Yeah seriously, the pricing for Corsair is ridiculous, SP2500 was like around RM5xx in the US, then shoot up to nearly RM700 in Malaysia doh.gif, but PSU price is fine tho.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know that. Was considering Corsair Mech Keyboard b4 I bought ducky. Didn't bought it cause price was over my budget. Hopefully ducky can serve me well and last me long enough for the price I invested in eh. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm agree with you... it's like when Ferrari build a supercar, everything's great, then decide to fit kancil's steering wheel on it.

Why so serius previously?

There is an old MX black Plum with almost that layout if you look hard enough in TB.
Pretty cheap too.
*
I know that one. But the layout really can't make it... sweat.gif Apart from the bigass enter, it also lack of some keys and the keys mapping is odd enough...
The closest thing should be TT Meka or IRock 6230 instead, but I don't like the bigasss...

Saw it, but still far overpriced(and we hate a semi mechanical keyboard...) compared to how cheap it is in US. SRP around RM300 and mostly it have offer which sell at RM240+(80USD)...
Heard that it isn't retailers fault but the distributor charged such a high price...

4th, people rather add up another RM100+ to get more bling bling on the keyboard(k90).

I still waiting for the day which any heavy modder decided to [s]soft[/]hardmod those rubber dome into mechanical switch... It will be a hard job for sure as the opening for rubber dome is smaller than Cherry switch(which mean you need to drill up the size of the holes).

The Key Tronic keyboard was the original Topre switch patent owner right?
is there still any Key Tronic Topre Switch keyboard in the market or even 2nd hand market? I found some Key Tronic in E-bay, older models, made for Dell or something,
they didn't state out the keyswitch type in the specifications....... are those worth a try?

Early Topre is probably only rubber dome, don't have the spring inside. Don't think such things worth a try.

You can't solder on plastic.
Plus, the controller for the rubber domes are different.
You'd need another set of keycaps for that, or you can do the stem mod.

They are okay if you can get it for cheaps from Taobao/ebay. Just note the model numbers. There was a long discussion going on at GH about it.
I've tried one, and it was not that close.

My plan is that removing the default RD membrane , plastic frame?(don't know what it call, the mounting of keys onto rubber dome's holes) and all it's other components.
The rubber dome's holes seem to be smaller than Cherry's, so we need to drill it bigger to mount the Cherry switch. Of course we need a whole new circuit and controller for it. Which make me think that Corsair had really make US hard enough by going RD. rolleyes.gif

I guess the main challenge is to make the RD holes bigger...

BTW, some random google search lead me to a internal review of it, nice.

OWAI, just realise that Corsair board is using 5pins Cherry switch instead of 3pins? Thats a rare one for a plate-mounted keyboard. notworthy.gif

The one normally found on plate-mounted boards is called 3 pins(cause 2 steel pins for circuit connecting and the center black plastic "pin" to mount on the PCB, IOW, there is 3 holes on PCB for each switch).

The one on PCB mounted is called 5pins, which is very much same as the counterpart just now, except with extra 2 plastic pins to mount/grip onto the PCB.

because G19 has higher profit margin lol...

but.. imagine - cherry mx + G keys + multimedia keys + USB hub + audio jacks + LCD screen... ah not to forget that insane price tag.

The main usage of Topre springs are for switch actuation.
Feeling of Topre comes from the domes. Since KT and Topre domes might be quite similar, there was an argument that they are cheap Realforce.

They are using a separate membrane but same controller.
What's the point in using a whole new controller? Might as well just buy a new keyboard.
5 pins and 3 pins for plate mounted boards feels no different to me.
