My sister just called, and says the handbrake light is blinking ...

I think i experienced this once when i got the car ... just once ... i remembered i read in manual its the ABS or EBD ... can anyone confirm from the manual? I dont have the manual with me now ...

blinking? no. but both handbrake and ABS came out, i did. ask her to send for a check bro. don't play around with brake system

My gf's viva has this buzzing sound.... one of her friends told her that it's her "alternator" problem... Any idea of it? And if that's the case, how much will it cost to fix or replace it?

i'm not sure what is the buzzing sound to be honest.

but, i can tell you how to check the 'alternator'.

you start the engine, then you disconnect the battery. if the engine is still running while the battery is disconnected, the alternator is just fine. so, you might want to check on something else.

however, if the engine stalled once the battery is disconnected, yes, the alternator is kaput already.

hope that helps.

alternator will cost you around 300-400 perhaps? it could be more as i'm not sure. might want to call the spare part shop. if the car is no more under warranty, get the alternator from outside spare part shop and let your mechanic install it.

hav a reliable mechanic to hav it checked but dont tell him its alternator 1st..
how old is the viva?
i suspect it could be belting sound..

probably can be more specific bro.

if its squeaking noise could be v-belt issue. very minor only.
when u are at the mechanic, get him to check the belt if there is any misalignment or belt run off/out of the pulley.

had this problem once where the belt run off the pulley by 1 'gigi'.

Ok guys need help here.

While the ignition is off I accidentally turned my steering wheel, causing it to lock. Now I can't even turn my key to start the engine.

How do I unlock it?

you have to turn the steering wheel a little bit and not let it get 'stuck' if you know what i mean. sort of holding the steering wheel off the 'lock' point and then turn the key.

i've got experience washing the engine bay of my grandfather's wira at my hometown in kelantan. 3-4 times a year , the carwash was good coz the engine is fine until now

from the look of it, you can solve it with just polish. buy them at hardwre store and spend an hour or two polishing the driver's door or half day for the whole car and it will be better.

Also.. more questions.

Prior to driving my new Viva I had been driving a relatively old Wira for 3 years.

So here's my experience driving Viva as compared to driving a Wira:
1. The car feels so damn high.
2. The rides feel "stiff" or "hard", as in I can feel every single tiny bump or uneven surface on the road. I'm very used to the smooth rides in my old Wira.
3. Taking corner feels like my car can topple anytime.

As I'm a complete noob when it comes to car matters, can anyone tell me the reasons to my points above? What I can do to the car to make the experience better?

the best is.. golf gti also want to cucuk my viva.. so its actually lots of brainless drivers & 1st time drive turbo-charged cars driver around..

if u r from pj, seapark.. pls take note of a golf no.plate 666.. in front mamak also want to boost.. observed many times already. hopefully boost into longkang 1 day..

viva is just a small town car, zippy car for u to move around town.. where else wira is more of a family sedan..

although wira is considered an aging car, its still a good car compared to its rivals!!

the only way u can "slightly" improve the handling is to add in:
- front strut bars
- rear anti-roll bar
tht's enough, more than the above its too much already.

What is the tire size you're looking for?

For a new pair of 14" tires, they won't exceed RM300 for both, you can get RM300 including installation and balancing even at some shop.

hi, for rm300++ u can get better performance tyres. no need michelin. am using ku31.. rm170+ each.

New car and I ran over a pothole and busted a tyre Went to a shop and changed it. RM 160 including balancing. Did I get ripped off? Granted it was close to 11pm when the shop was closing.

Do you think my suspension system is damaged? Going to do alignment tomorrow. What should I know not to get ripped off?

urghh i tot i am the only one, me also feel the same way until sakit hati since it always stiff and hard, so go and find cheap adj absorber since already get use to the stiff suspension ......so now really slow when come to lubang2 and enjoy when drive in niceeeeeeee no lubang road....

hi.. me also VIVA owner in JB but after using the car for 4 years, my engine mounting start to give problem and need replacement. sent to perodua SC to check and they say total cost is about RM1k. my friend toldme can get non-ori parts for around RM400, including labour. what u guys think? anyone ever encounter this problem??

i won't wanna try non ori mounting cuz lobourship is expensive~

get 15" rims width not more than 6.5JJ (ideal would be 5.5JJ or 6JJ) offset not more than +45 or lesser than +35.

tyre size 165/50/15

sport spring GAB or equivalent will give u 1-2 finger front, 3 finger rear.

Total cost depends on your rims. Cheap rims cost less than 1k, tyres will cost around 600-700 for 4 pieces. sport spring around 200++ bucks.

less than 2k can get u the setup u want..

if budget really low, look for 2nd hand stuff. shld cost around 1k only all in

Oooh, what's the correlation between rim size and suspension height to handling? Smaller rim size and higher suspension means better handling?

to me i think 14s is already good enough. if u still want to improve the handling + looks, just get it lowered a bit via sports suspension...

14" is nice enough.. if you want you can push it 15" but seriously, you ride will be hard as rock lol.

However, I thought ez version no ABS? how come I can see the ABS logo on my dashboard?

I think the logo is just there serving no purpose. Mine doesn't have airbags nor ABS, but I have both logos on my dashboard.

so most likely your EZ do not have that..

as for the ABS logo, i think all viva share the same common meter panel..
