in short, grey card should not fill the whole frame.
cos then theres basically no real reference to WB with.
stuff like expodisc is what u need if u want to fill the whole frame with, as it lets in light and blends it all into a big mash of colors so the camera can get a avg reading and set the custom WB automatically.
expodisc is shit expensive tho, RM300+.
thre are cheaper ones out there from JJC, octopus etc...or do what others have done and use a pringles cap.
just that doing it that way the WB ends up on the slightly cooler side, but it gets u somewhere near where u need to be.
if the lighting is very consistent what u do isplace the card on table or any where, so it able to reflect the ambient light, cos then theres basically no real reference to WB with.

then just use camera to snap the grey card
if there is lighting, there will be different white balance to start with

Try it yourself. Put a grey card under the a difficult lighting on a table or on the floor. Press and hold the WB button until PRE comes out. Zoom or walk towards the card till most of it is filled up in the viewfinder. Take a snap.
yeah this has been working for me all time. easy to setup This post has been edited by 168257061: Apr 3 2012, 12:06 PM
