Thanks your recommendation, what about Jeju island? stay in jeju city or seowsipo?
*
if u a renting a car in jeju, doesn't matter much where u stay since one in north and one is in south. driving in jeju is nice due to the scenery albeit alot of speed bumps..haha

seogwipo is a small coastal town. depends on u really and the destinations u wanna go. More attractions at the south i believe and going to most places takes from 30mins to an hour or more even smile.gif

Gapyeong conventional railway station to Nami island also around that distance..taxi rate ~ 3500won nia..less than RM10 haha..But lucky this time that MRT line goes all the way to Elysian ski resort. Last time, I took another taxi to Elysian ski resort..My heart keep on pumping seeing the meter increasing liek no tomorrow..I think I paid ~ RM50 for the taxi from Nami Island to Elysian ski resort Darmit
*
the taxi guy cheat me when taking from gapyeong mrt station to nami..5k won.. doh.gif cuz when I take taxi back to gapyeogn station, one ahjunma also together and she paid for the taxi fare.2.5 won or so only! doh.gif

anyway, i took taxi from hongdae to sinchon after drinking around 3am even more expensive....i think it was 10k-20k won or more laugh.gif

Food is standard 3 times KL...Just minus 3 zero & X3.. For eg..A bowl of ramen = 4,000 won = RM12
*
ok lar..cheaper than japan and hong kong still i think..hehe

QUOTE(stimix @ Feb 22 2012, 09:24 AM)
If I'm not mistaken McD set is ~4000 won lah..anyway still cheaper than those traditional Korean food restaurant wth avg 5,000-6,000 won.. The 4,000 won Ramen only in one of the restaurant I frequented during my few days stay there in dec 2010 haha.. Hard to find anything at 4,000 won actually except McD or cheaper option, buy those cup ramen in 7-11, GS mart/Family Mart..that way cheaper or just eat kimbap...I see lotsa Korean just order Kimbap during lunch too..poor man food
*
3k won can eat lotte burger set lor.. thumbup.gif

woahhh thank you so much for the info! so excited to try these Korean food especially jajangmyun. Can't wait for my trip to Seoul this November.

How about the spicy rice cake (ddubokgi)? Do you managed to try that? Since I watch a lot of KDrama... I really craving to taste that food. Looks yummm!
p/s: I manage to finish South Korea v2. Now I need to read the v1. So 'tertinggal keretapi'.
*
jajangmyun is it like the dry mince meat mee the chinese shop have?? really special mee to try would be cold noodles or nangmyeon

ricek cake is almost like our cylinder shape chee cheong fan but more chewy and thick.

i dun like it cuz hard to chew or maybe i didn't eat it at a good stall. pretty spicy too. but i had it b4 in msia at those korean restaurant, which is more same to the chee cheong fan and not so spicy..haha

im renting a car in jeju but duno which type to get. We have 4 person (2 underweight, lol). Should i get a creative/morning which is 999cc or SM3 which has 1.5cc? i just scared if cc too low the car cannot go up hill(if jeju got alot hill la =="")
any suggestions? and between avis n KT kumho which is better? ive checked the rates and seems tat avis has better/cheaper rates.plus they have english gps for rent.

Another thing, is it worth to get the public transit pass or T-money card? since i'll be there 8 days. Moree info on the public transit pass as below

gps is just voice in english..menu is still korean. smile.gif jeju is not very hilly imo but still have a fair amount of hills since its a countryside kinda place. if u drive thru mt hallasan, from jeju city to seogwipo, definitely a lot of bends here and there. smile.gif both cars should work fine, only slower mar..haha. i drive alone also use kia forte..cuz i know going thru mount hallasan..hehe

for most us, i think we just use t-money since can use for paying other things as well. i think m-pass not useable for buses and other subway lines like korail?

anechoic, thanks for your reply smile.gif read on some travel blogs that usually on Chuseok there will be less people in Everland as most Koreans will celebrate with their families at home.. Of course there will still be lots of foreigners smile.gif Actually I am not keen on the rides, but love themeparks all the same! Is it worth to go or shall I go with my friend to the auraji rail bike? The thing is the auraji rail bike is quite far away (like mentioned above about 3-4 hours bus ride). Is there a direct bus to the place? am quite worried also as it might not be operating due to the Chuseok holidays.
*
oh less ppl kah?? hehe...if u like themeparks then go lor, since it rated one of the top in the world i think..haha.

but i won't want go again, I should have gone to DMZ zone instead..haha. Or do the auraji bike cuz I rather see more scenery..but seems far laugh.gif not sure about getting there though, didnt plan for it last time..

How did you manage to rent the car for that rate? I've checked their website for car rental prices and most of the time I see quite expensive rate. Did you email them directly or you just booked from their website?

QUOTE(leonghan @ Mar 21 2012, 10:21 AM)
but for AVIS, they need International Driving Licensed for registration purpose...what about KUMHO?
When arrving Jeju-do, we have to show them the invoice which printed out from email, after that have to take bus to their place to collect the car, is it same to KUMHO also?
*
I register with Avis, though I can't remember if I provide the Intl Driving lic when register or not..hehe. As I aware all cars have GPS, if u need to have english menu GPS probably need to pay, not sure. Else, the korean GPS can change voice navi to english?? not sure.. I just use the korean GPS since the direction of the roads are accurate.

I paid when I got my car ay Jeju.

anyway, when u arrive at Jeju airport, find the car rental counters, there is a lot , kumho, avis and many others. A lot of tourists & korean rent car as well.

For me, I went to the Avis counter, and they check my passport, intl driving lic, registration etc, then ask me to take the bus to Avis car center to collect my car.

Shuttle bus are available for other car rental companies as well. Almost all the car rentals center locate next to each other..

Process should be same for all companies lor..as long as show prove of registration..

remember, to have money to pay for petrol..hehe. It was 1900 won per litre when I was there...hehe.
