I swiped my credit card to purchase things, should be a Retail transaction right?

Then statement came, bank treated it as a Cash Advance transaction, charged me Cash Advance Charges and Finance Charges.

How to prove that it is a Retail transaction? Can tell whether it's Retail or Cash Advance from the transaction slip?

Show your receipts, the one from the machine and the purchase receipt.

The case is like this, I bought a room + buffet + cash chips package at Genting. All this while it's treated as Retail. Then all of a sudden Genting displays a notice saying that from 27th March 2012 onwards purchase of that package using credit card would be treated as Cash Advance.

I was there on 26th March 2012 and asked Genting staff whether purchases on that day still treated as Retail, and they said yes. Otherwise I would not have bought it using my card.

Statement came, Transaction Date: 26th but Posting Date: 29th. And so I was charged RM150 Cash Advance Charges and Finance Charges.

This is not fair.

Yap, all the while this program treated as Retail transaction, it has been changed? few months ago I swipe using MBB 2 Amex, i get 5% cash rebate and 5x points
