finding F9 tuition..any recommendation for f9 lecturer for jan intake this year?

If sunway Ms. Geetha is pretty good. Ms. Joyce is good too but a little more strict during class. I feel both of them are very dedicated to teaching.

What are the Scholarships available (local and international) for a student who has just completed Form 5 and is awaiting his results? He is interested in ACCA and is a brilliant student who scored A+ in all subjects in his SPM trial exams.

If I'm not wrong, last time Sunway Uni offers a scholarship for CAT course for straight A student and discount if you have certain numbers of As (7 As if I'm not wrong). You might wanna check it out.

How about F8? My gf going to take F8 & F9 this semester, F9 she choose to study at Kasturi but F8 she has no idea yet.
*
Regarding F8, if your gf can manage it I would suggest to self study since it's mostly memory work. Many people will tell you it's best to "understand and apply" than to "memorize" but I beg to differ yawn.gif

Also if she wants to go for lectures I would say I had a bad experience for F8 in Sunway.

Nick - you did T8, so you can cope with F8 easier, this might not be the case for those that did not do T8.

This would not be so for those that are studying audit for the 1st time, the ideas might be harder to grasp.  So self-study is possible if you did T8, have a strong command of English and discipline.

It is recommended to go for class if this is the first time doing Audit as a technical paper.

Geetha - relaxed coverage of all areas + heavy question review during class
Joyce - strict coverage + motivational +  question review during class

Both have their strong points. Depends on your attitude - need to be pushed and pulled to study.
*
Well, again, I beg to differ. Yes, I have been for T8 but I can say I did not pick up much if anything at all from the lecturer. Maybe it's my own problem, that I won't deny. I did not have any T8 base for F8.

I have also been for F8 lectures, but I failed. After that I started from scratch by self-studying audit with my own techniques that I am more comfortable with. Had I known I would have saved the (rather expensive) lecture fees for F8. I'm just speaking from my personal experience.

Did we really need memorize all IAS for F7?

What did u mean by bad experience?

The lecturer at that time was quite lazy. And her attitude also like "tidak apa" only.

What do you mean by relaxed coverage? Means she does not cover all in details?

Btw, i can't find joyce name in sunway lecturer list for f9..

anyway thanks for giving opinions  thumbup.gif
*
She does cover. I think what he meant by "relaxed" is in comparison with Ms. Joyce's stricter attitude. Ms. Geetha is not as strict. They're both very good lecturers. I have been under both before.

Not sure. You have to go to Sunway to enquire. Though, you will find Sunway charges a premium over other institutes.

Anyone facing problem when made payment at MYACCA website through credit card?

I have made 2 attempt, the system still show me the same message "authorization failed" at the last page of payment (even I have goes through the card validity check page). Because of this, the bank have charge me the fee made to ACCA but ACCA said didn't received the fee payment at all.

If I keep continue trying by using credit card for payment, I will be charging big sum by bank for nothing.

Anything can do on this?
super headache, really don't know how to handle this.. recent change on payment mode by ACCA, bank draft don't not acceptable or not, credit card payment again keep show "authorization failed" with charge to my account.. what i can do on this?
*
Contact the bank. The bank will refund those invalid payments..

hey guys, i got a question, after graduating from account degree( exempted 9 papers ) , I still need 5 papers to get my ACCA.

is it better to spend 1 full year studying and pass the 5 papers, or enter the working force and work and study?

i heard my friend told me that, when working, is difficult to study it, and its easier if you pass everything and only start working
*
It is difficult to work and study, but not impossible. It depends on yourself.

Hi, my F5 lecturer recommended us to buy a book titled Cost & Management Accounting by Colin Drury.

He added that we should buy the Advanced version. However, I do not know which is the Advanced version.

Do you have any idea? Showing me the picture of it is highly appreciated! =)

Thanks!!!
*
Any ideas if your lecturer is really going to use them in class? I have had many experiences where lectures asked my class to purchase additional books which costs hundreds but ended up only doing 1 or 2 questions from it.

I believe the those that are entering the ACCA using Diploma, Degree and CAT from June 2013 would be affected since the requirement will be enforced as of Aug 2013 - mandatory, it is optional now.

Trust me - this is a huge mess  icon_question.gif that will not only affect ACCA, it affects all the others too - Diploma crossing to Degree, Certificate crossing to Diploma. rclxub.gif

In that case, you cannot complain since this is a blanket rule.  My interpretation of the ruling that was made is better explained using an example.

Example:
If your Diploma has 50 credit including the MQA paper to complete and if you are exempted from Bahasa Malaysia due to A1 in SPM.  You have just done 47 credit of classes and skipped 3 credit due to exemption of BM.

The new ruling is that you must complete 50, meaning - either you do BM or do something else in lieu to cover the 3 credits.

This is due to credit exemption, you must replace the exempted credit.  You do not need to replace if it is credit transfer, like Diploma transfers credit to Degree.

Source wise - wait for the colleges to announce the news, you will hear it soon enough.
*
I'm a little confused. Does it mean those who already entered ACCA with CAT before this implementation (June 2013) would be unaffected or would we be made to take additional papers as well? Would you please clarify this for me?

Hello guys, hope it's not off topic asking something about CAT. Here goes, does CAT have any recognition in jobs? Also is it necessary for it to proceed to ACCA?

Let's say I stop my studies at CAT level, is it enough to ask for a job?

Thanks in advance
*
Yea, CAT is a diploma in the end. Can get job using it.

Hai!!
If I were to complete my degree and obtain the 9 exemptions for ACCA, is it possible for me to pass the remaining 5 papers in one sitting?

Can it be completed within one year? What is the shortest period normally?
*
Need 2 sittings which is 1 year. But it will be a little different from degree exams.

What's the best combination in one sitting, if I were to take  3 + 2 papers?

If you want fast go 3+2. If you don't mind taking a little more time do 2+2+1, but don't do 4+1.

Yes, called before. It is foc. The number is 1800-88-5051.
Toll free number.
It is the least they can do after taking away the monthly
Student news letter and also the official graduation ceremony.  Funny thing is that with all the cost saving initiatives, the subscription fees and exam fees is still going up annually.
*
That is what I always say. They have been cutting down their costs (SA mag, shipping, security and other fees for exam papers) but the fees goes up without fail.

Please advise on which lecturer is good at teaching P5. my friend recommend Chan Tze Kang at Elitejaya
*
I'd recommend Mr Spencer at Kasturi KL. This is based on the brief 1 hour+ I was with him during the revision last sem. He focuses on theory a lot which is very good for P5 IMO. The lecturer before him (can't remember his name, I think Andrew Pang?) only focuses on calculations which I think is not very helpful/useful for P5. BTW I self-studied this paper last sem (+ went to Andrew Pang's revision) and passed.

To pass P7 you also need P2 now.  If you had been studying it for so long, it means that you may be going in with only P2 knowledge from past papers which is inadequate. You should either try to update your P2 and then do P7 or try another optional.

Getting a 2nd lower is not that bad, since I know someone who got into EY with a 2nd lower with the basic any degree holder gets. So the view that a 2nd lower is not recognised is a faulty. There are many cases where 2nd lower is accepted.  So don't waste time doing another degree - there is no gurantee that it would turn out better.

*
Had I been told this 2 semesters ago, I would have opted for OBU. Been hearing from seniors that 2nd lower is pretty much useless. sweat.gif

Hi, i need some help in which papers to take. May i know which combination is good :

1) P2 n P7

2) P2 n P6

can give advice which combination is more heavy?

Thanks in advance for all advice  notworthy.gif

In my experience P6 and P2 is the easiest among the three, but not recommended to take them in one sitting because of the syllabus. If you must take 2 I'd suggest P2 and P7 since P2 will compliment your P7.
