Guys,I just bought Nikkor 35mm f1.8 and Nikkor 55-300mm F4.5-5.6 lens for my Nikon D5100.

after reach home,I try the lens and the Nikkor 55-300mm zoom ring will produce some weird sound.is it normal?because my kit lens doesn't produce any sound as well.

Nikkor 35mm not able to focus correctly. I use single point and select the item in front of me.but the words on the object still blurry. Is it correct?

Both lens are made in CHINA

my 55-300 also got a very soft screw sound when turning, not audible when i look through view finder and in noisy environment

the minimum focus distance is around 30-40cm for 35mm and the depth of field will be very small at f1.8, unless you focus accurately else it will be blur

and also the camera will not focus properly if the contrast is the same around the AF points

so if you focus on the white words there are chances that it wont focus

Hey buddy! Congratulations on your haul! biggrin.gif
Take as much photos with em and gain more experience!
I can't really comment on the 55-300 because I don't own 1 sad.gif
About the 35mm.. There are a few possibilities thou..

1) Did you use the single point on the 'words' of the item or just the item? This would make alot of difference because at f1.8 the DOF is really thin.
2) What was your shutter speed when you took the shot? If it was below 40 try to make it at least 40 or above would be even better!
3) Like admunser pointed out on the minimum focusing distance!

Cheers! Enjoy the pathway of photography!

So quiet from everyone! It's because Some went SuperGT and most went to AFA biggrin.gif

I went for AFA for the 2nd day thou(Today)! Not as crowded as what my friends mentioned.. Some even said Canon had priority in placement.. Thank God I was quite front of the stage and didn't get halau biggrin.gif
