so the 18-55mm kit lens + 50mm 1.8G will be perfect for d5100 starter? XD

basically i will be using the dslr for travel pics, graduation pics (which is very soon- expecting lots of portraits, i mean, 2-3 people shots), besides will the 50mm 1.8g applicable for group pics? around 10 people.

Well, let me chip in my view,

I started off with D5100 with kit lens, kit lens great, but the moment i try 50mm 1.8g, i get hooked with the 1.8 and bokeh, so much so i naively believe that 50mm will be sufficient for everything, which prompt me to sold off my kit lens 18-55.

Then one fine day i go company outing, im being ask by my boss to take group photo because i seems to be the one with DSLR. With only 50mm, i blush so hard and in the end, i use my fren Nikon Coolpix to capture the photo. From there onwards i understand, 50mm by itself, cannot fit to every situation.

I bought 17-55 2.8 soon afterwards.

Then im being ask by my senior to help cover one of the company sponsor sport event, i realize i need a longer lens, so that i can shoot them from far.

Then i bought 105 f2.8 after the event.

Then with anticipation for FX camera, i sold off my 17-55 and bought 16-35mm F4 instead.

Then i complaint my DSLR too heavy for all occasion, feel like wanting something lighter so that i can carry everyday and for street photography, I bought Fuji X100 soon after that.

The Moral of the story is: Photography is a never ending, non satisfy, egolistic hobby, understand what you want, get what you need, and spend what you can.

Well, im still using D5100 today, its a great camera as many mentioned before me. D7000 sensor etc

Nothing much for me to complaint as it gives good picture.

Yup, many things change this 1 year ++, I have improved alot too, but still same camera.

Imo, for new buyer thinking of starting photography, why not consider D3200 instead of one year old D5100 or 2 years old D7000?

the shop seller told me it must be taken care to avoid fungus which I think is SCARY. lol. what is the proper way of taking good care of it?

don't go out to weird places or at weird timing and i guess it should be alright.. there are a lot of dslr out there.. just be more aware of your surroundings.. last time when i used to take night landscape photos, often people on motorbikes stop and ask questions.. but there are people around, so there isn't much issues..

haha.. last time got la.. nowadays, if wanna ajak people out abit susah.. so i just go out alone is much faster and convenient.. kekeke
i got use the auto iso, i edi set maximum ISO is 6400, and minimum SS is 1/30s (for the kit lens since i have VR).. but when i use bounce flash with the nissin, it chose 1/20s and iso 500.. @_@ there's still room to bump the ISO.. why the camera dowan to up the ISO but decrease my shutter speed instead is a mystery to me..

Lol the shop people tells me to keep out from rain, if kena must wipe asap to prevent fungus. Then if keep hot and cold example open and close air con will fasten development of fungus too. It makes me scared lol. And say the service to clean the fungus would be very expensive. Haha

This is really a new born baby haha. A lot possibility will happen when carrying such baby around lol. This baby worth two iPhone lol.
