hi, i wish to own a mechanical keyboard. Is razer black widow recommanded? If so, which one should go for, the ultimate edition or normal edition?  hmm.gif
*
Not really recommended but it is among the cheapest option available in Malaysia, so no choice if you had no better budget or only want to test water first(though it may still not deliver what a real mechanical kb will fell, especially the solidness).

If you ever want to get it, normal edition to save yourself some problems(in case anything break down) and moneys. If you plan to resell it in future, Ultimate may had a better resale value(just based on my assumption that lots ppl out there like BL over no BL).

i am also finding an mkb, and they say brown switch is good for ppl in the middle of gaming and typing, true?

is filco a good brand of mkb ? or ducky is better? afaik black widow uses blue switch and i dun quite like the noise, but is comfortable to push
*
Try yourself then only you can find the answer.

Both Filco and Ducky are good. Just that some people claimed that Filco to be better(or even best). Conclusion is go and find it out by yourself.

Since you are that far away, I wonder do you find warranty a issue(i mean do you still need it)? If not, you can try out those China brands from taobao, some of them are pretty impressive and a lot cheaper than mainstream brands.

you can refer on GH on the idea of what exactly to be shipped around. A broken piece of pcb with different switches mounted on it.

Is there someone here that can read mandarin and is willing to buy for me from Taobao this Realforce 103UB? I will pay whatever reasonable commission you want. Thank you.

http://search.taobao.com/search?q=topre+re...realforce+103ub
*
Realforce is seriously expensive and it is risky to ship such expensive stuff all the way to here.
Also, incase any mechanical failure(like switches), unlike Cherry switch, it isn't easy to find parts and fix it by yourself.

Ask Cyclone, he is the Malaysian distro.
If there are any issues, it will be much easier.

Switch Try Numpad is Ready !!!!

Anyone who wants to try them switches before buying anything, PM me and I'll add you to the list
To test is free, but you will need to pay shipping to the next person

This numpad will allow you test out the keyfeel of the Cherry MX switches.
As to the noise part, the numpad has a rather hollow construction, and the noise has been amplified and makes a louder noise on the Clacking of the keys than other keyboards.

Hmm, is the board still functional? hmm.gif
Why don't just shipping cutted 4 keys PCB like what being done in GH?
BTW, nice one there. Plate-mounted, mean nobody(unless he is despo...) will disassemble the switch unnecessarily

Before and After!

Now  the yellow Filco key caps officially on sale
It is 87 + 4 Lavender WASD keys  total 91 keys +original Filco key puller

Opening price is RM120

unsure.gif ..... is it too high?
Welcome anyone counter offer.
But I will decide to sell it or not at last.
*
Hmm, is it just me or the arrow keys on your board doesn't seem to have offset problem? Filco fixed them? hmm.gif

BTW, RM120 should be fine as it included the key puller. Though lower price(like RM100) will make it more popular/suitable(cause the keys lack numpad, demand may be lower).

I agree with the Filco part, but I never tried a ducky, for the Filco I m typing on, the blue switch clicky felt great,
and as I changing the key caps, moving around holding in hand the weight the textures, every thing felt good in every category.

Added on February 26, 2012, 1:29 pm
Thanks for the RM100 suggestion. I will consider it when I want to get another keyboard rolleyes.gif
but for now, the price I will set at RM120, postage not included.

BTW, What do you mean by the arrow keys offset problem?
*
Certain batches of Filco TKL(and also CM Storm) are known to being plagued by arrow keys offset problem. Mean the keys are misaligned and off-center than what it should be. It should not affect the use of the keyboard but may affect you to insert a key-puller. Also, those perfectionists will sure mind about it, LOL.

Then, can take a macro shot at the arrow keys part? Thx. icon_rolleyes.gif

PS/2 type.
have a blue cube ready for all purposes. But a RM10 Ps2->USB converter works fine as well, if you aren't picky anyways.
This came in today  rclxms.gif

Not sure if it will work with Model M but other PS/2 board(include those that adapt from USB to ps/2) work with the RM10 one(white/black colored with one side USB and another side 2 ps/2 for keyboard and mouse).

But it do cause come problem though. Recently when I test out the KRO, i found out that if I hold keys and release only one key, all keys will be unregistered. But I guess it won't affect on routine typing... rolleyes.gif

That's why I had landed my eyes on Belkin adapter from taobao for so far, but everytime I don't buy stuffs from those seller(2nd hand stuff sellers), those the postage feel not worth...

Best not to apply excessive heat to your keycaps.
ABS keycaps may warp. My friend put it into those type of tumble dryer and it warped his super thick wyse keycaps. He was not pleased.

I found that leaving them under a fan, upside down to be rather effective.
Best to shake out the water in the stem to let it dry faster.

Cherry MX are easier.
Try cleaning Model M caps. For 2 piece keycaps, it is double the work per keyboard.  tongue.gif

@Cyclone, have the keys arrived yet?

AFAIRemember, he do sell the individual "Leopold" and "Human Esc" keys.

For full set, he do had 104 blank keys but that is as gift for early buyers(not sure now still consider "early").

That's what you said.
I'd pop in a Cherry DS on it and it'll feel just like home  tongue.gif

Though, Cherry at Rm190, without metal plate, just remind yourself that you are paying for Rm190 worth of a keyboard. Don't expect too much out of this.
*
You probably can't pop in any keys as you want, at least not for the Caps Lock. The Caps Lock is specially designed that the stem located just like the "Tab" key(instead of staying at middle like most others), LOL.

user posted image

Lets wait and see if Cherry can keep out with their quality or this is simply another China made board...

I mean they off-centered in different way. Which mean not interchangeable.

Its not really an offer from Filco, its the after-revision pricing from them, so it will lasts until the distri says something about it.

I wonder how the retail and distro things work in Malaysia. If retailers stock in at a price A(higher) and then distro say price drop to B, he "rugi" anything? hmm.gif

So this mean Cherry G80-3800 may land in Malaysia market? drool.gif
Actually, testing or not is not the main concern. I am more interested to open and dissemble it to check the overall built of the keyboard.
