Gratz on getting ur 1st kit and welcome to gunpla.

Not a bad choice for ur 1st kit but i'll recommend something else instead. Zaku II 2.0 or RX78 2.0 or Strike would be a better starter kit.

Sandrock doesn't have too much of a weight and balance issues. Try not to pose with the blades attach end to end or attach it together with the shield, it'll be abit unbalance if you do so. Other then that Sandrock is solid.
Sandrock also need abit of lining to look good, be patient when doing lining. If ur using gundam marker, u can erase the ink with eraser.
If u decide to use the decals, its easier to do it b4 assembling it. Some area is abit difficult to put decals properly after fixing the parts up.

If u make mistake, dont worry bout it. Everyone does, especially their 1st ever kit. If you broke some parts ask around here for some advice, 99% of the time mistakes can be fix with a combination of some glue, plastic cement, putty and sandpaper.

But at the end of the day, no matter what happens just enjoy building it. Cheers.

Thanks for your great advice. I might try those models you suggested... See how this one goes. Problem is can't always find the model you want. I'll try look out for them since I got this to occupy me for now.

Ohh never really gave the decals much thought before this.. Thx for the tip. Erm can I assemble it before then after that snap open the parts and do the decals?

You all rock! Thanks for helping me start up.

it's not advisable to snap open the parts to do decals.. but if you just pull off like, the entire arm and the entire body part.. it would be safer
as long as plastic snap on plastic, it's not advisable to open up again since you risk damaging the pegs.. if it is plastic snap on PC part (these are the black softer plastic on the plate labelled 'PC') then you can easily take it off to do decals.. but i think sandrock, you'd better study the parts properly before snapping.. and putting on the decal first may save you a lot of trouble later.. good luck!
most of all, have fun with your first kit smile.gif hopefully it is the first of many

one way to help you decide your next kit would be by visiting some gunpla review sites, such as Gunpla Inochi. you can find WIP (work in progress) pictures and reviews, so pretty much you can pick up some tips and tricks for building that particular kit.

not many kits shared the same parts or inner frame, so each kit you build might give a different experience thumbup.gif

yes, cutter to remove the parts from the runner, blade to clean the nubs left over on the parts when you cut it off
remember to be patient so you don't break parts icon_rolleyes.gif

I always practice doing the decals and detailing as I build ever since, coz there would be some places that are quite hard to reach to put on that little decal once the model has been completely built doh.gif

my method would be like, complete build one arm, straight away put on decals and do detailing. complete another arm, then again put the decals and also detailing, until the whole kit is completed. this way you'll have 100% completed kit, once you're done with building it thumbup.gif

if you build first, then later you'll do the detailing, who knows once done building feel lazy, then you malas want to put them on laugh.gif

I use that cutter for like 4-5 kits which already started to lose it sharpness but haven't karat yet. Now i have modeler cutter and the Tamiya plastic cutter just to try why it expensive. sweat.gif

That type D really give me some inspiration to add more stuff. laugh.gif

That FA Banshee side cannon look awesome and i still no where near that level.
