Yup, thats how I did it. And it says the disk drive is full when I try to transfer the files in the phone. Two drives pop up when I connect my phone to my PC. One drive is 1.70GB and the other one can't be accessed. When I checked the properties of the first drive (right click-->Properties) it shows that the entire 1.70GB has been used. But when I accessed the drive and checked the total file size by selecting all the folders, its actually less than 1GB.
*
is your usb debugging ticked? Check under settings-> applications-> development->tick USB debugging
Then connect your usb cable. You'll get to see USB is connected in the pull down screen(whatever it's called). Press the notification and press connect usb storage. Then you can access both disks.

Tried that and I'm still getting the same thing. Below is a screen shot.
When I plug in the USB I do get a message saying "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard. Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software?". I cancelled that part, dont think that could be the problem.
I have no problems transferring files from and to my phone using Kies though. But yeah its kinda slow because its through wifi.

Your 32GB class 6 is sandisk mobile ultra? That card seems to perform better than normal class 10 card iinm, i don't own one anyway...

Guys, any easier way to root? Thanks!
*
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317394

Follow the first method. Rooting via Recovery method. This is the easiet. Nothing else is easier. Download the file from your phone(make your life easier, no need PC in this case), place it in the root directory. Means in the outside most folder when you open 'My Files'. Then you can follow the guide. It just take you around 2 mins for whole process. Don't even need luck. Won't actually go wrong unless you can't read simple english laugh.gif laugh.gif

Hey everyone, isit normal that the battery drains 5% when the phone is idle for around 8hrs? :/ Cuz i remember usually it only drains 1-2% when I sleep
*
Now I don't care that much. I usually leave wifi on overnight and it still drains 5~6% over 8 hours. No complain on battery life. Btw, as you use it for some time, you won't even care about that. It makes not much of difference, believe me. LOL

Well it's depend on your telco. If you have  Digi line like mine, then welcome to club. Digi line sometime so fcuked up that the signal drop lower or to zero. When that happened, your phone will in searching mode and it will drain the battery faster. I HATE DiGi. And now they coming up with LTE, they messed everything else up.
*
QUOTE(ahchun92 @ Apr 11 2012, 11:24 AM)
ok i'm using digi :| guess I shall just off my phone when I sleep
*
I'm using digi. Signed the package from them. I got not much of complain in my house here. Always full bar. I only leave wifi on overnight, not data. But in my campus really bad signal but i think my usage is still acceptable. Currently super busy on assignment and test. Like ytd, went to school for 6 hours, data on but battery only drop till 85%. Miracle? Because I don't even have time to touch the phone until the time I'm going back home. shakehead.gif Normal usage for whole day from 8-6 i still got around 50% left with constant checking on fb throughout the day. If normal not busy day with a lot of break in between classes, then I need charger with me. Gaming sucks battery.

QUOTE(masterelr @ Apr 11 2012, 11:46 AM)
I'm using Digi and my battery dies in less than 2 days.
Anyway... I have some private videos and pics that I dont want others to see when they play around with my phone. Any apps that can set a password to a folder/file or something?
*
Erm... If you just don't want them to browse through gallery, just make a file using notepad, name it .nomedia (WITHOUT THE .TXT extension). You don't need to type anything in the text file, just rename it. Then paste the .nomedia file inside the folder you want to hide. With this, you can only access it through 'My Files' but not through gallery. Android gallery will not search for any media files in that folder. And... to prevent your friend to see them through 'My Files', just make few folders within folder with weird weird insuspicious name. Then you should be good to go.

BTW,... *private videos/pics is Prawn???* whistling.gif Or vid/pic of your girlfriend? biggrin.gif

I want to knowe too....especially the screen quality. GW is TFT rite? 1V is super LCD i think?
*
I'm pretty sure GW is SLCD, not just TFT. I compared side by side with my friend's HTC Desire S which is said in spec sheet comes with SLCD. Seriously, no difference at all. Possibly the same thing since Samsung is the one making SLCD (joint venture with Sony but I think sony dropped the business). I will not care much about the screen on GW vs One V (SLCD vs SLCD2 hmm...). What I care more is actually the camera, OS, built quality and Beats Audio. One V's camera macam very geng due to HTC new Image Chip... OS, 4.0... Built, Metal unibody... Beats Audio(erm... not much of a fans but should be nice to have)

Yeah, One-V seems to win in all aspect..except lack of front camera (GW got?) and a miserable 1GB user internal storage. GW got more rite? 1.7GB for the user. The problem with HTC phones...damn kedekut with the internal storage. They should dump the stupid beats audio and put more internal storage. Only One-X got a generous internal storage...even previous gen phones like Sensation and XE also miserable 1GB ..unlike SGS2 got 2+11GB for the user.
*
GW got 1.4GHz instead of 1GHz of One V. Erm... But HTC don't have 3 layer memory like Samsung which makes their life easier to put all the maps/huge game data file in external memory card. Not to say we can't do that in SGW but need some tweaking. Only SYGIC support map on external sd without extra settings. SGW got 1.07GB internal memory to install games/apps and 1.7GB usb storage for game data/user media files but this system is making problem for some games/gps software where they can only detect the USB Storage as External SD card, not the real Ext SD card. This makes 1.7GB very little too...

i got one question to all sifus.. give me one good reason why i should pick this phone over huawei honor.. thx in advance
*
Because... It's Samsung! If you find the Honor is fine, and positive reviews from users, just get it. If based on on-paper spec, they're pretty close with honor having larger screen and battery and ICS and slimmer. Your choice laugh.gif

QUOTE(VHunter @ Apr 11 2012, 10:35 PM)
Warghh having a hard time deciding between Galaxy W and One V now. Somehow from what I can tell, the only "key features" that I like about One V is just the ICS (that one also no big deal) and the metal build. Other than that... Now leaning towards Galaxy W. What you all think? I mean if I were to get One V, it is just pushing my budget by extra 100, worth it? Or should I use the 100 and get a memory card instead?
*
Erm... ICS is quite a big deal. One V camera should be a lot faster than Galaxy W. I'm not sure about that. Why don't you try them out, both of them. I think HTC does a better job in their stock rom compared to Samsung. Just my opinion though. They may have overcooked the UI but their UI isn't sluggish. I mean Stock ROM. The built is another aspect. Metal unibody vs plastic. Your choice. Btw, I can't seem to find info on One V screen. I mean the glass on top of it. Not sure whether it's gorilla or dragontrail or whatever. Phone arena says it's not as cold as 'glass' which gave me few question marks in my head. One V is also slimmer. Take that into account too.

*
The curve is no big deal? In fact it should provide a better grip IMO. Sense... Quite a nice UI. not sure about the RAM part for 512MB models since i only played it on 768MB HTC Desire S, no lag at all. SGW still will lag from time to time doh.gif

I only don't like the extended part on the bottom. It can shape like that but the softkey should be on the curved part IMO and shorten it a bit. blush.gif

i noticed sometimes when playing games also will lag abit.
*
Is your firmware newest? Newest should be Android Version: 2.3.6 Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DXLC1. This build has better gaming performance, won't struggle that much compared to previous builds. Check and see whether your phone is up to date. On older 2.3.6 build, even playing where's my water/cut the rope requires me to to clear ram and launch the app directly(open the game, hold home button to get to clear memory option then in my case, even launcher will be killed because I used Supercharger V6 script which changes the behaviour of ram manager of W. And then, hold home button and directly choose the game from previously launched app list.) But now no more such problem when playing simpler game like where's my water and cut the rope. Yesterday I tried Gun Bros still will lag without clearing memory but I rarely play that so I don't care much laugh.gif

Thanks for the head up, i never realized the apps will have problem detecting the real SD card with the 3 layers archictecture coz using SGS2 now...enuff internal storage. I guess SGW is out of my list.

Added on April 12, 2012, 8:53 am
I think read somewhere...no gorilla glass on One-V...that's why not 'COLD' enuff....needs to add ICE CREAM Sandwich on it...haha.
*
Erm... Actually if you compare to HTC, it's not much of a problem. We still got 1.7gb to spend... Just choose which app you wanna put in internal and which in external wisely. For me, I keep only X5 maps in internal, sygic maps in external and selected game in external. You got s2 you also won't use W to play gameloft games right? Only games from GLU and gameloft actually eat a lot of memory. Sometimes 500~600MB... For the time being, I installed 130++apps, still got plenty space for me to throw more apps into it.

Hi All, I've use my Samsung Galaxy W for 3 months ++ Already encounter auto power off for few times. Last week I've even restore back to default factory setup, fresh and clean. As of now, I only install WhatsApp. No more other software. This morning it auto power off again. Anybody encounter this problem before??? Any solution???
*
Check whether it's newest firmware. Check in about phone whether it's GINGERBREAD.DXLC1 (Build number). If it's not, update the firmware should fix the problem. The DXLC build is really quite stable.

Restart your PC and update again. Not sure why but during the first update using Kies, it tends to reinstall Galaxy W as New Device and says that requires a restart and then, our galaxy W got disconnected by windows. That's why the process stuck and came out with this warning the next time you open kies. Just restart your phone then you should be able to update it. Happened to few users here.

I guess your phone is rooted. I had the same prob. Update through kies twice,it should work (Twice because normally the first time will fail. After first time fail, reboot phone and pc then do second time. It should update your phone)

Why don't I ask you first. Is it necessary for you to patch? I just left it untouched. I keep all media files in external micro SD, frequently used documents in internal usb storage, GPS x5 map in internal storage. Is till got plenty space after I installed 120++apps. Of course this is just me. But I'm giving an option not to touch it if you don't even need to touch it. You have to fiddle with rooting and those script script thing
