus-shot.jpg
*
7 blade prime lens (old ones) usually will have these effect when aperture is stopped down. Example, 50mm f/1.8D.

I'm still putting hope on an upgraded D700... D4 sensor but with a D800 form factor. Oh well, maybe it will come after a year D4 has been introduced just like D700/D3 timeline? Time will tell...

Oh well, Nikon isn't the only one not making pro grade crop sensor lens. Heck even Canon have very limited range of pro grade lens for their crop sensors.

well like mentioned,  DX only loses out on the wide end.
which is where the 12-24 comes in for gold ring.
for wider still, there is the 10-24, and of cos the general purpose 17-55.
imo, those dont really need updating.
unless if nikon decides to stick VR in it or something.

the telephoto side, of cos there is no need for DX specific lenses as the FX ones work perfectly fine and even better since only the center is used.

in short, imo there is no need for a whole range of pro grade DX lenses, only at the wide area, and those are somewhat covered decently.

even for FX, at that same end, currently in production there is only 14-24 and 24-70 right?
not sure if 16-35 is still in production or not...or is it the 14-24 that has been discon?
either way, at that same end its still covered decently.
*
Both 14-24 f/2.8 and 16-35 f/4 are still in production... the one that went out of production is the old 17-35 f/2.8 which was replaced by 14-24.
