I'm going to stay at a guesthouse near Itaewon from the 12th of June to the 18th.
Does anyone know the weather and temperature during that time ? I heard during summer, it's as hot as in Malaysia.
Anyway, I'm a Muslim and I wear a hijab, so I guess I have to start planning for the clothes to wear during my stay there.

Regarding the food, is there any restaurant that sells Korean food like bulgogi, jjangmyeong etc but using halal ingredients ?
Because I think it'll be more fun to actually eat their food instead of the Arab dish and all.

I hope you can help me. Thanks smile.gif

Yes, Korea in summer is hot and humid, pretty uncomfortable, if you do a lot of outdoor walking.

As for halal eateries, visit the Korea Plaza at Ground Floor, Menara Hap Seng, Jalan P. Ramlee, KL. It's run by the Korea Tourism Organisation, and they publish a booklet on halal eateries in SK. Quite comprehensive.

it's difficult to find a restaurant that caters to muslim patrons. actually if you eat at normal restaurants most of the dishes are prepared without pork. if your concern is whether they use the same utensils to fry non-halal stuffs, then you should avoid mcdonalds, lotteria, popeyes and burger king altogether, since these fast food joints serve bulgogi burger (which uses pork)

so you cant eat bulgogi in korea. as for jjangmyeong, do you mean jjajjangmyeon? it's a chinese food though not so popular in malaysia. there's a reason why it's popular in korea though hahaha brows.gif

It would help if you could be a more open minded in these things. My malay colleague who went with me have no trouble trying everything as long as he didn't touch pork.

Then again, it's your own beliefs and i respect that.

well for muslims, they can eat anything there (except pork) but only if they stay there

if going for holiday, it is not considered as 'state of emergency'so by rights we still have to watch what we eat

bt then islam have always been lenient about everything except aqidah (the islamic creed). everything is about moderation

As much as we(Muslims) want to try all those Korean food, do bear in mind, its just impossible to eat any meat there. Your only choice is those middle east/indian restaurants, but then, they're not Korean food arent they?

This blog is useful for Muslims (Muslimah as a whole since the blogger is a Malay lady wearing Hijabs). http://budgettravel2korea.blogspot.com/201...rea-part-2.html

Also, check the first page for Listiani's Halal food lists. wink.gif

Thank you for all the replies smile.gif
I guess I'll do more research on the food since I still have a lot of time.
AA was having a good promo and it was hard not to purchase the tix, and mid of June is the only time my friends and I are free so summer it is.
I asked my Korean friend about the weather and she told me to bring a topcoat since it's a little cold during the night. Is it true ?

During the day, what is the most suitable clothes to wear ? Is it okay to wear a blouse and jeans ?
Just like people in Malaysia ?

I think mid-June is already Summer. Maybe chiller than in July-August. Try ask your Korean friend again to confirm.
If its Summer, I think you can wear like in Malaysia already. But normally Summer will have alot of rain. Do pack your rainy days clothes aswell, just in case. Umbrellas, raincoats, leather waterproofed shoes, extra pair of socks etc.

The Koreans call it "Chang-ma 장마", rainy season. Watch the video below to see how it looks.

in seoul it is quite hot at night. it's not windy hot, just plain hot. in other areas it's quite chill

around that time, you should NEVER EVER forget your umbrella, or you'd end up wasting lots of money buying new ones everytime. salesman are everywhere, especially inside the subway and at the subway exits. the umbrellas are cute though... sweat.gif

Might be too early to ask this; anybody living/studying/working in S.Korea? Wanna meet up? I'll be in Seoul; July onwards.
