Proposal writing is required for those who take Masters or PhD by research.

I think the term should be GOT (Graduate On Time) which the normal period is 3 years for most courses. According to my contract, I am allowed to apply for one sem extension depending on their budi bicara. So, 3.5 years max i guess.

I would like to ask if I can apply for MyMaster while working full time? I plan to take Master full time as well.

I already talk to my lecturer and he is fine with me working since my work place is within the university although not under university. He said as long I could meet him once per week, it's ok already.

My boss/company seems to be ok as well and also offer me to do part time instead if I want to focus more time onto my Master.

It's Master in Computer Science btw.

Are you taking research based master program?
MyMaster have full time and part time category. It is easy to apply part time category. part time category for private sector is RM10,000. For full time time scholarship, that mean mybrain15 will pay 100%. You can apply but please take note on the condition.

Condition for 100% scholarship are
- No working but 100% concentration on study
- KWSP or EPF must not have record of saving during your study period.

I am a programmer too.
If your job requirement is freelance, KWSP is not involved. That mean no record of saving for a certain period of months. You can apply for full time or 100% scholarship.
If your company still pay you as part timer, please check weather KWSP is involved. If Yes, It is better to apply for mymaster category 3 for private sector.
If you are working for IPTA or education related collage as IT personnel or programmer, you can apply for category 2.

You can apply for the MyMaster scholarship whether you are taking the course full time or part time. Either way, the scholarship will cover your fees of up to RM10,000 (maximum). There is no fixed monthly allowance for MyMaster.

It doesn't matter you are working or not. But most importantly, you must not work in the government sector. Government servants (except research assistants) are not entitled to apply for the MyBrain scholarship.

Just started looking into MyBrain15 and i'm a little concerned with the 5-year bond after completing graduate studies. I'm going the research->academia route so the normal progression after PhD would be to secure a post-doc position somewhere. With the 5-year bond, does that mean i can only look for post-doc positions at IPTAs?

I have asked this before.

U can still do a post-doc overseas although you are bonded to work in Malaysia.

Just write to MyBrain that you are going overseas for a post-doc. Simple as that.

"Hi Kak ofis MyBrain.

Dik nak gi overseas jap, buat postdoc.

Kthnxbai.

XOXOxO."

Sorry, was feeling trolllish. tongue.gif

But on serious notes, yes most unis offered this. Even fellowship progammes in most local uni,s you can request to do postdoc first before serving the bond. So I think the same probably applies to MyBrain.

Okay, that's a relief. Does the bond means i have to work in Malaysia for 5 years, or for the Malaysian government for 5 years...? Because the academia is notoriously difficult to get into. Who is to say any of the IPTAs in Malaysia would have a position in my field at the exact moment when i need the job?

From what I understand, it is supposed to be "work in Malaysia or organisation with benefit to Malaysia". Not compulsory to work in government. You can work with private or gov.

The phrase "organisation with benefit to Malaysia" is quite intriguing though. Maybe oversea MY companies are in this category?

As I understand it as explained by ppl from MOSTI before, it usually means GLCs. E.g. Petronas, Sime Darby etc. Not sure bout local companies overseas.

An officer from MyBrain told me as long as you work in Malaysia for 5 years. Any companies in Malaysia, government institution or private companies.

Will Bachelor Degree result affected the scholarship approval? I got a very bad results back in Degree, but I successfully secure an admission from a University for my MBA.

You can still try as they did not specify the pointer requirements for MyMaster (they specified for MyPhd though). The more important question is whether your university is eligible for MyBrain.

Hi lads.

Summoning randomly nightzstarBlofeld

Just went through this thread and now am like doh.gif

I am now in my second semester, a full time coursework student doing MSc (Management). Including this semester, I definitely still have 3 semesters left. However I just completed the application form (online) yesterday and submitted it right away. Here comes the mindfucuk section, did I fill the bolded part correctly?

06. Struktur Pengajian: KERJA KURSUS
07. Tajuk Penyelidikan: -
08. Bidang Pengajian: SAINS SOSIAL / SASTERA IKHTISAS
09. Bidang Kursus: BASIC / BROAD, GENERAL PROGRAMMES
10. Nama Kursus (seperti dalam surat tawaran): SARJANA SAINS (PENGURUSAN)
11. Pengkhususan (Major): PENGURUSAN
12. Tarikh Mula Pengajian: 6 FEB 2013
13. Tarikh Tamat Pengajian: 6 FEB 2015
14. Tempoh Pengajian: 2 TAHUN DAN 0 BULAN
15. Semester Semasa: 2
16. Baki Semester (bulan): 12 (I take it as 1 sem = 4 months) doh.gif

And can I call or email them so I can make amendments on this section?

Thanks
