if you've just started.. get a feel for the hobby with a HG (high grade) or SD (super deformed) kit first.. so you can learn how to cut parts off the tree and properly clean nub marks, snap fit the kit and panel line after.. just to get a feel for the basics before jumping into bigger kits like MG (master grade) or eventually PG laugh.gif there's a thread stickied in the hobbies, collectibles and model kits titled 'tutorial to starting gunpla'
u can check there for more info.. good luck and most importantly, have fun smile.gif

Try SD or HG first...i'm also just started this hobby about 2 month ago...so welcome to gunpla...

for tools...only get a pocket knife and sidecutter...that should be enough...

not to worry, you don't need many tools.. just a side cutter and a modelling knife.. for the side cutter, a nail clipper can also work but you have to clip carefully, then use a modelling knife or a blade to clean the nubs.. i've been doing this for quite a while now and it has worked well for me smile.gif
so you don't really need to have really expensive tools to work on this hobby, so don't worry too much about it laugh.gif

Thanks bro HxiiiK for your encouragement biggrin.gif. I was thinking to get a MG first. Would it be too difficult to start with? I thought if i get a lower grade, then later get a higher grade I would have to spend more money moneyflies.gif. But if you guys think its a bad move to go to MG then I would consider getting a SD HG first icon_idea.gif ... snapback cool just 2 tools to start with is not so scary thumbup.gif

Another thing. Where do you guys get the kits from normally? I've seen some at the shopping mall.

MG is not difficult, it just requires more time and attention compared to a HG kit laugh.gif
you can start out with a MG no problem, of course.. but it would be better to get a hang of it using HGs or SDs first.. so if you damage the kit you won't feel too much of a pinch since MGs are much more expensive laugh.gif
where are you from? if KL, you can check bukit bintang area.. Berjaya Times Square has a shop on the 5th and the 7th floor selling gundam kits.. lowyat also has one on the 1st floor but its a bit more expensive there.. i recommend the 7th floor 'Gamers Arena' in BTS laugh.gif
